Description
Behälter aus thermoplastischem Kunststoff Die Erfindung betrifft einen Behälter aus thermo plastischem Kunststoff mit flüssigkeitsdichtem Ver schluss, bestehend aus einem Gefäss, einem Deckel und einem Spannring aus Metall.
Zur Lagerung und Transport von körnigen, pastösen und pulverförmigen Füllgütern werden im Gross versand Hobbocks, Trommeln sowie andere fass- und quaderförmige Behälter bzw. Weithalsgebinde verwen det. Diese Behälter werden hauptsächlich aus Blech, Holz, Kunststoff und Pappe hergestellt. Von allen die sen Materialien zeichnen sich die Kunststoffe durch ein vorteilhaftes Verhalten bei Schlag- und Stossbeanspru- chung aus. Da die Kunststoffe durch Wasser nicht quellen, wird ihre Festigkeit durch Nässe nicht beein trächtigt. Aus Kunststoffen hergestellte Behälter ge währleisten daher einen grossen Einsatzbereich und eine hohe Transportsicherheit.
Deshalb besteht ein steigender Bedarf an Behältern aus thermoplastischen Kunststoffen, insbesondere aus Polyäthylen.
Derartige Behälter aus thermoplastischem Kunst stoff mit flüssigkeitsdichtem Verschluss, die aus einem Weithalsgefäss, einem Spannring aus Metall und einem Deckel mit Dichtlippe und gegebenenfalls einer ring förmigen Dichteinlage bestehen, sind bereits bekannt.
Für den Verschluss des aus Gefäss und Deckel be stehenden Gebindes wird meistens ein Spannring aus Metall verwendet. Die stapelfähige Ausführung von Boden und Deckel des Behälters ist ebenfalls ein übliches Gestaltungsmerkmal. Für die Handhabung können fer ner seitliche Griffe angeordnet werden, die bei stapel fähiger Ausführung umklappbar sind. Bei üblichen Aus führungen weist der Gefässhals eine Bördelung oder einen Bund auf.
Der Deckel, der ein ringförmiges Dichtelement haben kann, wird auf den Halsrand aufge setzt und der dichte Verschluss durch die Flächenpres sung erzielt, die sich durch die umlaufende Umklamme rung von Halswulst und Deckelrand durch den profi lierten Spannring einstellt. Zur Zentrierung des Deckels und zur Erhöhung der Steifigkeit kann der Deckel in- nerhalb des Dichtrandes eingezogen sein oder innen eine umlaufende Dichtlippe aufweisen.
Die internationalen Prüfvorschriften verlangen un ter anderem, dass der Verschluss einen Fall aus 1,2 m Höhe unter einem Winkel von 45 zwischen der Fall richtung und der Gebindelängsachse flüssigkeitsdicht besteht. Versuche haben ergeben, dass Behälter aus thermoplastischem Kunststoff mit herkömmlichen Ver schlüssen dieser Anforderung nicht mit Sicherheit genü gen. Massgeblich dafür ist das besondere Deformations- verhalten der Kunststoffe, das sich durch eine grosse elastische Nachgiebigkeit und Rückstellung auszeichnet.
Zweck der Erfindung ist es somit, einen Behälter aus thermoplastischem Kunststoff zu schaffen, welcher den Anforderungen des vorgeschriebenen Fallversuches genügt und die Nachteile bestehender Ausführungen nicht aufweist.
Der erfindungsgemässe Behälter der eingangs er wähnten Art ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Ge fässhals aussen eine umlaufende Wulst und darunter eine umlaufende, nutartige Verjüngung aufweist, dass der Deckel mit einem nach unten abgewinkelten Rand und einer inneren ringförmigen Dichtlippe versehen ist, und dass der Spannring im unteren Teil ein bis in den Grund der notartigen Verjüngung eingreifendes Profil besitzt.
Der Behälter kann einen zylindrischen oder tonnen- förmigen Gefässmantel haben oder kubisch ausgeführt sein. Im Bedarfsfall können Boden und Deckel so pro filiert werden, dass sie eine rutschsichere Stapelung ge währleisten. Für die Stapelung werden die Gebinde vor zugsweise mit umlegbaren Traggriffen versehen.
Nachstehend wird ein Ausführungsbeispiel des er findungsgemässen Behälters anhand der Zeichnung nä her erläutert. Es stellen dar: Fig. 1 eine Seitenansicht mit Teilausschnitt des Be hälters, Fig. 2 eine Draufsicht des Behälters in Fig. 1 und Fig. 3 den in Fig. 1 mit Z bezeichneten Aus schnitt in grösserem Massstab.
In den Figuren sind ein Gefäss 1 mit umlaufender Wulst 2 und hutartiger Verjüngung 3 des Gefässhalses sowie ein Spannring 4 aus Metall mit einem Profil 5, das unten bis in den Grund. der hutartigen Verjüngung eingreift, gezeigt.
Ferner sind ein Deckel 6 mit nach unten abgewinkeltem Rand 7, ringförmiger Dichtlippe 8, radialgerichteten Versteifungsrippen 9 und ringförmiger Dichtung 10 sowie umlegbare Traggriffe 11 dargestellt.
Ein Behälter bzw. Weithalsgebinde, bestehend aus Deckel 6 und Gefäss 1 aus Niederdruckpolyäthylen der Dichte 0,95 g/cm3, einem Spannring aus 1,25 mm dickem Blech und einem Dichtring aus Moosgummi, wurde der vorgeschriebenen Fallprüfung unterzogen. Ein Aufprall aus 1,2 m Fallhöhe bei 45 Schräglage zur Fallrichtung wurde bei einem Wasserballast von 60 kg flüssigkeitsdicht überstanden. Der Deckel wurde durch Spritzgiessen hergestellt. Die Deckelscheibe hatte eine Wanddicke von 3 mm und war mit acht radialgerichte ten Versteifungsrippen gleicher Dicke versehen.
Zur Ver meidung von Kerbwirkungen waren alle Kanten mit einem Radius von 1 mm abgerundet. Der Deckelrand und die Dichtlippe hatten beide eine Wanddicke von 4 mm. Die Ringnut zwischen Deckelrand und Lippe hatte am Grund beidseitig eine Hinterschneidung von 1 mm. Der Durchmesser des runden Dichtringes aus Moosgummi betrug 5 mm. Das Gefäss wurde durch Extrusionsblasformen hergestellt. Es hatte einen zylin drischen Gefässmantel und ein Gewicht von 3 kg.
Die Wanddicke des Halses betrug 3,5 mm, der Radius der äusseren Ringwulst 2,5 mm und der hutartigen Ver jüngung 5,5 mm.
Die beschriebene Gestaltung bewirkt, dass sich bei axial oder schräg einwirkenden Kräften der Deckel mit dem abgewinkelten Rand auf der äusseren Wulst und mit der Dichtlippe auf der oberen Ringfläche der hut artigen Verjüngung des Gefässhalses abstützt. Da der Spannring bis in den Grund der hutartigen Verjüngung eingreift, nimmt er bei dichtem Verschluss auch die vom Deckel auf den Gefässhals übertragene Axialkraft auf.
Der Deckelrand und die Halswulst haben vorzugsweise das gleiche Aussenmass. Die Ringnut zwischen Deckel rand und Dichtlippe kann am Grund eine hinter schnittene Kontur zur Halterung eines Dichtringes auf- wisen. Die Deckelscheibe wird bevorzugt in etwa halber Höhe der Dichtlippe angeordnet,
wodurch eine radiale Verstrebung der Dichtlippe erzielt wird. Zur Verstär kung können ferner radialgerichtete Stützrippen vorge sehen werden. Durch diese Konstruktion ist sowohl das Abscheren des Deckelrandes bei axialer Beanspruchung als auch eine zur Undichtigkeit führende Deformation von Deckel oder Gefässhals bei schräg einwirkenden Kräften unterbunden.

Therefore, there is an increasing demand for containers made of thermoplastics, in particular made of polyethylene.
Such containers made of thermoplastic material with a liquid-tight closure, which consist of a wide-necked vessel, a metal clamping ring and a lid with a sealing lip and optionally an annular sealing insert, are already known.
A metal clamping ring is usually used to close the container consisting of the vessel and lid. The stackable design of the bottom and lid of the container is also a common design feature. For handling, side handles can also be arranged, which can be folded down in the stackable version. In conventional designs, the neck of the vessel has a flange or a collar.
The lid, which can have an annular sealing element, is placed on the neck edge and the tight closure is achieved by the surface pressure that is set by the circumferential clasping of the neck bead and the lid edge through the profiled clamping ring. To center the cover and to increase the rigidity, the cover can be drawn in inside the sealing edge or have a circumferential sealing lip on the inside.
The international test regulations require, among other things, that the closure is liquid-tight when it falls 1.2 m high at an angle of 45 between the direction of fall and the longitudinal axis of the container. Tests have shown that containers made of thermoplastic with conventional closures do not meet this requirement with certainty. The decisive factor here is the special deformation behavior of the plastics, which is characterized by great elastic resilience and resilience.
The purpose of the invention is therefore to create a container made of thermoplastic material which meets the requirements of the prescribed drop test and does not have the disadvantages of existing designs.
The container according to the invention of the type mentioned at the outset is characterized in that the vessel neck has a circumferential bead on the outside and a circumferential, groove-like tapering underneath, that the lid is provided with a downwardly angled edge and an inner annular sealing lip, and that the clamping ring in the lower part has a profile reaching into the bottom of the emergency-like taper.
The container can have a cylindrical or barrel-shaped vessel jacket or be cubic. If necessary, the base and lid can be profiled so that they guarantee non-slip stacking. For stacking, the containers are preferably provided with folding handles.
An exemplary embodiment of the container according to the invention is explained below with reference to the drawing. The wall thickness of the neck was 3.5 mm, the radius of the outer annular bulge 2.5 mm and the hat-like tapering 5.5 mm.
The design described has the effect that, when forces act axially or obliquely, the lid is supported with the angled edge on the outer bead and with the sealing lip on the upper annular surface of the hat-like taper of the vessel neck. Since the clamping ring engages into the bottom of the hat-like taper, it also absorbs the axial force transmitted from the lid to the neck of the vessel when it is tightly closed.
The lid edge and the neck bead preferably have the same external dimensions. The ring groove between the lid edge and the sealing lip can have an undercut contour on the base to hold a sealing ring. The cover plate is preferably arranged at about half the height of the sealing lip,
whereby a radial bracing of the sealing lip is achieved. To strengthen effect, radially directed support ribs can also be seen easily. This construction prevents both the shearing off of the lid edge in the event of axial stress and a deformation of the lid or vessel neck leading to leakage when forces act at an angle.
