Flow-related logical device The invention relates to a flow-related logical device with at least one flow element.
Known flow elements contain an emitter and a collector, between which a flow of a fluid under pressure is formed, the emitter and the collector being located at opposite ends of an essentially closed working chamber. In the vicinity of the emitter, at least one control opening is formed, which is arranged such that it directs a flow of the fluid into the first flow such that the flow state of the fluid in the chamber is converted from a laminar state to a turbulent one becomes.
In the laminar working state, a relatively high dynamic pressure is obtained in the collector, while in the state with forced turbulence there is a relatively low regression of the pressure on the collector. The difference in pressures in both cases can easily be determined, either by mechanical devices or by other flow elements. The flow element is provided with an outlet line which leads from the working chamber into the surrounding atmosphere and through which the fluid escapes when the element is in the state of turbulent flow.
So far, fluidic elements of the type mentioned have been formed in relatively thin plate-shaped parts by means of appropriately designed grooves and bores. It is also known to interconnect a plurality of essentially identical flow elements in order to obtain a large number of logic circuits which are suitable for carrying out various control functions.
The known devices fell essentially into two different groups. Either they contained a circuit board with formed channels for a permanent connection of two or more flow elements, or they were provided with outer lines, through which different parts of the elements were optionally and interchangeably connected to each other, in each case the relevant logic circuit to build.
A major disadvantage of the known flow elements of the types mentioned was that organs for the external connection to lines for the supply of the flow medium were required on at least one of the wide surfaces of the plate-shaped part and / or a sealing cover plate. In the same way, other lines led to corresponding other flow elements. It was therefore not possible with the previous design of the flow elements to stack a plurality of individual plate-shaped parts on top of one another in order to form a unit in this way which contains a complicated logic circuit.
Another fact that prevented the formation of such units was the fact that the outlet openings, which are important for the way the flow element works in the turbulent state, were also ausgebil det in one of the wide areas of the plate-shaped part or a cover part. It was therefore necessary to keep this wide area freely accessible from the atmosphere.
The invention aims to avoid the disadvantages mentioned. The inventive device by which this goal is achieved, ge is characterized by a substantially closed .Arbeitskammer with an emitter opening, which is used to generate a laminar jet of a fluid medium, a collector opening which is arranged in such a way that it is the At least part of the laminar beam from the emitter opening is used,
At least one control device for influencing the flow condition of the fluid in the working chamber between a laminar condition and a condition with forced turbulence, as well as at least one outlet channel which is connected to the working chamber and serves to discharge the fluid from the chamber into the surrounding atmosphere , wherein the outlet channel extends away from the chamber, and leads to an outlet opening which is at a distance from the working chamber.
It is possible in the plate-shaped part to lead the grooves which form the outlet channels of the flow elements to a narrow side of the plate-shaped part in such a way that they remain in the plane of the surface of the plate-shaped part. The connection with the outside atmosphere thus takes place on the narrow side of the plate-shaped part instead of through bores which extend through the layer of the plate-shaped part. With such a design of the outlet organs of the flow element or a plurality of flow elements, it is possible to stack any number of plates on top of one another in order to form a logic switching device.
Other details of the inventive Strö flow element emerge from the following description of an exemplary embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings. There are shown: FIG. 1 a view of a flow device according to the invention, with parts broken away, FIG. 2 a view on a larger scale of the flow element used in the device according to FIG. 1, FIG. 3 a view of part of the device of Fig. 1,
4 shows a view of the circuit layer of the device from FIG. 1, FIG. 5 shows a partial section along the line 5-5 in FIG. 2 on a larger scale and FIGS. 6 and 7 show sections of modified embodiments of the invention.
In Figs. 1 and 2, a fluidic device 10 is shown which has a flat, rectangular. Has plate-shaped part 12, which is provided with geeicneten grooves and openings, which form a '.Mehrzahl of the same flow elements 14 which are out in the surface 16 of the part 12 forms.
% ie can best be seen from FIG. 2, each of the flow elements 14 contains an elongated working chamber 20 through which the fluid flows either in a laminar or a forced turbulent flow. An emitter opening 22 is arranged at one end of the working chamber 20. A collector opening 24 is located at the opposite end of the chamber 20. The working chamber is provided with at least one control opening 26 which opens into the working chamber to the side of the emitter opening 22.
Each flow element 14 is provided with a main line 28 which leads from a distribution line 30. The distribution line 30 extends essentially union along the entire length of the plate-shaped part 12, as can be seen from FIG. The distribution line 30 is seen with a connection channel 32 ver, which is used to supply the fluid under pressure from a suitable source. Each control opening 26 is connected by means of a groove 34 to an opening 36 through which the fluid used for control can be introduced into the chamber 20.
The collector opening 24 is in turn connected by means of a groove 38 to an opening 40 which is in turn connected to other flow elements or to pressure-sensitive control devices.
The flow element 14 is provided with an outlet channel which connects the element with the outside atmosphere, while it is essentially separated as a whole from the atmosphere. For this purpose, the element 14 is provided with at least one, but preferably two grooves 42, wel che to the working chamber 20 in the vicinity of the collector opening 24 and extend from the working chamber essentially in the flow direction of the fluid in the chamber but rope] I extend from opening 40. The '. \ Tuten 42 lead to one side 44 of the plate-shaped part 12 and open through openings 46 in the outer atmosphere.
The single flow element shown operates in the following manner. When a fluid is introduced through the connecting channel 3 =, it flows through the partial line 30 and the main line 28 of the element into the working chamber 20 in the form of a laminar jet. The jet strikes the collector opening 24 at a relatively high speed.
The resulting back pressure creates a relatively large regression of the pressure in the collector opening 24. The fluid then flows through the groove 38 to the opening 40 and from there to a point of further use. The flow rate and the size of the dynamic pressure are determined by the flow conditions downstream of the element. An excess fluid passes through the outlet grooves 42 to the outside.
If a fluid serving for control is introduced through one of the openings 36, it flows through the groove 34 and passes through the corresponding control opening into the working chamber 20. In the working chamber, this control means has the X1; 1ir- kun2, that it converts the flow emerging from the emitter opening 22 from a laminar jet into a flow with forced turbulence. In such a working state, the flow medium flows together through the outlet groove 42 and the outlet opening 46 to the outside.
In this case, the flow of the fluid emerging from the emitter opening 22 hits the collector opening 24 at a relatively low velocity, so that a smaller dynamic pressure is created. By introducing a control means through one of the control openings, the state of the flow element has thus been changed from a state on to a state # (off.
The working state of the flow element is converted from the forced turbulence to laminar flow simply in that the outflow of the control means into the working chamber 20 is interrupted. The state of the flow element then changes from the Off state to the On state.
The fluidic device 10 shown in Figure 1 contains a plurality of. same flow elements 14, which are arranged parallel to each other. Each flow element is independent of the others in the plate-shaped part 12, with the exception of the outlet organs. The grooves 42 of each element extend from the working chamber 20 on opposite sides of the opening 40 apart to a point where grooves 42 of adjacent elements connect, as indicated in FIG. 2 by the connection point .12a.
From the connec tion point 42a extends to the side 44 of the plate-shaped part 12, a common section 42b, which is assigned to two adjacent elements, with the exception of the elements that are located at the ends of the plate-shaped part. With this arrangement, a maximum cross section of the outlet organs is obtained with a small number of grooves in the surface 16.
The device shown in Fig. 1 can be used in various logic circuits who the. The main advantage of the arrangement of the outlet openings of the flow elements along one side of the plate-shaped part 12 is that the individual plates with the elements can be stacked on top of one another w: rd = n '. This allows composite circuits to be formed which contain more flow @ cl,: mc @ :: e than can be formed in one plate. So z.
B. a decimal Zuhlvorrichturg require a logic circuit which contains fifty individual flow elements. In this case, it is possible to stack several plate-shaped parts with the flow elements on top of one another and to connect them to one another by switching plates, as will be explained below.
FIG. 5 shows how a composite circuit can be constructed to form part of an integrated device. The plate-shaped part <B> 12 </B> is shown in section, with the surface 16 with the grooves that form the flow element being at the top. In the surface of the part 12 there is a thin film 50 made of Mylar or another comparatively less compressible but flexible plastic.
According to the illustration in FIG. 3, the film 50 is provided with suitably formed openings 52 and 5-4, which allow certain points of the flow element to be connected to a circuit board 56. The resilient foil 50 has the task of sealing the upper surface of the plate-shaped part 12 with grooves v 1, rse- chne, if the part 12 is not exactly flat and a rigid circuit board 56 is used.
On the other hand, the film 50 is intended to prevent the switching plate 56 from penetrating into the grooves of the str; iniungsefcnientes <B> 1-1 </B> if the switching plate 56 is formed from a rubber-elastic material.
The circuit board 56 is net angeord over the film 50 and is provided with suitable channels and bores, which bil the certain logic circuits, and connect at least two different flow elements 1-1. Thus, the switching plate 56, which is shown in det Fig. -1, is provided with two bores 60 and 62, which are connected by a channel 64, as well as with a further two bores 66 and 68, which are connected by a channel 70 .
The bores and channels form the circuit of a multivibrator, the function of which is described below.
Above the circuit board 56 there is a cover plate 72, which can be made of a relatively thick layer of rigid plastic. The cover plate serves to seal off all channels that are formed in the circuit board 56, with the exception of certain points at which a connection between the flow elements 14 and external sources or end points of the circuit should exist.
All the plates and foils shown are provided with openings 74 (FIGS. 1, 3 and 4) through which screws or rivets (not shown) can be passed in order to hold the parts of the device together.
An essential measure is that the switching plate 56 is preferably made of a relatively soft elastic material such as. B. rubber is formed. In this case, the circuit board 56 not only acts as a seal with channels but at the same time as a seal, so that additional seals are unnecessary, which would be required if the circuit board 56 were made of a rigid material.
If the logi cal device shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 5 is connected to the corresponding outer connections, it works in the following manner. A comparison of FIGS. 3 and 1 and FIGS. 4 and 3 shows that the openings 54 in the film 50 are connected to the openings 40a and 40b of the first and second flow elements 1.1 of the plate-shaped part 12. The openings 52 are in communication with the openings 36a and 36b of the flow elements. The openings 60 and 66 of the circuit board 56 are connected to the openings 54 of the film 50 and the openings 62 and 68 to the openings 52.
It thus creates a connection between the opening 40a of the first flow element and the control opening 36b of the second flow element and between the opening 40b of the second flow element and the control opening 36a of the first flow element.
A usable output power can be obtained from the flow elements in such a way that bores are formed in the cover plate 72, which bores make contact with the bores 60 and 66 of the switching plate 56. These bores are designated 80a and 30b in FIG. 5. The bores can with suitable connectors, such as. B.
Pipe sockets to which external lines can be connected. Similarly, the composite layers shown in FIG. 5 can be provided with bores which are in communication with the connection channel 32 in FIG. In this way, the fluid can be supplied to the flow elements 14 through the distribution line 30.
It is now assumed that the fluid flows under pressure through the main lines 28 of the first and second flow elements and that the flow through the first working chamber 20a is in a laminar state. In this case, a relatively high dynamic pressure arises in the opening .40a, the fluid passing through the bores 54 and 60, the groove 64, the bores 52 and 62, and through the opening 36b into the working chamber 20b in the form of a control flow flows.
This control flow keeps the flow of the fluid in the working chamber 20b in forced turbulence. At the same time, a substantial proportion of the fluid flows out through the opening 80a and can be used for a desired control function. In this state, the first flow element is in the on state and the second flow element is in the off state.
This state is maintained until a signal generated by the control fluid passes through one of the control openings 26 into the working chamber 20a. The control means is the opening 26 through a corresponding external connection, such as. B. a series of holes through the various plates he mentioned of foils, which is in communication with a control opening other than the opening 36a, is supplied. The flow of the control means results in a change in the jet of the flow medium in the working chamber 20a from a laminar state to a state with forced turbulence. This leads to the termination of the flow from the opening 40a to the external connecting line, such as to the working chamber 20b.
The latter circumstance has the consequence that the forced turbulent flow in the working chamber 20b returns to the laminar state. As a result, a flow of the fluid is started from the opening 40b, namely to an external connection through the bore 80b and to the working chamber 20a through the channel 70. This creates a sufficient control flow in the working chamber 20a, which is the main flow in the chamber keeps in a turbulent state. The first flow element is now in the off state and the second flow element is in the on state.
This state can only be reversed by feeding an input signal through the control means to the working chamber 20b, namely through a suitable connecting line from an external source to one of the control openings of the second flow element, but different from opening 36b.
The arrangement described can be used in the manner mentioned as well as in more complicated fluidic circuits. By appropriately designing the various layers of the device and by arranging corresponding mutual connections with external connection lines, a large number of circuits can be obtained which are suitable for complex control processes.
In FIG. 6, an embodiment is shown in which an element plate 100 is provided which has 102 flow elements in its upper surface. On top surface 102 is a sheet 104 of pliable material with a suitable array of openings, not shown. Above the flexible sheet 104 is a first elastic record 108 having openings and channels in a surface which form certain circuits and connect at least two of the flow elements formed in the surface 102. A second elastic switch plate 110 is located directly on the top surface of the first elastic switch plate 108.
It also has openings and channels formed in one surface, which form logic circuits and connect different parts of the circuits of the first plate with one another or directly with certain parts of the elements in the plate 100. A cover plate 112 is arranged above the upper circuit board 110, which serves to seal off the entire arrangement from the atmosphere. The upper circuit board 110 can be provided with suitable external lines depending on the type of circuits formed by the layers and the control function to be performed by them.
7 shows a further arrangement of the parts in which an element plate 200 is in the form of an intermediate layer of the assembled arrangement. In this arrangement, the element plate 200 has in its upper surface 202 formed flow elements, a flexible film 204 being arranged over this surface. In the flexible film openings are ausgebil det at certain points. A first circuit board 206 having a suitable shape of channels and openings is located over the flexible sheet 204 such that it connects various flow elements. A cover plate 208 is arranged on the circuit board 206 and can be provided with various connections for external lines in the manner described.
On the lower surface 212 of the element plate 200, a circuit board 210 is arranged, which is also provided with a suitable design of bores and channels, which form a circuit between two or more flow elements. It goes without saying that the element plate 200 in this case must be provided with bores which lead through the plate at all entry and exit points for the fluid which are in communication with openings in the lower circuit board 210. Finally, a second cover plate 214 is arranged on the lower surface of the circuit board 210, which seals the entire device from the atmosphere.
The lower cover plate 214 can also be seen with holes for connection to external lines. However, the lower circuit board can only be used to connect the individual flow elements to one another, with all external connections only being made through the upper cover plate 208.
It goes without saying that, with regard to the function, it is immaterial in which area of the circuit board or circuit boards the mutually connecting channels are formed, whether they face or face away from the element board. However, this fact can determine whether it is necessary to use a sheet of flexible, but not compressible ble plastic between a circuit board and the element plate. If z.
B. in the implementation of FIG. 6, the circuit boards are formed in such a way that their channeled surfaces of the two plates face each other, so another sheet of flexible material is required, which would have to be arranged between the circuit boards to avoid unwanted connection between different parts of the circuit. The blade would be provided in addition to the blade 104, which serves to prevent the elastic material of the switching plate 108 from being pressed into the recesses of the flow elements.
It is clear that the various plates can be arranged in different ways and that they can be e.g. B. stacked on top of each other in repeated sequences who can to provide circuits for the most complex control functions. This is achieved in that all connecting channels are formed inside the circuit boards so that external connections with the exception of the end plates are avoided and also in that the outlet organs of all individual flow elements are arranged along one side of the element plate, so that the wide surfaces of the plate isolated from the atmosphere who can and can be assembled with other plates in the array.
