Fig. 2 eine Seitenansicht eines Reifens mit Laufstreifen und Bindegummi,
Procedure for replacing worn vehicle tires
The invention relates to a vulcanization process for renewing worn air or solid rubber tires by vulcanizing a pre-vulcanized tread onto the carcass of the tire by means of binding rubber and removing the gaseous inclusions by negative or positive pressure in an overpressure space in a medium containing the necessary temperature for vulcanization .
Methods are known for renewing tires by applying treads, in which a tube is inserted into the tire and inflated and then the joined parts are clamped into a rigid mold and vulcanized. Since a corresponding shape has to be available for each tire size, this process has now become uneconomical.
A method of this type is also known in which the assembled parts are placed in a rubber sleeve and the air is removed from the sleeve. In this state, the tire with the casing is then introduced into an overpressure chamber for vulcanization. A rigid shape is no longer required, so that the method is less expensive both financially and spatially. In the case of profiled treads, especially those with high profiles, different pressures can arise on the binding rubber below the profiled edges, which means that shifts can occur within the binding rubber, which then vulcanizes to different degrees. The latter shortens the life of the tire and carries the risk of the tread becoming detached.
With the method according to the invention, after the exit points have been closed during assembly, an even pressure then acts in the overpressure space at all points on the tire, so that displacements within the binding rubber are avoided.
It is also known that treads with higher profiles are not to be rolled out. When rolling, the pressure roller cannot penetrate the profile depths, it bridges the profile recesses so that the air that pushes in front of the pressure roller is trapped under the bottom rubber in the profile base. In order to eliminate this disadvantage, a rubber skin can be stretched over the profile up to the side of the tire and a vacuum can be created between the tread and the carcass. Then the tread can be rolled on with the binding rubber and carcass without air pockets and the exit points can be glued.
So far, deformations have occurred when tires are heated freely in an air or steam mixture, due to the weight of the tire itself. In order to completely avoid these deformations of the tire during heating in the excess pressure space, the container can be filled with a liquid whose weight corresponds to that of the tire. After the tire or tires have been placed in the boiler, a vacuum is created for a short time in order to remove the air trapped in the hollow tire bodies. After this air or air bubbles have been discharged, the tires are in a state of suspension in the liquid and are not subject to any deformation forces.
The method according to the invention is also suitable for multi-part treads, where several exit points are created when they are applied. The latter can be closed in the same way as a single exit point. One advantage of the process is that the vulcanization process can be carried out without the previously necessary auxiliary equipment, such as molds or entire casings or frames, in the overpressure space.
The procedure can be carried out in various ways, based on the following scheme: 1. Treads and binding rubber are placed on the Kar cash register, 2.a) the treads are rolled to remove the harmful ones
Remove air inclusions to the side, or 2.b) a rubber skin or a ring made of elastic material is placed over the tread to below the point where the binding rubber occurs and the air is sucked out, 2.c) a hollow body is placed over the tread and pressed on in order to press out the harmful air pockets from the center to the side, 3.Swipe or remove the exit point of the binding rubber between the barrel.
The end of the cleat and the carcass are tightly closed - according to 2.b) under vacuum - this can be done by: 3.1 rolling up a film, 3.2 spraying or other application of material, 3.3 vulcanizing the exit point, 4. the tire with the closed exit point is in introduced an overpressure chamber in order to carry out the vulcanization of the still unvulcanized binding rubber.
To carry out the method, for. B. preheating by means of high frequency or a flat heating plate can only be made at the exit points of the binding rubber on both sides of the tire.
It does not matter whether the heating plate is heated electrically or in some other way. If the heating rings are pressed on, only the contact surface vulcanizes, i.e. H. the outer layer of the binding rubber at the exit point, so that on the one hand the position of the tread is fixed, on the other hand the still unvulcanized amount of the binding rubber is enclosed on all sides.
The heating plate can be profiled on the contact surface with the binding rubber or a profiled plate is connected upstream. In the case of a sawtooth-like profiling, it is advantageous to align the tips of the teeth from both outer sides to the center of the exit point of the binding rubber, so that the tread and carcass are held together during the pressing and none of these parts can move outwards or inwards.
In another embodiment of the method according to the invention, a cover strip or a film is glued or welded over the exit point of the binding rubber so that the binding rubber is enclosed on all sides and the vulcanized tread remains firmly connected to the carcass during vulcanization. Instead of the film, a hardening heat-resistant compound can be sprayed or applied in some other way, e.g. B. with a brush. In addition, a profiled plate or the like can be placed under the film or under the spray or application material for profiling.
Instead of the film, an elastic sheathing and welding under the exit point can take place in the same sense; This also ensures that the binding rubber is enclosed on all sides and a displacement of the running surface is prevented during vulcanization.
A particularly favorable and simple embodiment of the method according to the invention is the use of an elastic hollow ring which is spread over the exit point. The shape of this ring gives the latter a tension that improves the finish at the edges. The edges of the ring can taper outward and taper to lips.
The air under the rings is z. B. removed by suction or pressing.
If a displacement of the tread and the escape of the binding rubber is prevented in one of the ways described above, the entire tires can now be stacked in a pressurized space without any auxiliary device for vulcanizing.
The treads to be applied can be manufactured as endlessly heated rings or flat heated strips, the latter being cut off before or during the process and welded to form rings.
A tread that is particularly suitable for the method is a tread which is already provided with tapering edges during the pre-vulcanization, which have a smaller radius than the shoulders of the carcass. As a result of this measure, the edges of the tread rest against the carcass with pre-tensioning when it is placed on the carcass, so that when the adhesive force decreases when the binder is vulcanized, loosening and air penetration at the edges are reliably avoided. In contrast to the known, flat treads, which are known to have to remain closed with the carcass during vulcanization when they are placed, the tread can be applied with pre-tensioned edges without more or less expensive aids.
Another advantage is that treads with a fabric reinforcement in the lower rubber can be placed without difficulty.
Several exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown schematically in the drawing:
1 shows a cross section through part of a tire and through a laterally arranged heating ring,
2 shows a side view of a tire with tread and binding rubber,
3 shows a cross section through a part of a tire in which the exit point is covered with a film,
4 shows a cross-section through part of a tire in which the exit point is covered with an elastic ring,
5 shows a cross section through part of a tire with a multi-part - here three-part tread,
6 shows a cross section through a pre-vulcanized tread with tapering edges, the inner radius of which is smaller than the radius of the shoulders of the carcass.
In the figures, 1 'denotes the tire on whose carcass 1 the new tread 2 is to be vulcanized with the interposition of the binding rubber 3. For this purpose a heating ring 4 is pressed onto the exit point 5 of the binding rubber 3 on both sides of the carcass 1.
Since the gaseous inclusions remaining under the tread must be removed before the exit points are closed, the skin 12 pulled over the exit points is pressed airtight onto the carcass by a projection 6 'of the heating ring 4 before the ring is finally pressed against the exit points. As a result of the heating, the binding rubber is vulcanized on the surface of the exit point 5 and connects the tread 2 firmly to the carcass 1.
At the same time, the rest of the binding rubber is enclosed on all sides, so that the entire surface of the tread and carcass can be vulcanized together in the overpressure space without a cover or other aids. A sawtooth-like profiling 6 is provided on the heating ring 4, the teeth of which are preferably directed from the outside towards the center of the exit point 5, in order to prevent both the carcass and the tread from escaping. The surface of the heating ring or the heating plate that comes into contact can also be curved in a concave or convex manner.
A closure of the exit point 5 of the binding rubber 3 can also be achieved by welding a film 7 on the carcass on the one hand and on the tread on the other hand via the exit point 5 at the points marked 9. Both the inner surface of the film can be profiled and a profiled plate can be placed under the film (FIG. 3).
In the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 4, the connection rubber exit point 5 is terminated by an elastic, hollow ring 10. In the drawing, the ring is shown in its initial position. This ring 10 has tapering edges that nestle well against the carcass and the tread. The back of the ring is thickened so that a certain tension is present in the ring, which already creates a certain pressure of the edges on their support. A valve 11 can be used in the ring, through which the air under the ring can be removed. The middle part of the inner surface can have a profile.
According to FIG. 5, the tread consists of three parts, namely the upper part 2 with an approximately rectangular cross section and the two side parts 2 'with an approximately triangular cross section. This multi-part tread creates two exit points of the binding rubber on both sides when it is placed, both of which are covered. This is done, as shown, with a film 7 or the like. Each exit point can also be covered on its own.
The cross section shown in FIG. 6 relates to a pre-vulcanized tread 2 "with tapering edges 20, the inner radius R of which is smaller than the radius of the shoulders of the carcass 1 on which this smaller radius R comes to rest 2 ″ generates a tension in the outgoing edges 20, which supports the secure fit of the edges. A fabric reinforcement 13 can also be built into the lower rubber in the tread 2 ″.
