<B> Device for the mechanical or thermal treatment of </B> liquid, pumpable semi-solid and solid substances. The main patent relates to a device for the mechanical or thermal treatment of liquid, pumpable semi-solid and solid substances in a housing with a product inlet at one end and a product outlet at the other end, in which a right-hand and a left-hand screw rotate in opposite directions parallel to one another and are at least partially in engagement with one another. With this device, the angular velocity or
Speed of rotation of at least one screw changes.
In general, one worm rotates at a constant angular speed, while the other worm receives its drive via a summation differential gear that temporarily adds or subtracts an angular speed component to the constant value of the angular speed. This means that, depending on the relative change in the angular velocities, the flanks of the screws approach one another or move away from one another. In two extreme positions, the flanks of the snails clean each other. As a result of the temporary change in the angular speed, an automatic cleaning of the screws is achieved.
There is no axial displacement of the worm shafts.
It has now been found that, even in the case of screw devices with co-rotating and therefore co-rotating screws, it can be advantageous to change the angular speed of at least one screw while the screws are rotating.
The present invention therefore relates to a device for the mechanical or thermal treatment of liquid, pumpable semi-solid and solid substances in a housing with a product inlet at one end and a product outlet at the other end by two screws rotating parallel to one another, at least partially with one another are in engagement and is characterized in that the screws are equal, rotate in the same direction and have play between the flanks and that the angular speed of at least one screw is temporarily changed during the rotation of the screws.
This device is operated in such a way that the relationships formulated in claim 1I of the main patent apply to this ratio of the angular speed of the two screws.
The previously known screw machines with co-rotating, co-rising screws are fitted into one another with the smallest possible technical clearance so that the thread flanks scrape off one another during rotation. In contrast to this known embodiment, in the device according to the invention, the screws that rise in the same direction and rotate in the same direction are designed so that their flanks have a certain distance from one another in the central position.
This makes it possible to change the distance between the flanks of the adjacent screws by changing the angular speed of one or both screw shafts, without the need for an axial displacement of the screw shafts. The storage of the worm shafts can therefore be carried out in normal bearings.
By changing the angular speed or the speed of a screw or the Winkelge speeds or speeds of both screws relative to each other, it is possible to change the position of the two screws to each other until adjacent thread flanks touch. This is the case in two extreme positions, namely the rear and front end positions. If the two screws rotate at the same angular speed, then they keep their current position to each other.
The terms middle position, front and rear end position are explained in the main patent for counter-rotating, differently rising screws. These terms apply analogously to the present invention. The difference in the arrangement of the screws to the device of the main patent is that in the present invention the screws are co-ascending, i. H. have the same thread twist and rotate in the same direction.
Figures 1 to 4 correspond to Figures 1 to 4 of the main patent with the difference that the screws shown therein are both right-handed and both rotate clockwise. In addition, everything applies in the same way to these embodiments of the invention, as is set out in the description of the main patent.
FIG. 6 shows a side view of the device of FIG. 5 and FIG. 7 is a vertical cross section along the line D-D of FIG. 6. The two screws 30 and 31 are arranged in an elongated housing, which consists of the two end walls 32 and 33 and the side wall 34. The bottom of the side wall 34 is, as can be seen from FIG. 7, adapted to the shape of the screws. The device is closed by the cover 35, which is not shown in FIG. The product inlet 36 leads through the cover 35 into the interior of the device.
The product treated in the device exits the device through the product outlet 37 which is attached to the bottom of the device at the opposite end. The side wall 34 is surrounded by the jacket 38 at some distance. The parts 34 and 38 form a double wall system for the passage of a heat exchange medium. The connecting pieces 39, 40 and 41 in the jacket 38 are provided for the inlet and outlet of the heat exchange medium. If steam is used for heating purposes, it can be introduced into the device through the connection pieces 39 and 40, for example. The condensate that forms in the double jacket is drained through the nozzle 41.
A liquid heat exchange medium, for example Kühlwas water, is supplied through the connection piece 41 and discharged through the connection piece 39 and 40. The screws 30 and 31 are right-handed and turn clockwise. The gear box 42, which carries the summing differential gear 10, the auxiliary motor 25, the clutch 43 and the drive motor 44, is attached to the end wall 33 of the device. The shaft 45 of the screw 31 is driven by the drive motor 44 via the coupling 43 at a constant speed. The shaft 45 of the worm 31 carries gear 46 which engages the gear 49 which is seated on the shaft 15 of the summation differential gear 10. The shaft 15 is therefore driven at the same speed Winkelge, but in the opposite direction of rotation as the shaft 45.
The input and output shafts 15 and 16 of the summing differential gear 10 rotate in opposite directions. The screws 30 and 31 therefore both rotate clockwise. When the auxiliary motor 25 on the summing differential gear 10 is switched off and locked at a standstill, the worms 30 and 31 maintain their position relative to one another during rotation, i. H. the distances between the thread flanks of one worm and the thread flanks of the other worm remain constant. As soon as the auxiliary motor 25 is switched on, the thread flanks of one worm approach those of the other worm.
This happens all the faster, the greater the speed of the auxiliary motor 25. When the screw has reached its end position, the auxiliary motor 25 is switched off and locked. The worms 30 and 31 then continue to rotate in one end position until the auxiliary motor is switched on in the opposite direction of rotation. The touching thread flanks of the two screws then move away from each other until the other two thread flanks of the screws touch in the other end position. The worms 30 and 31 rotate - viewed on the gear side - in a clockwise direction.
In this direction of rotation of the screws, the product to be treated is conveyed to the left from the product inlet 36 and removed downward through the product outlet 37 at the left end (cf. FIG. 7) of the apparatus. The screws and the housing can be made hollow in a known manner for the flow of a heat meaustauschmediums, as z. B. is indicated in Fig. 5 for the screw 31, which is partially shown in horizontal section. The heat exchange medium is fed through the hollow screw shaft and discharged through the hollow screw flight or vice versa.
The worm threads can also have other profiles, in addition to the triangular profile, for example rectangular, trapezoidal or sawtooth profiles. 8 to 10 are in schematic and exemplary Dar position horizontal sections through two screws GE shows. The threads of the worms of FIG. 8 have a trapezoidal cross-section, those of the worm of FIG. 9 have a sawtooth cross-section. In Fig.10 two worms are shown, the threads of which have rectangular cross-section.
Adjacent thread flanks of the two screws must have a certain finite distance from one another in the middle position, because otherwise it is not possible to change the position of the screws to one another. One. Screw profile, whose profile flanks form the legs of an isosceles or equilateral triangle, is favorable in many cases. Such a profile can be manufactured with little effort. It is advantageous if the threads of the worms are in engagement to the full thread depth, because then the shafts of the worms are also scraped free when the worms are changed from one end position to the other.
The device according to the invention is particularly advantageous when strong pressing and kneading forces are to be exerted on the material to be treated. To do this, the two screws can be quickly changed from one end position to the other. This is achieved by a high drive speed of the auxiliary motor 25.
In contrast to the Vorrich device of the main patent with different rising, counter-rotating screws, the device of the present invention offers the possibility of particularly intense pressing, mixing and kneading to erzie len because adjacent thread flanks in the two end positions on a larger area with each other Contact than is the case with counter-twist snails.
When the screw flanks rapidly approach an end position, a strong kneading effect is therefore exerted on the material to be treated in a device according to the invention. In contrast to counter-twist worms, there are also particularly high speed differences between the approaching thread flanks, because one thread flank rotates from top to bottom and the thread flank of the other worm rotates from bottom to top.
This is an advantage for a good mixing effect. If the change of the two screws from one end position to the other takes place very quickly, due to a high drive speed of the auxiliary motor 25, then a kneading or pressing action is exerted on the material between the screws. In some cases this can be desirable.
The various modes of operation of the device according to the invention can be achieved in a simple manner by the summation differential gear, in that the auxiliary motor 25 - if necessary automatically - is switched on or off or its speed is changed.
It can also be combined with two or more, Gleichsin nig rotating screws of the same pitch or glei chen twist, so z. B. two right-handed double-flighted snails. But it is also possible to combine screws of different threads in a device according to the invention, so z. B. a left-handed single-flighted worm with a left-handed double-flighted worm.
In a device according to the invention, screws of the same speed do not change their position relative to one another when - as already mentioned - they rotate at the same angular velocity. If two screws Q and P of different speeds are combined with one another in a device according to the invention and q denotes the number of turns of the screw Q, p the number of the other screw P and Wq the angular speed of the screw Q, Wp the angular speed of the screw P, then apply for the position of the screws to each other during rotation, or for the speeds n. and nq, the relationships formulated in the main patent.
