Nachfolgend wird ein Ausführungsbeispiel des Erfin dungsgegenstandes anhand der beiliegenden Zeichnung näher beschrieben. In der Zeichnung ist Fig. 1 ein Vertikalschnitt des Brenners entlang der Linie 1-1 in Fig.2 mit den daraus weggelassenen Tei len; Fig.2 ein Horizontalschnitt entlang der Linie 2-2 in Fig. 1 mit daraus weggebrochenen Teilen; Fig. 3 ein vergrösserter Vertikalschnitt der Brenner einheit entlang der Linie 3-3 in Fig.5 mit einigen angebauten Teilen;

Fig. 6).
Device for the combustion of flammable, buoyant substances contained in a non-flammable liquid The invention relates to a device for the combustion of flammable, buoyant substances deposited on the surface of a non-flammable liquid, in particular for use in waste water treatment plants, and to a method for operating the device according to the invention.
It is often necessary to burn off flammable oily substances that float on the surface of the water and cannot be removed in any other way. The substances can be contained in the water, as is the case with waste water, or can be fed to a burner, for example by means of a displacement pump, or in the case of solids by means of a screw conveyor. The buoyant fuels are slow to ignite and it is therefore difficult to achieve complete combustion due to the tendency of the substances to clog up during combustion, as in the formation of ash.
For the function of sewage systems and the associated systems, it is necessary to eliminate the schwimmba Ren fuels; however, the means used up to now to remove such substances have certain disadvantages such as high construction and operating costs and a poor effect.
In contrast, the device of the type identified at the outset is characterized according to the invention by a container consisting of a liquid-containing area, an upper combustion chamber, a smoke outlet, a device for supplying primary air under pressure into the combustion chamber in a jet just above the layer deposited substances, a device for the supply of secondary air into the combustion chamber under lower pressure than that of the primary air and a device for stirring the layer of combustible substances.
The method for operating the device according to the invention is characterized according to the invention in that primary air is blown across the surface of the liquid at high pressure during the combustion and, at the same time, secondary air at lower pressure is blown in larger quantities into the combustion chamber.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject of the invention is described in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the drawing, Fig. 1 is a vertical section of the burner along the line 1-1 in Fig.2 with the parts omitted therefrom; FIG. 2 is a horizontal section along the line 2-2 in FIG. 1 with parts broken away therefrom; Fig. 3 is an enlarged vertical section of the burner unit along the line 3-3 in Figure 5 with some parts attached;
Fig. 4 is a vertical section of the burner taken along line 4-4 in Fig. 5 with other parts attached; 5 is a horizontal section of the burner along line 5-5 in FIG. 3 with certain parts omitted. FIG. 6 is a horizontal section along line 6-6 in FIG.
The device is shown as it is suitable for the incineration of oily, floatable substances contained in water flowing through a sewage system. The device is shown in the form of a separator, in which the floating substances can rise to the surface of the water below a combustion chamber provided with a smoke outlet. The device is intended for the supply of air to support combustion at different altitudes, different pressures and different locations in order to effect a complete combustion of the combustibles accumulated on the surface of the water.
The separator is equipped with parts that move the surface of the water and the flammable substances on it, so that ash formation during combustion is prevented and the flammable substances are completely burned.
The device is preferably accommodated in a building 10 with an access door 11, a roof 12 and a pit 13 below the platform 14, the pit 13 preferably being arranged below the ground level 15. A preferably vertically arranged container 20 is built on the foundation 16 of the pit 13 and extends beyond the platform 14 inside the building 10. At its upper end, the container 20 has a conical area 21 to which a smoke outlet 22 connects upwards .
The container 20 is preferably made of metal and has at its bottom a frustoconical filling chamber 23 which is connected to an outlet line 24 which is interrupted by a separator 25 with an exchangeable sieve 26 built into it. As shown in FIG. 1, a liquid level measuring device can be built into the outlet line 24, which consists of an upwardly running overflow line 27, which opens into an overflow vessel 28 at a selected height.
A drainage line 29 leads down from the overflow vessel 28 into an emptying line 30. The overflow vessel is preferably arranged above the filling chamber 23 and below the cone 21 and is used to measure the liquid level in the container 20. One or more inlet lines 31, preferably arranged below the liquid level 31 open into the container 20. Below the liquid level 31 one or more bearing seats 35 are arranged in the container 20 accordingly. In the bearing seats 35, one or more shafts 36, for example two parallel shafts, are mounted on which stuffing glands 37 sit. A shaft stub 38 mounted in the bearings 35 is connected to the shaft 36.
A shaft 39, which is driven by the shaft 36, is connected to the inner ends of the shafts 36 and 38. A row of fingers 40 are arranged radially on each shaft 39 and, in the case of a plurality of shafts 39, are staggered with respect to one another. (Compare FIG. 5.) The length of the fingers 40 is dimensioned such that they protrude from the liquid by a small amount in the vertical direction above the shafts 39. The fingers 40 are preferably releasably attached to the shafts 39 and can be radially angularly offset from one another on one and the same shaft, although the fingers of a shaft can also be parallel to one another.
To drive the shafts 36 and 39 at low speed, a motor 41, a reduction gear 42, a drive chain and a gear drive 43 with a chain tensioning device 44 is provided.
In the container 20 just below the liquid level 31 corner plates 50 are attached, which carry an annular air chamber, which is formed by an iron angle 52 welded to the inside of the container and a ring plate 53 welded above it to the inside of the container.
The inner diameter of the ring plate 53 is greater than that of the ring-shaped angle profile iron 52, so that an annular passage gap is formed. A steel ring 55, also welded to the corner plates 50, is arranged at a small distance and concentrically to the angle profile iron 52. The ring 55, in which the upwardly directed fingers 40 protrude, is partly above and partly below the liquid level angeord. As described further below, the ring 55 serves as the lower tube portion of a combustion zone.
The container 20 is lined with refractory bricks 56 in its area 21 and at least in the lower area of the smoke outlet 22. A closable through the door 58 opening 57 in the upper part of the Behäl age, above the liquid level 31 allows access to the container to control the parts located above the liquid level. The lined container area 21 is preferably provided with an opening 59 for the installation of a temperature measuring device (not shown).
A primary air blower 65 is located near the container 20 and preferably within the building 10. A three-way valve 66 is installed in the delivery line of the blower 65, from which the lines 67 branch off and at a level below the valve and below the ring 55, partially around the container 20. A plurality of them on the circumference of the container 20 Distributed lines 68 lead from lines 67 to radially arranged nozzles 69, which slightly above the liquid level 31 lead radially through the annular air chamber 51 and through the inner ring 55 into the container 20.
Distribution lines 70 also lead from the lines 67 to nozzles 71, which lead into the container 20 a little above the nozzles 69 and the ring 55. The nozzles 71 are preferably arranged at an angle to the radius of the container and who are referred to here as tangential nozzles. A second pair of lines 72 lead from valve 66 above lines 67 partially around container 20. From each of the lines 72 one or more lines 73 lead upwards and open into nozzles 74, which never lead into the smoke outlet 22 above its base.
Lines 82 lead partially around container 20 from a second fan 80 provided with a throttle valve 81. A plurality of lines 83 lead from the lines 82 into the air chamber 51 of the container 20.
When the device is in operation, buoyant, flammable substances are fed to the container, in which they rise to the liquid surface 31 due to their lower specific weight and form a foam layer within the ring 55. In the case of wastewater, the buoyant or combustible substances carried along by the water are fed from the sewage line through the inlet line 32 to the container. A steady flow of water within the separator container leaves it through the outlet line 24.
The desired liquid level 31 in the container 20 is maintained by the upwardly leading overflow line 27 and the overflow container 28, regardless of the constant flow of material flowing through the container.
Insofar as the buoyant fuels usually only make up a small part of the liquids flowing through the separator, the accumulation of the fuels on the liquid level is relatively slow. This requires about 12 to 24 hours or more of operating time for a substantial amount of foam to accumulate on the container liquid. When this foam layer has built up, a certain amount of a highly flammable material, such as e.g. Poured oil on the surface of the foam layer in the container. About 11.2 liters of oil can be poured into containers in which the surface of the foam layer has a diameter of about 1.5 m.
This oil is then ignited, where by the temperature in the lined with the refractory bricks 56 upper areas of the combustion chamber increases. The oil can by hand through the opening 57 or by means of other devices not shown, e.g. a nozzle connected to an oil reservoir can be introduced under pressure. If the starting oil is ignited or shortly thereafter, the primary fan 65 u run. the secondary fan 80 on. The primary fan 65 conveys air at a pressure of preferably 0.21 kg / cm '.
The secondary fan conveys air to a much lower pressure, the preferential hydraulic in a range of about 63.5 to 172 mm. Pressure gauge reading is.
The high pressure air comes to the nozzles 69, which are arranged a little above the burning foam layer, 25 to 75 mm above the water surface 31, and supports the combustion close to the combustion zone in which the initial combustion takes place. Air comes through the tangential nozzles 71 into a higher zone and in different directions than the air flowing through the nozzles 69. In an effective arrangement, the nozzles 71 are approximately 100 mm higher than the nozzles 69 and are arranged at a distance from the latter and at an angle to the radius (cf. FIG. 6).
The air pushed through the nozzles 69 and 71 is the first air supply to support the combustion initiated by the ignition oil supplied at the beginning and the first air to support the combustion of the accumulated foam, which is ignited when the ignition oil has an ignition temperature in the device generated.
The second air supply to support the combustion in the upper area of the conical area 21 neigh barten and in the conical area, takes place from the low pressure fan 80 through the lines 82 and 83 in the annular air chamber 51, from which the air is drawn through the annular gap 54. The low-pressure air rises in the combustion chamber and is supplied in sufficient quantities to continue the combustion that has started on the foam surface.
It has been found that complete combustion cannot take place in the combustion chamber, so that soot and other combustible substances could be drawn off through the smoke outlet 22. The combustion of such fuels within the flue 22 can, however, be effected by the third air supply taking place through the lines 72. The supply of a third combustion air at one or more points at the base line height of the smoke outlet enables complete combustion and prevents smoke and soot from being extracted from the device.
Inasmuch as the foam can form a thick layer which can be covered by ash after it has partially ignited, and this ash tends to clog up and thereby prevent complete combustion, it is necessary to stir the foam to prevent it from caking. This is done by the rotating shafts 39 and the attached fingers 40 which break up and move the foam. Since this can only take place at low speeds of the shafts 39, the motor 41 with the reduction gear 42 is provided for this. Preferably, the shafts 39 will perform about 1 to 30 revolutions per minute.
The stirring process is carried out with a little splash of water, but on the other hand it is sufficiently intense to allow the combustion air to access all parts of the foam layer and thus to ensure the most complete possible combustion of the foam. Combustion can take place while the water is being passed through the separator and will normally continue until an accumulated foam layer is completely burned off.
Understandably, in the case of substances to be burned with a high proportion of floatable oily substances in the liquid flowing through the separator, the combustion will be continuous; However, such conditions are seldom encountered in sewage systems. To regulate the supply of primary air, secondary air and tertiary air, valves and throttle valves can be provided in the various conveying lines.
In this way, the supply air can be adapted according to the requirements of the material to be burned without the required ratio between the combustion chamber volume and the surface of the foam in the ring 55 being impaired. This ratio is important for the initial evaporation of the foam after its complete combustion from the surface of the water. The mechanical movement of the foam by means of the fingers 40 ensures that the foam is burned by breaking up the ashes sufficiently to prevent them from baking together and to promote the entry of the combustion air.
