Fig. 1 einen Brenner im Querschnitt
Fig. 2 zwei Ausführungsformen der Zündfläche
Fig. 3 einen Längsschnitt dunch einen Glühzünder

Burners for burning gas mixtures and processes for their operation
The invention relates to a burner for burning gas mixtures with a low Zündge speed and high ignition temperature, in particular a natural gas-air mixture, and a method for its operation.
In burners for industrial furnaces, which are operated, for example, with natural gas or coke oven gas, there is a risk that the room temperature of the furnace, e.g. B. a drying oven or a tempering oven, is below the ignition temperature of the gas mixture. In such cases the burner will go out and the gas mixture can flow out unburned, which can have serious consequences under certain circumstances.
The purpose of the invention is therefore to create a burner which has stable burning properties and thus eliminates the disadvantage mentioned.
The burner according to the invention is characterized in that it has a ceramic or ceramic-lined combustion chamber with a heatable ignition surface grounded therein and with a fuel gas pipe connected to it, the diameter of which is smaller than that of the combustion chamber.
The method according to the invention for operating the burner is characterized in that the gas mixture is allowed to flow in at a speed below the ignition speed and the fuel gases are allowed to flow out at a speed substantially above the ignition speed.
The ignition surface, which can be heated above the ignition temperature, is preferably heated by reflection of the combustion gases and the catalytic effect, and this results in the continuous ignition of the gas mixture entering the combustion chamber.
The ignition surface, which can be heated to above ignition temperature, can be formed by the surface of a perforated plate facing the combustion chamber, a part that widens in the manner of a diffuser or a catalytically active wire mesh.
A glow igniter is expediently arranged in the area of the combustion chamber and initially ignites the gas mixture entering the combustion chamber before the burner is continuously ignited. This glow igniter can be an electrically heated igniter with a bimetallic contact, which interrupts the ignition current of the glow igniter after the initial ignition of the gas mixture has taken place and, if the supply of gas mixture fails, energizes the glow igniter again.
In the following, exemplary embodiments of the burner according to the invention are explained with reference to the drawing. They represent:
1 shows a burner in cross section
Fig. 2 shows two embodiments of the ignition surface
3 shows a longitudinal section through a glow starter
4 shows a partial section through the burner with a built-in glow igniter.
According to FIG. 1, the burner consists of a two-part hollow metal body 1 which is lined with ceramic and forms a combustion chamber 4. At that point of the combustion chamber 4 where the gas mixture flows in, a perforated plate 2 is used, the surface 2 of which is located transversely to the direction of gas flow and is heated to a temperature above the ignition temperature. The flow rate of the gas mixture in the combustion chamber 4 is lower than the ignition rate. The combustion gas pipe 5, which has a smaller diameter than the combustion chamber 4, results in a high exit speed for the exhaust gases. The ignition speed of the gas mixture is exceeded by 20 to 30 times, which is caused by a tight flame.
According to FIG. 2, the surface which can be heated above the ignition temperature can also be formed by a part 6 widening in the manner of a diffuser or by a wire mesh inserted into the combustion chamber, which acts like a catalyst.
In the area of the combustion chamber 4, a glow igniter 8 is attached, which initially ignites the gas mixture when the burner is cold.
Another embodiment of the glow igniter is shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.
The glow igniter shown here is electrically heated and consists of a heating wire 10 and a bimetal contact 9, which is closed when the burner is cold. After the gas mixture has been ignited, the contact opens as the bimetal heats up. If the ignition current is interrupted and if the fuel gas supply fails, the glow igniter is switched on again as the bimetal has cooled down.
