2. o-(1,3-Oxathiolan-2-yl)-phenyl-N-methylcarbamat,

EMI2.2
in which X: - and X4 have the same meaning and each is oxygen or sulfur and RQ and R4 are each an unsubstituted or substituted lower alkenyl or alkynyl radical or in which X3 and X4 have different meanings and each is oxygen or sulfur and Ri and R4 are each one mean unsubstituted or substituted lower alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl radical.
The carbamates of the formula (I) have in particular an insecticidal and acaricidal action, but can also be used as active ingredients in herbicides, bactericides, fungicides and / or molluscicides.
The new carbamates of the formula (I) can optionally be reacted in the sequence of a reactive derivative of carbonic acid with a phenol of the formula
EMI2.3
or a salt of this phenol and an amine of the formula
EMI2.4
getting produced.
Some of the phenols of the formula (II) are described in the literature and some are new. They are produced by acetalizing or mercaptalizing corresponding aldehydes with alcohols or mercaptans in the presence of catalysts such as ZnCl.2, mineral acids, p-toluenesulfonic acid, etc.
The pesticides according to the invention, which contain a carbamate of the formula I as active ingredient, contain at least one of the following additives: carriers, solvents, diluents, dispersants, wetting agents, adhesives and fertilizers and, under certain circumstances, other pesticides.
Due to their wide range of biocidal effects, the new agents have the particular advantage that a wide variety of plant and animal pests can be combated.
For example, they have a very strong effect on houseflies and grain beetles. In terms of contact effect, they are far superior to the well-known active ingredient carbaryl N-methyl-a-naphthyl-carbamate].
The carbamates serving as active ingredients for the agents are not only suitable as herbicides, but they also show, when used in a concentration that does not allow phytotoxic phenomena to occur, an excellent action against harmful microorganisms, e.g. B. against fungi, such. B. Alternaria solani, Phytopthora infestans and Septoria apii, and against harmful insects, representatives of the Acarina order, nematodes, and their eggs or larvae.
Furthermore, the new agents are generally used as microbicides, e.g. B. against Aspergillus species, and as insecticides, e.g. B. useful against mosquitoes and flies.
For the preparation of directly sprayable solutions of the compounds of general formula (I) come, for. B. mineral oil fractions of high to medium boiling range, such as diesel oil or kerosene, coal tar oil and oils of vegetable or animal origin, and hydrocarbons such as alkylated naphthalenes, tetrahydronaphthalene, possibly using xylene mixtures, cyclohexanols, ketones, also chlorinated hydrocarbons, such as tri chloroethane and tetrachloroethane, trichlorethylene or tri- and tetrachlorobenzenes. Organic solvents with a boiling point above 1000 ° C. are advantageously used.
Aqueous application forms are particularly expediently prepared from emulsion concentrates, pastes or wettable wettable powders by adding water. As emulsifying or dispersing agents, non-ionic products come into consideration, e.g. B. condensation products of aliphatic alcohols, amines or carboxylic acids with a long-chain hydrocarbon radical of about 10 to 20 carbon atoms with ethylene oxide, such as the condensation product of octadecyl alcohol and 25 to 30 mol of ethylene oxide, or that of dodecyl mercaptan and 12 mol of ethylene oxide.
Among the anion-active emulsifiers that can be used, there may be mentioned: the sodium salt of dodecyl alcohol sulfuric acid ester, the sodium salt of dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid, the potassium or triethanolamine salt of oleic acid or abietic acid or mixtures of these acids, or the sodium salt of petroleum sulfonic acid. Quaternary ammonium compounds, such as cetylpyridinium bromide or dioxyethylbenzyldodecylammonium chloride, are suitable as cationic dispersants.
Talc, kaolin, bentonite, calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate, but also coal, cork flour, wood flour and other materials of vegetable origin can be used as solid carriers for the production of dusts and grit. It is also very useful to manufacture the preparations in granulated form. The various application forms can be provided in the usual way with the addition of substances which improve the distribution, the adhesive strength, the rain resistance or the penetration capacity; as such substances are mentioned: fatty acids, resin, glue, casein or alginates.
The agents according to the invention can be used on their own or together with customary pest control agents, in particular insecticides, acaricides, nematocides, bactericides or other fungicides or herbicides.
Particularly suitable for combating insects are carbamates of the formula I in which R1 = H and R2 is a lower alkyl radical, for example methyl, ethyl or propyl, and R is a dioxolanyl, dioxanyl, oxathiolanyl linked in the 2- or 3-position. or denotes dithiolanyl, where X1 and X2 are preferably hydrogen.
The following carbamates can be contained as active components in the agents according to the invention: 1. o- [bis- (2-hydroxyethylmercapto) -methyl] -phenyl-
N-methyl carbamate, oil.
2. o- (1,3-Oxathiolan-2-yl) -phenyl-N-methylcarbamate,
M.p. 108-1090 C.
3. o- (1,3-Dithiolan-2-yl) -phenyl-N-methylcarbamate,
M.p. 1390 C.
4. o- (1,3-dithian-2-yl) -phenyl-N-methylcarbamate,
M.p. 155-1570 C.
5. m- (1,3-dithiolan-2-yl) -phenyl-N-methylcarbamate,
93-960 C.
6. o- (4-Methyl-1,3-dithiolan-2-yl) -phenyl
N-methyl carbamate.
7. o- (4-Hydroxymethyl-1,3-dithiolan-2-yl) phenyl
N-methyl carbamate.
