Description
65. Les parois terminales 66, 67 sont munies d'ouvertures
rectangulaires 70 pouvant coopérer avec des dispositifs
71 de fermeture du couvercle. Comme visible sur les
fig.
La paroi in

The invention relates to a removable reusable shipping container of a type widely used for bulk freight shipments, which container has unusual strength in the upright position as well as low empty weight.
Devices of the above type are known in the art and the invention is based on specific details of construction which allow increased utility, low cost of manufacture, ease of assembly and a high degree of reuse.
The reusable bulk load shipping container object of the present invention is characterized in that it comprises a pallet element, a foldable wall element connected to said pallet element, and a cover element covering it and able to cooperate with said wall element, said pallet member comprising a floor, sole members attached to the lower surface thereof and a peripheral wall mounting member recessedly attached to the upper surface thereof, said wall member being formed of a panel of 'a single piece of flexible fibrous material, bounded by upper and lower edges and being permanently attached along a part of said lower edge to a part of said mounting member and connectable thereto along the others parts of said lower edge,
said cover element comprising an upper wall and peripheral side walls capable of engaging with said wall element in the upright condition and in the collapsed condition of the container at least partially containing said pallet and wall elements.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the invention:

The container 10 comprises roughly: a relatively rigid pallet member 11, a foldable wall member 12, flexibly attached thereto, and a cover member 13 connectable to the upright wall member 12.
The pallet member 11 is preferably constructed of wood, metal or other material having considerable mechanical strength, and has a pallet floor 17 bounded by an upper surface 18, a lower surface 19, side edges, one of the sides. between them being identified by the reference number 20 and terminal edges, one of them being identified by the reference number 21. Several sole elements 23, 24 and 25 are connected by support elements 22 arranged vertically, the sole members defining interstices under the floor 17 for the introduction of a forklift fork (not shown) or other lifting mechanism.
Mounted on the upper surface 18 of the floor 17, a peripheral mounting member 26 is set back from the edges 20-21. Element 26 is preferably made of wood and has two end parts 27 and 28 and side parts 29 and 30, parts 27-30 being glued or otherwise secured to the top surface 18. Each of the parts 27 -30 comprises, arranged laterally, several mounting holes 31 comprising a countersunk part 32. A support element 33, comprising a horizontal rim 34 and a vertical rim 35, is arranged under the lateral part 29.
The wall member 12 is formed of a continuous length of corrugated panels capable of supporting a high load and is bounded by a lower edge 40, an upper edge 41, and end edges 42 and 43. Folding edges 44, 45, 46 and 47 define a pair of front panels 48 and 49, a pair of side panels 50 and 51, and a rear panel 52. Along the
lower edge 40 there are several transverse holes 53 crossed by bolts and nuts 54 (fig. 3).
As will be understood by comparison of FIGS. 1 and 2, the portion of the lower edge 40 limiting the rear panel 52 is permanently attached to the mounting member 26, while the other portions of the edge 40 are joined together when the container is erected.
As clearly visible in fig. 2, 3 and 4, the edges 42 and 43 are provided with fastening elements 55 and 56 respectively, which can be made in the form of stamped metal parts, each having an outwardly facing groove 57, 58, cooperating with a corresponding edge and an inwardly facing groove 59,
60 allowing the engagement of a neck door element
smoothing 61 which, in its lowest position, engages
along the vertical rim 35 and rests on the su
lower of the horizontal rim 34.
The cover element 13 is also formed of maté
fibrous rials and has an upper wall element
63, side walls 64 and 65, as well as walls
terminals 66 and 67 with overlapping legs 68
attached by means of clips 69 to the side walls 64,
65. The end walls 66, 67 are provided with openings
rectangular 70 able to cooperate with devices
71 for closing the cover. As visible on the
fig. 5 and 6, the device 71 comprises an element in
loop form 72 mounted on a side panel 50, 51
and an element 73 engaging in the loop.
Element
loop-shaped 72 may be made as a
stamped metal part, to include a wall in
outer 74, an upper edge 75 and an outer wall
76, part of which is curved to form a por
loop 77 facing outward. The wall in
74 and the outer wall 76 are provided with pi
sharpened cots 78 formed by cutting and bending from
of the plane thereof, pins which are suitable to penetrate
in the interior and exterior surfaces of the element
wall 12 in order to achieve a solid grip thereon,
as clearly visible in fig. 6.
The element 73 engaging in the buckle comprises
a relatively rigid elongated bar 83 which can be
smooth inside loop part 77 and an element
flexible 84, welded to the bar 83 along a central part 85 and comprising folded parts 86, 87 which can be engaged in a yoke 88 to avoid unintentional withdrawal.
The assembly of the container 10 from the state shown in FIG. 1 is produced by removing the elements 11 and 12 from the recess 90 formed by the element 13 and by unfolding the element 12 to put it in a vertical position as visible in FIG. 2. At this point, the side panels 50, 51 and the front panels 48, 49 are attached by nuts and bolts 54 as shown in fig. 9, and the fastening elements 55 and 56 arranged as seen in FIG. 2. As a result, the sliding door member 61 can be mounted and, if desired, left in the raised position during the period of loading the container.
As it is envisaged that the dimensions of the container are considerable,
The opening formed by the edges 42 and 43 provides a possibility of entry and exit for the workers during the loading of the container.
At the end of loading, the cover element 13 can then be fixed in the manner shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, or, if desired, the loop-engaging element 73 may be replaced by other suitable loop-engaging devices, such as padlocks and the like. The container then takes on the appearance shown in FIG. 4.
After loading, several containers 10 can be stacked in a conventional manner, the engagement of the device 71 for closing the lid forcing the panels 50, 51 to remain in an upright upright position, in which all the forces exerted on them and the front panels 48, 49 and the rear panel 52 will be directly in compression, forces to which the fibrous material of which the wall element 12 is formed, is able to resist well.
The container is unloaded and dismantled by following the reverse order to the procedure described above, to bring it back to the state shown in fig. 1.
