Method of manufacturing a toothed mobile for an angle gear
and device for implementing the method
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a toothed mobile for an angle gear according to which a toothing is milled in the blank of the mobile then each tooth is cut so as to correct part of its flanks, as well as a device for implementing the method.
Swiss invention disclosures Nos. 419798 and 427462 describe a process of this kind and an operating machine. This has two strawberries. The part to be machined is mounted in a headstock capable of being displaced in rotation by an indexing device which brings the blank of the mobile in succession in different orientations offset from one another by a pitch of the teeth to be milled. .
This method and this device are affected by the defects inherent in the cutting methods in which each tooth is milled successively following an indexing operation.
The aim of the present invention is to provide a method and an implementation machine which remedy these drawbacks.
For this, the method according to the invention is characterized in that one carries out the milling of the toothing and the correction size of the teeth by generation using two milling cutters integral with the same drive shaft and which are successively brought into working position by subjecting said shaft to a lateral displacement during which it remains at least approximately parallel to itself.
The device for implementing the method is characterized in that it comprises a first spindle intended to receive the workpiece, a second spindle provided with two cutters, means for driving said spindles at speeds having between them a constant ratio and means for moving the second spindle axially and laterally.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the device according to the invention and a variant.
Fig. 1 is a schematic and partial top plan view of the first embodiment of the device during the first milling operation.
Fig. 2 is a similar view of the same device during the second milling operation.
Fig. 3 is a partial side elevational view of the machine of FIGS. 1 and 2.
Fig. 4 is a schematic and partial top plan view of the second embodiment of the machine.
Fig. 5 is a side elevational view of the machine of FIG. 4.
Fig. 6 is also a partial schematic top plan view of a variant of this embodiment, and
fig. 7, a side elevational view of the variant shown in FIG. 6.
Figs. I and 2 show a machine which comprises on a base (not shown) a doll 1 inside which is mounted a first spindle 2, the clamp 3 of which receives a blank 4 of the pinion, this blank being oriented so that the teeth axis of the pinion is within the scope of the tools described below. The general support of the machine (not shown) comprises a first block 5 which has in one of its vertical faces extending in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the spindle 2 a dovetail groove 6. In this groove is mounted a slide 7 integral with a guide block 8 itself having a rib 9 arranged vertically and whose profile is trapezoidal. The slide 10 which has the dovetail groove 11, is guided by the block 8 and carries a hinge 12 on which the support 13 is articulated.
The latter carries a second pin 14 whose axis is parallel to the pivot axis of the hinge 12 and located in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the pin 1.
Means (not shown) are provided to make it possible to vary within limits of the order of 100 to 200 the orientation of the axis of the tool spindle 14 relative to the average position shown in the drawing. The spindle 14 is movable in the support 13 along its axis with sufficient room for maneuver so that the toothing cutter 15 and the correction cutter 16 mounted side by side on the spindle 14 can be brought successively into the required position to attack the spindle. 'draft 4.
A telescopic shaft 17 connected by two ball joints 18 and 19 to the spindle 14 and to the axis of a mobile gear 20 as well as a gear train generally designated by 21 and one of the shafts of which is coupled to a motor ensure the drive of the spindle 14 whatever its position. The shaft 22 integral with one of the moving parts 23 of the train 21 and carrying a worm 24 which is engaged with the toothed wheel 25 mounted on the spindle 2, ensures the drive of the blank 4, at a speed which is in a strictly determined relationship with the speed of spindle 14.
The cutter 15 is a conventional cutter provided for cutting the axial teeth of the pinions. Its heli cotidal net whose profile reproduces the space between two teeth to be cut, has a pitch which is equal to that of the den
ture to prune.
For the first cutting operation by means of the cutter 15, the axis of the hinge 12 is placed at a height such that at the end of the sinking movement, the axis of the spindle 14 is at a height corresponding approximately in the middle of the thickness of the teeth. The progressive sinking movement during which the toothing is cut with the milling cutter 15 is therefore a movement in an arc of a circle which ends in a tangent parallel to the generatrices of the cylinder which externally limits the teeth of the pinion.
Once the first pass has been made in this way, the pinion has axial toothing with the usual profile. The flanks
of each tooth are ruled surfaces of generatrices parallel to the radial plane passing through the top of the
tooth.
For the second phase which includes the operation of
correction of the outer parts of the tooth flanks,
uses the cutter 16 which comprises two parallel helical threads delimiting between them a concave profile, having the shape that the opposite sides of two adjacent teeth must have after correction. Pin 14
is brought into a position where the tool 16 is in
look at part 4, its axis being higher than
the upper generator of the blank. The pro's step
helical wire of cutter 16 is also equal to that
that the teeth must have.
Therefore, this strawberry
successively attacks all the teeth cut by the
cutter 15 during a complete spindle rotation
2, the bur passing from tooth to tooth at each turn
of spindle 14 and the rotation of spindle 2 being equal
one step away from the teeth for a full turn of the bro
che 14. Thanks to the fact that the second spindle has been
born in a position where it is parallel to the position
primitive but shifted upwards, the portions of
active faces formed during this operation in
each of the flanks of the teeth of part 4 are located on
the outer sides of the teeth. They meet two at
two along curvilinear edges located in planes containing the axis of the mobile. A pinion is thus obtained which exhibits the characteristics described in patent No. 419798.
The machine shown in fig. 4-7, uses cutters 26 and 27 which are identical to cutters 15 and 16.
They are mounted on a tool spindle 28 movable axially and angularly on a support block 29 connected by a hinge 30 to a carriage 31 whose dovetail groove 32 is engaged on the rib 33 of the slide 34 provided with it. even of a rib 35 which slides in the support block 36. The gear train 37 as well as the telescopic shaft device 38 and the worm drive 39 'and 40' are similar to the elements 21, 17, 24 and 25 of the first embodiment. Only the supports 39 and 40 differ from this first embodiment, between which the two parts 41 and 42 of the spindle connected to the pinion 40 'are mounted. As can be seen in particular in FIG. 5, these two parts 41 and 42 are arranged so as to secure between them a blank 43 of radially toothed pinion.
In this case, the sinking movement carried out by means of the cutter 26 for milling the toothing, is a vertical movement from top to bottom, the axis of the spindle 28 being in the plane of symmetry of the pinion 43. On the other hand , the correction pass effected by means of the milling cutter 27, is accomplished by placing the axis of this milling cutter in a position offset laterally with respect to the plane of symmetry of the blank teeth.
In two passes, a pinion is obtained capable of meshing with a wheel having normal teeth and the axis of which is perpendicular to that of the pinion.
The sinking movement during the second pass takes place according to arrow 44.
Figs. 6 and 7 show a variant of the machine of FIGS. 4 and 5. Instead of the pin 28 being carried by the support 29 mounted by means of a hinge on the block 31, it is mounted on the support 45 which slides vertically on a mobile block 46 itself horizontally and in a direction parallel to the axis of the pins 41 and 42 on a fixed frame member 47, so that by combining movements of the block 46 and of the support 45 or by moving only one of these members it is possible to obtain movements of the spindle 28 according to all the variants that can be produced from the elementary displacements 48a and 48b taken individually or in combination in any order,
so that the portions of active surfaces formed on one
of the sides of the teeth of the pinion 43 have exactly
the desired look.
Also in the case of this variant, the position
of spindle 28 can be changed in an angle of 100
to 200 as shown by arrows 49 and 50, in order to
allow the pitch of cutters 26 and 27 to be adapted to the pitch
effective that the mobile to manufacture must have.
The control of the trolleys and slides will not be
not described in detail. Its realization complies with
usual techniques in this field.
We have thus created a machine that allows you to cut
elements such as
pinions capable of working smoothly and without
shock in angle gears with fitted parts
of usual teeth directly meshing
ment with other moving parts whose axes are parallel
to those of said parts.
Applications of the method and of the device to mobiles for watch movements are excluded from the protection.
