Process for dyeing textile material made of wool in organic solvents
It has already been proposed to dye fibers containing amide groups, in particular nylon fibers, with fiber-reactive disperse dyes from an aqueous medium. However, these processes have not been able to become natural in practice because they usually have to be carried out in two stages and do not give particularly good fastness properties. Surprisingly, it has now been found that these difficulties can be eliminated if one works in organic solvents.
Although it has already been proposed in Swiss patent specification 437 204 to dye leather with solutions of fiber-reactive dyes in organic solvents, the skilled person could not assume, because of the great differences in the structure of leather and wool fibers, that wool in organic solution would be water-insoluble would allow fiber-reactive dyes to dye satisfactorily.
The Swiss Auslegeschriften Nos. 17024/65 and 3375/66 describe processes for dyeing semi-synthetic and fully synthetic fibers in organic solvents, but neither the use of fiber-reactive dyes nor the dyeing of wool are mentioned or suggested.
In Swiss Patent No. 363 634, the dyeing of synthetic and natural polyamides, such as wool, with high-boiling polyethylene glycols is recommended and in Swiss Auslegeschrift No. 102/66, the continuous dyeing of synthetic polyamides with solutions of z. B. Disperse dyes in mixtures of hydrophobic and hydrophilic solvents are recommended. In none of the last two patents mentioned are fiber-reactive dyes mentioned or suggested. It was also not obvious to use such dyes, because they had previously only been applied from aqueous media. In addition, the wet fastness properties that can be achieved on wool in the processes described there are not as high as in the present process.
The present invention relates to a process for dyeing textile material based on wool, which is characterized in that the textile material is dyed or printed with a solution of at least one water-insoluble fiber-reactive disperse dye in an organic solvent or solvent mixture.
The term fiber-reactive dye is used in the usual sense and denotes a dye which z. B. connects with acylatable groups present in the fiber to form a covalent chemical bond.
Representatives of the well-known class of water-insoluble fiber-reactive disperse dyes such as mono-, dis- and polyazo dyes, anthraquinone, perinone, quinophthalone, oxazine, nitroso, nitro, phthalocyanine, stilbene and methine dyes are used as dyes which can be used according to the invention, including the styryl, azamethine, polymethine and azostyryl dyes.
However, other suitable fiber-reactive dye types can also be used.
The water-insoluble dyes which can be used according to the invention contain in the molecule at least one fiber-reactive group such as s-triazinyl radicals which have 1 or 2 chlorine or bromine atoms on the triazine ring, pyrimidyl radicals which have one or two chlorine atoms or one or two arylsulfonyl or alkanesulfonyl groups on the pyrimidine ring wear, mono or
Bis- (y-halogenqhydroxypropyl) -amino groups, ß-haloethylsulfamyl groups, ß-haloethoxy groups, ß-haloethyl mercapto groups, -halo-ß-hydroxy-propylsulfamyl groups,
Chloroacetylamino groups,
Vinylsulfonyl groups, 2,3-epoxypropyl groups, or other fiber-reactive radicals free of water-solubilizing groups.

Organic solvents are, for.
B. the hydrophobic, water immiscible or only limited miscible solvents such as acetophenone, cyclohexanol, benzyl alcohol, esters such as ethyl acetate, propyl acetate, butyl acetate, hydrocarbons such as benzene, xylene or toluene, and halogenated hydrocarbons such as carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, methylene chloride, Trichlorethylene, perchlorethylene, trichloroethane, tetrachloroethane, dibromoethylene or chlorobenzene called.
Water-miscible, hydrophilic solvents form a particularly preferred class of solvents, such as aliphatic alcohols such as methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, isopropanol, ketones such as acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, cyclohexanone, ethers and acetals such as diisopropyl ether, diphenylene oxide, dioxane, Tetrahydrofuran, glycerol formal and glycol formal, as well as acetonitrile, and pyridine, diacetone alcohol, also higher-boiling glycol derivatives, such as ethylene glycol monomethyl, ethyl and butyl ethers and diethylene glycol monomethyl or ethyl ether, thiodiglycol, ethylene glycol, if they are at room temperature, polyethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol y-butyrolactone and especially the group of those boiling above 120a C,
water-miscible active solvents such as
N, N-dimethylformamide,
N, N-dimethylacetamide,
Bis (dimethylamido) methane phosphate,
Tris (dimethylamido) phosphate,
N-methylpyrrolidone,
1,5-dimethylpyrrolidone,
N, N-dimethyl-methoxyacetamide,
N, N, N ', N'-tetramethylurea,
Tetramethylene sulfone (sulfolane) and
3-methylsulfolane and dimethylsulphoxide.
Among the hydrophilic solvents which can be used according to the invention there are three preferred subgroups, namely (1) those which are suitable for dissolving linear, spinnable, fully synthetic polymers or polycondensates, such as. B. acrylonitrile polymers are suitable (2) the group of solvents miscible with water in any ratio, and (3) the group of solvents free of hydroxyl groups.
Mixtures of chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons with up to 50% of a hydrophilic solvent, in particular an amide of a low molecular weight fatty acid such as dimethylacetamide or dimethylformamide, are particularly preferred.
The present process is preferably carried out without the addition of dispersants. The advantage of this is that the dyed textile material is easier to clean. Optionally, however, surfactants can also be added to the dye liquor or padding liquor.
Important representatives of such surfactants belong in particular to the following nonionic compound types: a) ethers of polyhydroxy compounds, such as polyoxyalkylated fatty alcohols, polyoxyalkylated polyols, polyoxyalkylated mercaptans and aliphatic amines, polyoxyalkylated alkylphenols and naphthols, polyoxyalkylated alkylaryl mercaptans and alkylaryl amines.
b) fatty acid esters of 2ithylene and polyethylene glycols, as well as propylene and butylene glycol, des
Glycerine or polyglycerine and penta erythritol, as well as sugar alcohols such as sorbitol,
Sorbitans and sucrose.
c) N-Hydroxylalkyl-carbonamides, polyoxalkylated carbonamides and sulfonamides.
For example, surfactants from these groups that can be used advantageously include: addition products of 8 moles of ethylene oxide with 1 mole of p-tert.-octylphenol, of 15 or 6 moles of ethylene oxide with castor oil, of 20 moles of ethylene oxide with the alcohol C1CH330H, ethylene oxide addition products
Di- [a-phenylethyl] -phenols,
Polyethylene oxide tert-dodecylthioether,
Polyamine polyglycol ether or addition products of 15 or 30 mol of sithylene oxide with 1 mol of amine C1H5NH2 or C18H87NH9.
In discontinuous exhaust dyeing, the textile material to be dyed can be in the form of loose material, fleece, yarn or as a knitted fabric or woven fabric. It is dyed in loose form or in the form applied to mechanical devices in a stationary bath, in particular in suitable jiggers, reel runners, cross-reel dyeing machines or similar dyeing machines, depending on the nature of the goods to be dyed.
The dyeing can take place in dyeing apparatus or vessels that are in contact with the outside atmosphere (if necessary through a reflux condenser) or in closed vessels, such as pressure vessels, with or without pressure.
After the desired depth of color has been achieved, the dyed goods are removed from the dye bath and expediently treated with either steam or a stream of hot air to remove the solvent that is still adhering.
However, the present dyeing process is preferably carried out continuously, the textile material mainly being woven fabrics or also knitted fabrics suitable for this purpose or carpets of all types. Here, the textile material is impregnated or printed, in particular padded, and the textile material is then subjected to a heat treatment to fix the dye on the fiber.
The impregnation in the padder takes place either at room temperature or in the warmth. After passing through the dye solution, the textile material is squeezed off to the desired content of impregnation solution of about 50 to 130% of the dry fiber weight.
In a preferred embodiment, the impregnated or printed material is after leaving the padder or the printing machine, if necessary, either briefly in a warm, z. B. dried to 30 to 900 C heated air stream, or in another way, such as. B. by centrifugation, freed from the greater part of the adhering dye solution, or it is telquel subjected to the fixation.
Furthermore, you can also carry out the fixation according to the so-called cold piling process, the padded and squeezed tissue rolled up without drying, optionally packed in a plastic film and kept at room temperature for a longer time, for. B. 24 hours, is stored, and the tissue is then unpacked and freed from the solvent by drying.
In the following examples, unless otherwise stated, parts are parts by weight, percentages are percentages by weight, and temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
example 1
Wool fabric was made with a solution of 10 parts of the dye of the formula
EMI4.1
Padded cold in a mixture of 900 parts of perchlorethylene and 100 parts of dimethylacetamide, squeezed off to 99% of the fiber weight, dried at 40 to 500 in a stream of warm air, and then fixed for 3 minutes at 1000 in a pad steam system with steam. After steaming, the mixture was washed with an aqueous solution of 2 g / l of the adduct of 9 mol of ethylene oxide and 1 mol of nonylphenol for 30 minutes, rinsed with water and dried. A brilliant yellow coloration with a high proportion of chemically bound dye was obtained.
Example 2
3 parts by weight of powdered dye of the formula
EMI4.2
are dissolved in 200 parts by volume of boiling perchlorethylene within 10 minutes. The dye liquor is then diluted with 1800 parts by volume of boiling perchlorethylene. 100 parts of bleached woolen tricot fabric are then added, the mixture is cooled to 1100 and dyed for 45 minutes at this temperature in a flask equipped with a reflux condenser while the fabric is agitated. It is then cooled for 15 minutes and the dyed textile material is dyed from the dye liquor by wringing it out and drying it in a stream of warm air. The dyeing obtained was then topped up with 2 g / l of the addition product of 9 moles of ethylene oxide and 1 mole of nonylphenol in aqueous solution for 30 minutes at 600, rinsed in water and dried. A flesh-colored red color is obtained.
