Additional patent to the main patent only. 476 800 Process for the manufacture of new anthraquinone dyes
The present invention relates to the preparation of new anthraquinone dyes which are free from carboxyl groups and sulfonic acid groups and which have a substituent of the formula in one or more a-positions of a monoanthraquinone nucleus
EMI1.1
have, where n and p each have a completely positive number with a value of at most 7, m a whole positive number with a value of at most 2, Rt and R2 each have a benzene nucleus and X the remainder of an aliphatic bonded to the SOs bridge through its nitrogen atom, mean amine having at least 4 and at most 10 carbon atoms.
Such dyes are obtained when α-aminoanthraquinones with acid halides of the formula (2) halogen-SO 2-R2SO2-X in which R and X have the meaning given in the explanation of the formula (1), or when aliphatic 4-10 carbon atoms are used containing amines acylated with anthraquinone dyestuff sulfonic acid halides which have a substituent of the formula in one or more a-positions of a monoanthraquinone nucleus
EMI1.2
contain, in which n, m, p, R1 and R2 have the meaning given in the explanation of the formula (1).
The intermediates of the formula (2) to be used here are obtained by halogenation (e.g.
with thionyl chloride or phosphorus halides) of the corresponding sulfonic acids, or by replacing the amino group in the corresponding aminobenzene sulfamides with the sulfohalide group. This can be done by methods known per se by diazotizing the aminobenzenesulfamides (for example 4- and above all 3-aminobenzene-1-sulfonic acid N, γ-isopropoxypropylamide, 3 or 4-aminobenzene-1-sulfonic acid N-cyclohexylamide, 3- or 4-aminobenzene 1-sulfonic acid-N, a-ethylhexylamide, 3- or 4-aminobenzene-1-sulfonic acid-N-butyl- or -decylamide, 3-amino-4-methyl- or -4-chlorobenzene-1-sulfonic acid-N, y - äthoxypropylamid and reacting the diazo compound with sulfur dioxide and HC1 in the presence of copper chloride.
The a-aminoanthraquinones to be acylated according to the invention can contain other substituents in addition to acylatable amino groups, e.g. B. hydroxyl groups, halogen atoms, alkoxy or aryloxy groups, acylamino groups and the like., But no carboxyl and no sulfonic acid groups. Such aminoanthraquinones are not only 9,10-dioxoanthracenes, but also derivatives thereof which have a condensed ring in the 1,9-position, as well as thiophanthrenequinones.
Examples of acylatable starting materials are the following: 1-aminoanthraquinones, 1,4- and 1,5-diaminoanthraquinone, 1,4- and 4,5,8-tetraminoanthraquinone, 1-amino-4- or -5-hydroxyanthraquinone, 1 -amino- 3-bromo-4-hydroxyanthraquinone, 1-amino-3-chloro-4-hydroxyanthraquinone, 1- (p- or m-aminophenylamino) -4-hydroxyanthraquinone, 1 "α-aminoethylamino-4-hydroxyanthraquinone, 1-amino-4-bromo - or -4-anilinoanthraquinone, 1,5-diamino-4,8-dihydroxy-2-phenylanthraquinone, 1,5-diamino-4,8-dihydroxy-2-phenoxyanthraquinone, 1,5-diamino-4,8-dihydroxy -anthraquinone, 1, 4-diamino-2- (ss-hydroxyethoxy) -anthraquinone, 1-amino-isothiazole anthrone,
1, N-methylamino-4- (m- or p-aminophenylamino) -anthraquinone, 1-amino-4- (m- or p-aminophenylamino) -anthraquinone, 1-amino- (m- or p-aminophenylamino) anthraquinone, also 1-amino-4- or -5-benzoylaminoanthraquinone.
The acylation of these aminoanthraquinone derivatives according to the invention with acid halides of the formula (2) is carried out according to conventional methods, e.g. B. in the presence of acid-binding agents at room temperature or with heating in inert organic solvents such as chlorobenzene, nitrobenzene, toluene, dimethylformamide and mixtures thereof, optionally in the presence of organic bases (such as pyridine, trialkylamine, etc.).
The acylation according to the invention of aliphatic amines having 4-10 carbon atoms with sulfonic acid halides which have a substituent of the formula in one or more a-positions of a monoanthraquinone chain
EMI2.1
contain, in which n, m, p, Rt and R2 have the meaning given in the explanation of the formula (1), is carried out by methods customary per se, eg. B. in the presence of acid-binding agents at room temperature or with heating in inert organic solvents such as chlorobenzene, nitrobenzene, toluene, dimethylformamide, and mixtures thereof, optionally in the presence of an excess of the selected amine.
Such amines include both cyclic (e.g.
Cyclohexylamine) such as straight or branched aliphatic amines, namely unsubstituted alkylamines (such as butylamines, octylamine, iso-octylamine, 2-sithylamines, which have 2 or 3 carbon atoms in the alkyl part and 2-8 or 7 in the alkoxy part of the amine).
Examples of such amines are, above all, β-ethoxyethylamine, γ-methoxypropylamine and γ-ethoxypropylamine, β-butoxyethylamine, γ-propoxy- or γ-isopropoxypropylamine, hexoxyethylamine and hexoxypropylamine and the like.
After the acylation or
Amidation, substituents can still be introduced into the dye molecule or protected groups can be set free again. For example, after acylation of the aminoanthraquinone, a sulfonamide group can be converted into an amino group by treatment with an alkali. In a variant of the process described, after acylation is complete, a sulfonic acid group in the 2-position of a 1-aminoanthraquinone which has a substituent of the formula (1) in the 4-position can also be split off.
According to this variant, which also leads to the dyes free of sulfo and carboxy groups according to the invention, the sulfonic acid group present in the 2-position is split off, e.g. 3. reductively in weakly acidic to alkaline, preferably aqueous, medium using weak reducing agents such as sodium sulfide, glucose, cellulose xanthate, hydroxyalkanesulfonic acids, zinc or sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate, or else using stronger reducing agents such as sodium dithionite, thiourea dioxide and the like. The reduction is expediently carried out at a moderately elevated temperature, for. B. made at 20-60 C. After the 2-position sulfonic acid group has been split off, the dyes formed can, if appropriate, be reoxidized.
The dyes according to the invention are thus obtained even in those cases in which the treatment with reducing agents has not only caused the splitting off of the sulfonic acid group in the 2-position of the anthraquinone nucleus, but also a reduction in the anthraquinone dye.
The sulfonic acid group located in the 2-position of the anthraquinone nucleus can not only be split off reductively, as described in the previous paragraph, but also by reaction with alcohols or phenols. So you can z. 3. Introduce alkoxy or phenoxy groups in the 2-position. This introduction is expedient by heating a 1-aminoanthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid, which has a substituent of the formula (1) z. 3. Has in the 4-position, in the presence of alkali in alcohols or phenols, eg. 3. in glycol, made at 100-1500 C.
The products obtainable according to the present process and its variants are new. They are soluble in organic solvents such as esters and especially in alcohol and acetone. They are used for coloring natural or artificial resins, waxes, lacquers and plastic materials, e.g. ethers or esters made of cellulose, for example for spin dyeing acetate silk and for dyeing natural or synthetic polymers or condensation products and especially suitable for the production of ballpoint pen inks.
With the dyes according to the invention z. B. dye acetate rayon in clear, genuine tones using the spin dyeing method.
In the following examples, unless otherwise stated, parts are parts by weight, percentages are percentages by weight, and temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
example 1
41 parts of 1-amino-4- (3'-aminophenylamino) anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid are dissolved in 1000 parts of water and 4 parts of sodium hydroxide. 42 parts of benzenesulfonic acid-N - ('- isopropoxypropyl) -amid-3-sulfonic acid chloride (obtained by diazotizing aminobenzene-3-sulfonic acid-N, γ-isoproppoxypropylamide and reacting the diazo compound in the presence of copper chloride with Sulfur dioxide and HCl) and keeps the pH value at 6-7 by adding sodium hydroxide solution. The acylation is complete after a short time.
The dye is desulphonated in a known manner by treatment with sodium dithionite at 25-30, separated and washed. When dried, it is a dark blue powder, easily soluble in acetone, which dyes acetate silk spinning mass in reddish blue, real tones.
Example 2
12.7 parts of 1-methoxy-4-aminoanthraquinone are dissolved in 300 parts of pyridine and 22 parts of 1-chlorobenzene-4-isopropoxy-propyl-sulfamide-2-sulfochloride are added with stirring. After stirring at reflux for one hour, the acylation is complete. The pyridine is distilled off with steam, filtered and the dye obtained is washed with dilute sodium hydroxide solution in water. When dried, it is a dark yellow powder which is soluble in acetone and which dyes acetate silk spinning mass in real golden yellow tones.
In an analogous manner, by acylating the aminoanthraquinones of column I with the sulfochlorides of column II, similar anthraquinone sulfamides can be prepared, the color of which is given in the acetate spinning mass in column III.
