Infrared photographic recorder
The invention relates to a photographic infrared recording device with an associated observation image converter.
Experience has shown that the infrared flash photography with ordinary flash bulbs, which has become known up to now, cannot satisfy increased requirements. IR (= infrared) image converters in connection with telescopes, which, with appropriate IR lighting, allow good observation of a distant scene taking place in the dark, have been known for a long time. With this it is possible to photograph a scene via the fluorescent screen of an image converter. Dorch leads the resolution of only a few lines per millimeter to only limited usable images.
The range of contrast of a fluorescent image that can be photographed is only about 1: 5 in contrast to that of a direct recording with IR-sensitive film material of about 1: 1000, which is also very good compared to the resolution of the human eye, which can still perceive differences of 1: 106 is humble. The result shows that an image converter recording can never capture the natural range of contrast of an object. In addition, the fluorescent layers of the image converters are usually green or blue. Green shadows are good for observation, but difficult to photograph because of the relatively low sensitivity of normal film material. Blue fluorescent screens are better for photography but less suitable for visual purposes.
In contrast to the long-wave sensitivity maximum of the S1 cathode of the image converter at around 1100 nm, the sensitivity of normal IR film is around 750950 nm, which is roughly the same color as red. There are special films that have a spectral sensitivity of up to 1200 nm, the processing and handling of which require a great deal of experience and are therefore not suitable for general use. In addition, there is also the aforementioned spectral disadvantage of the image converter with S1 cathode.
A disadvantage of photographing images via image converters is that the latter also has a strongly curved screen. A planar imaging of the entire screen is therefore only possible with a very high level of technical effort, that is to say with expensive optical correction elements, the use of which in most cases cannot be justified.
The aim of the present invention is therefore to solve the complex problem described above and to create an improved photographic infrared recording device with an associated observation image converter, which can be manufactured inexpensively with relatively little structural effort, enables optimal observation and, above all, the photographing of the observed Objects with high resolution are permitted with normal IR-sensitive film.
To solve the aforementioned problem, the newly proposed photographic infrared recording device with an associated observation image converter, characterized by an additional flash device arranged axially parallel to the recording optics with a flash lamp with a coiled quartz capillary, the luminous elements of which are close to the focus of an associated parabolic mirror, which flash lamp is filled with xenon is, with an emission focus of the IR radiation between 800 and 900 nm and a discharge circuit that favors the electrical excitation of this band spectrum compared to the xenon continuum.
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the photographic infrared recording device according to the invention with an associated observation image converter. The single figure shows a schematic longitudinal section through the device.
The device shown in the drawing is located in a rectangular housing 1 which is closed to the rear and to the sides and is covered with a honeycomb grid 2 on the front side facing the object. This grille 2, which is preferably darkly tinted, gives the device the appearance of a loudspeaker, so that it is excellently camouflaged for criminal purposes, for example.
In the lower half of the housing 1 there is a motor-driven miniature camera 3 with automatic image transport, which is provided with a 500 mm mirror lens 4 and a sectional image rangefinder. Normal IR film with a sensitivity of around 750 to 950 nm is used as the film material.
On the viewfinder of the camera 3 there is a tube 5 which contains a suitable lens system and an IR image converter with about 150 times photon amplification and at the upper end protruding freely from the housing 1 carries the eyepiece 6 with the usual setting means.
The associated lighting device is located in the angular space between camera lens 4 and tube 5. This includes a lamp 7 burning with continuous light, which together with the parabolic mirror 8 and the upstream, only long-wave infrared transmitting, practically completely invisible black filter 9 forms an IR continuous light headlight, and a quartz tube flash lamp 10, which is arranged coaxially in front of the continuous light headlight and together with the ring-shaped parabolic mirror 11 and the considerably brighter infrared filter 12 placed in front of it, forms the flash device for the camera 3. A vertical housing wall 13 tracts the two mirrors 8 and 11 as well as the infrared filter 9 and the two light sources 7 and 10.
The filter 9 for the permanent light headlight is dimensioned so that it only lets through waves with a wavelength of more than 830 nm. Since human eye sensitivity tends to zero between 810 and 850 nm, the continuous IR light is invisible to people who are to be monitored with the observation device.
The filter 12 is considerably brighter and permeable to disturbances with a wavelength of more than 780 nm; It therefore has no influence on the light emitted by the permanent headlight. Due to the covering by the filter 12 and the only about one millisecond exposure time by the flash lamp 10, the light flash emitted by the person observed during the photograph is no longer perceptible.
During operation, the switched-on infrared headlight, which is preferably provided with a reflective light bulb, gives the opportunity to observe an object unnoticed on the eyepiece 6 for hours. Because the objective 4 and the viewfinder arrangement form part of the observation optics, there is no need for an additional telescope. In addition, there is always the option of taking pictures during observation that exactly match the object being observed. The camera is focused in a known manner by screwing the lens 4 in or out, for which purpose an operating button is provided on the outside of the housing which acts on the lens with known transmission means.
A corresponding release button is also provided on the outside of the housing 1 to release the camera shutter. Triggering can of course take place remotely via a line or radio signal transmission. After the release, the motorized film transport is switched on automatically, so that the device is ready for the next task after about 1 to 2 seconds. Experience with the device according to the invention has shown that excellent resolution is achieved; z. For example, when taking pictures from a distance of 120 m, car numbers are clearly legible.
The power supply for the device is used - preferably via external device connections rechargeable batteries and dry batteries, which can be conveniently accommodated in the housing 1 behind the lighting device on both sides of the tube 5. This space is also sufficient to accommodate the power supply and the triggering circuit of the flash lamp 10, which is ignited in a manner known per se via a capacitor discharge.
It is particularly advantageous to provide separate power sources for the flash lamp 10, the permanent light headlight 7, the image converter and the electromotive film transport. This has the advantage that the device remains functional to a limited extent even if individual power sources fail. If, for example, the power supply to the image converter fails, it is still possible to observe and also take photos without lighting, for example in moonlight or twilight. If the power supply to the flash lamp 10 fails, observation can still be made and the camera can be used without the flash, for example during the day.
When the film of the camera 3 has been transported to the end or the film transport motor no longer receives any operating current, there is still the possibility of observing day and night.
The operating elements for the observation device are preferably arranged on the left and right side. These control elements are a controller with which the intensity of the continuous IR headlight can be set, a release button for the camera, an operating button for focusing the camera optics 4, a selector switch for switching from manual to radio release and vice versa, a main switch with the positions off, image converter and flash on, image converter off, only flash on, as well as a voter with the positions internal battery supply and external supply of direct current or charging of the built-in battery.
In addition, the aforementioned connection bushes for the external battery (e.g. car battery) and land device are provided on the outside of the housing.
In a further embodiment of the observation ridge, the flash lamp 10 is designed in such a way that it generates infrared radiation of less than 780 nm with a particularly high degree of efficiency. This happens because, contrary to the usual technology in photo flash units, the capillary of this XENON flash tube is made extraordinarily long and djinn, which means that the so-called band rattle of the xenon is emitted strongly around 830 nm, the white, otherwise used spectrum, on the other hand, in terms of efficiency, here as desired, resigns.
To compensate for the focal distance caused by the long thin capillary - the flash lamp. If the capillary is twisted like a filament of an incandescent lamp, as far as possible all capillary parts shine in the vicinity of the focal point, the rule of thumb for such IR-radiating capillaries is that their diameter is related to the length of at least 1:20.
With the radio remote triggering of the device it is expedient to proceed in such a way that the remote control receiver receives at least two different signals, e.g. Frequencies that must be received at the same time in order to trigger the triggering of the flash and the camera transport.
