Brake unit on a rail vehicle 1 The invention relates to a brake unit on a rail vehicle, with at least one disc brake, a cylinder-piston unit for actuating the disc brake and a compensation element for equalizing the wear and tear of the braking surfaces, the disc brake having brake pads that are supported by two armed Levers are operable, which are connected to one another between their ends by a yoke, and the ends of the levers remote from the brake pads in the direction towards one another and towards one another can be operated during a braking cycle by means of at least one tie rod which is connected to an element which is used for conversion of rotary movements in longitudinal movements is used.
In the known brake units Baten of this type it was proposed to arrange a compensating member for the play in the cylinder-piston unit of the brake, in that the piston rod is designed in the form of two telescopically mutually movable Stan parts. In this case, the clearance compensation can be created by increasing the length of the piston rod. According to another proposal, an organ for shortening the length of a pull rod was provided in the braking force transmission system.
After certain proposals, the compensation organs provided are operated by hand, while other proposals allow automatic actuation of the compensation organs. The known designs of the brake units have the disadvantage that the game is significantly greater than it required during long operating times. This is justified by the fact that manual adjustments can only be made at certain intervals, with the game increasing steadily in these intervals. In the automatic compensation organs of the previously known designs, in which there is a change in the length of a rod which transmits a pulling force or a pushing force, there was insufficient accuracy.
It was therefore necessary to use a nominal clearance that was larger than desired.
The invention aims to provide a brake unit of the type mentioned, in which a constant, very small game can be maintained in a reliable manner.
According to the invention, this goal is achieved in that the compensating member is arranged in the brake unit between the cylinder-piston unit and the member for converting the rotary movements into longitudinal movements.
In an embodiment, which is particularly suitable for the simultaneous actuation of two disc brakes ge, one of the tie rods can be secured against a Drehbe movement against tubular parts with internal toothing of a rotatable screw assembly, which contains two rods for the transmission of train forces, each with one left and a right thread are provided, which meshes with a corresponding thread in the tubular parts.
The invention is explained with reference to the drawing cally illustrated embodiments. It shows: FIG. 1 a first brake linkage, viewed from above, partly in horizontal section, FIG. 2 some of the parts from FIG. I on a larger scale, FIG. 3 a view with partial section along the line III-II in FIG 2, Fig.
4 shows a plan view of a second brake linkage with a horizontal partial section, FIG. 5 shows some of the parts from FIG. 1 on a larger scale, FIG. 6 shows a partial section along the line VI-VI in FIG. 5, FIG. 7 shows a side view with partial section the structural design of an automatic compensating organ, which is used in the brake unit and is in a position that corresponds to the non-actuated brakes, and FIG. 8 is a side view of the compensating organ from FIG. 7 in a position with the brakes fully actuated.
As shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, two wheels 2 are rigidly attached to a rotatable axis 1 of a rail vehicle, only one of which is shown, and two brake discs 3 and 4, each brake disc 3 or 4 is to interact with a pair of brake pads 5 and 6 each determined. The inner brake pads 5 are pivotably attached to two-armed levers 7, which are pivotable about pins 7A. The outer brake pads 6 are pivotally attached to two-armed lifting, In 8, which are pivotable about pins 8A. Their ends remote from the brake pads 6 are attached by means of pins 9 to a fixed part of the vehicle frame, which is shown schematically in the figure.
The two levers 7 and 8 of each pair are connected to one another by a double yoke 10 which is guided in relation to the vehicle frame in order to transmit the braking forces in a manner known per se. The ends of the two two-armed levers 7 facing away from the brake pads are each pivotably connected to one of two tie rods 11 and 12. The rod 11 is provided with a left thread and the rod 12 with a right thread. The pivotable connections of the levers 7 and the rods 11 and 12 are guided in guides 7B, which are attached to fixed parts of the vehicle frame. The threads of the rods 11 and 12 mesh with corresponding internal threads of a rotatable tube 13, so that an arrangement in the manner of a clamping screw is created.
The tube 13 leads through a worm wheel of an automatic off equal organ of the type mentioned, which has a housing that forms a lever 14 in the linkage for driving the braking force to the disc brakes. Further details of the compensating member are explained in the fol lowing with reference to FIGS. The lever 14 is, however, as shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 indirectly through the worm wheel with the tube 13 by a spline connection, not shown, which allows an axial, but not an angular mutual movement of the worm wheel and the tube. The clearance compensation is performed by changing the mutual angular position of the lever 14 and the worm wheel on the tube 13.
The lift 14 is connected to the piston rod 15 of a pneumatic cylinder-piston unit, which also contains a cylinder 16. As best shown in Fig. 3, a handbrake rod 17 is fastened to the lever arm 14 by an elongated hole connection, which brake rod 17 allows actuation of the lever 14 through the piston rod 15 without affecting the hand.
Protective tubes 18 enclose the tube 13 and the adjacent parts of the rods 11 and 12. The access of impurities and water is prevented by rubber bellows ;: 19 and 20.
The brake linkage shown in Figs. 1 to 3 acts in the following way: When compressed air is supplied to the cylinder 16, the piston rod 15 is moved outward - see Fig. 3 - and rotates the lever 14 in a counterclockwise direction, the tube 13 is moved with the lever. Since the two threaded rods 11 and 12 are prevented from rotating, they are moved linearly and axially to one another in the longitudinal direction. Such an axial movement of the rods 11 and 12 has the consequence that the brake pads 5 and 6 are pressed against the brake discs 3 and 4 and cause the vehicle to be braked.
When the brake pads 5 and 6 are worn, the piston rod 15 must be moved a longer distance. The lever 14 must be pivoted through a larger angle before the brake pads 5 and 6 reach the disks 3 and 4.
The automatic compensation organ contained in the lever 14 now automatically compensates for play by changing the position of the lever 14 angularly with respect to the pipe 13 in a direction in which the play is reduced is called by moving the tube 13 counterclockwise.
The disc brakes can advantageously be built so that they have very little play between the brake pads and the discs. In this way, the transmission ratio of the linkage can be large without an excessively high piston stroke being required if the play can be kept constant. The use of a large translation ratio allows the use of a small and thus cheap and light brake cylinder with a very low consumption of pressure.
As can be seen from the drawing, the two rods 11 and 12 can be moved relative to one another by a significant length, which is sufficient to compensate for the entire wear and tear of all brake pads 5 and 6 without changing the geometry or the transmission ratio of the Brake linkage changed in such a way that the function of the Brem sen would be significantly affected.
The brake rod shown in FIGS. 4, 5 and 6 contains some details which correspond to the brake rod which is shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3. The axis 1, the wheels 2, the brake discs 3 and 4 and the brake pads 5 and 6 and the levers 7 and 8 with the yokes 10 are the same for both linkages shown.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 4, 5 and 6, however, the two-armed levers 7 are pivotably connected to Stan conditions 22 and 23, which in turn are pivotably connected to a two-armed lever 24 which is attached to a shaft 25. The shaft 25 is mounted in a rod 26, which in turn is pivotably connected to a part 27 of the vehicle frame. In this way, the rod 26 can perform a small pivoting movement in the horizontal direction, transversely to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.
Also attached to the vehicle frame is a brake cylinder 28 which is provided with a piston which has a piston rod 29 which is pivotably connected to a housing which forms a lever 30 in the linkage and which is part of an automatic balancing element which contains a worm wheel which is fixed to the shaft 25 and is of the type which is described below with reference to FIGS. A handbrake rod 31 is connected to the lever 30 by an elongated hole connection, so that movements of the piston rod 29 and the lever 30 are made possible without influencing the handbrake rod 31.
The brake structure shown in FIGS. 4, 5 and 6 operates in the following way: After brake air has been supplied to the brake cylinder 28, the piston rod 29 is moved outward and moves the lever 30 with the shaft 25 and the lever 24 counterclockwise as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5. Such a movement has the consequence that the rods 22 and 23 are moved linearly to each other in a substantially axial longitudinal direction, and the brake pads 5 and 6 against the Press brake discs 3 and 4. If the brake pads 5 and 6 are worn, the angular movement of the lever 30 exceeds a given limit value.
The automatic compensating element then causes an angular adjustment of the lever 30 relative to the shaft 25 in a clockwise direction. In this way, the limits of the movement of the piston rod 29 and the lever arm 30 remain in wesentli Chen throughout the life of the brake pads 5 and 6 unchanged.
The shaft 25 is held laterally by the rod 26 on the vehicle frame so that the braking force is always evenly applied to all brake pads, even if they are used unevenly. The automatic compensation member is held in a suitable manner by an additional rod 32 ge, which allows the required level of freedom. The shaft 25 is connected by a spline connection to the worm wheel in the compensating element. The compensating element causes the two brake rods shown to compensate for the game by changing the angular position of two adjustable in the direction of rotation, serving for transmission elements, namely the lever 14 or 30 and the worm wheel (with the tube 13 or the shaft 25).
The details of the compensating member are shown in FIGS. The compensating element contains a housing 33 in which a worm wheel 34 is located, which meshes with a worm 35 which is surrounded by a toothed wheel 36 which in turn meshes with a rack 37. The rack 37 contains a part 38 which engages in a slot 39 of a fixed part 40. The gear 36 is connected to the worm 35 by a one-way clutch 41 and a clutch part 42, against which the Schnicke 35 is pressed by strong spring washers 43.
When the brake is actuated, the toothed rod 37 is moved upwards. The rotation of the gear 36 caused thereby is not transmitted to the worm 35, however, since the one-way clutch 41 does not transmit movements in this direction. When the brake is released, the toothed rack 37 is moved back downwards. The rotation of the gear 37 is transmitted to the worm 4 as soon as the torque transmitted by the brake has dropped to a value which benfedern 43 is not sufficient to compress the disk.
The worm wheel 34 is thereby moved relative to the housing 30 in a direction in which the game is reduced, namely as soon as the reciprocating movement of the housing 33 during the time in which the braking forces are smaller than those to compress the Spring washers 43 required force that exceeds the game that is permitted between the protruding part 38 and the slot 39 of the fixed part 40.
Various changes can be made within the scope of the invention. So z. B. the tube 13 can be replaced by two coaxial tubes. The cylinder-piston unit can also be actuated by vacuum instead of compressed air.
