Device for processing flowable products
The invention relates to a device for processing flowable products by mixing, fine grinding, emulsifying, wetting and degassing under vacuum.
Emulsification here means the colloidal distribution of oil or oil-containing components of the products to be processed in water or water in oil.
Wetting means the moistening of small solid particles in a liquid substance, e.g. Color pigments in oil or water. It is important that the agglomerates, i.e. Aggregates and small solid particles are crushed and simultaneously wetted with the liquid phase.
The object of the invention is to design a processing device of this type in such a way that the material to be treated can be vented almost completely and intensively worked through in the shortest possible operating time with the least possible manufacturing and technical effort.
In the case of a device of the aforementioned type, this takes place in that a fine mill, a slow-running mixing device and a device for spreading the product to be treated into a thin film are housed in a common closed vacuum container.
In principle, you only need a single treatment vessel, which holds all the necessary treatment organs, thus enables versatile and simultaneous treatment of a batch and can be cleaned quickly and easily. The device for spreading the product to be treated into a thin film is of particular importance, since in this way the bubbles still present in the product are torn open and the material can be degassed better than before.
Further details of the invention are explained in the description of a preferred exemplary embodiment of the invention with reference to the drawing.
This shows a view of a device for processing flowable products with the container lid raised.
A double-walled container 1 is held pivotably about a horizontal axis between a device housing 3 and a bearing stand 4, both of which are mounted on a common base plate 5, by means of bearing journals 2. With a swivel drive is referred to, which worried the pivoting of the container. The container can also be moved separately on rollers and can therefore be exchanged and cleaned quickly and easily.
The double-walled container can accommodate a heating or cooling medium that is heated or cooled by directly built-in elements or is connected in a manner not shown to a heating and cooling device arranged outside the container.
The bottom of the container is slightly curved downwards and has an outlet connection 7 with shut-off valve 8 in the area of its lowest point. Furthermore, a U-shaped addition line 9 with shut-off valve 10 and addition funnel 11 is also connected in the area of the lowest point of the container. The additional component filled into this funnel, be it in liquid or powder form, is sucked into the container by the vacuum, i.e. the additional component is immediately mixed with the product that has accumulated in the lower part of the container. In this way e.g. prevents the build-up of dust in the container, and easily evaporable aromas cannot be extracted through the vacuum connection. The additional component is therefore added with practically no loss.
A container cover 12 is firmly connected to a hydraulic cylinder unit 14 via a cross member 13 and can thereby be raised and lowered by a motor.
A drive motor 15 is attached to the cover eccentrically to the container axis by e = 10-20% of the container diameter, the shaft 16 of which protrudes down through the cover. The eccentric arrangement of the shaft 16 to the container axis prevents vortex formation and increases the degree of mixing.
On a box girder 17 protruding beyond the cylinder unit 14 sits a further drive motor 18a which, by means of a chain drive (not shown) in the box girder 17, drives a hollow shaft 18 arranged centrally to the container axis, from which two bow-shaped mixing and stripping arms 19 protrude diametrically below the lid Shape is largely adapted to the inner profile of the closed container. Plastic scraper elements 20 are attached to these mixing arms, the arrangement of which on the two arms complement each other, and which are moved close to the inner surface of the container and can be inclined to the direction of movement so that the treated material is deflected in many ways and thus kneaded and mixed . More than two arms 19 can of course be provided.
The speed of the hollow shaft 18 is lower (about 1050 rpm than that of the shaft 16 (about 1500-3000 rpm); the direction of rotation is opposite. Both speeds must be matched to the properties of the material being treated Both motors 15 and 18 can also be equipped with controllable drives. Of course, these different speeds can also be derived from a common drive motor via separate speed change or transmission gears.
Below the hollow shaft 18, a hollow shaft 30 and a downwardly open distributor hood 21 are seated on the shaft 16. Below this distributor hood, a centrifugal plate 22 is attached to the hollow shaft 20, which is surrounded at the edge by a cylindrical screen 23.
Between the parts 21 and 22, evenly distributed longitudinal slots 24 are provided in the wall of the hollow shaft 30, which preferably run obliquely or counter to the direction of rotation of the shaft 30 in a spiral to the outside.
A housing 25 of a toothed colloid mill or another suitable fine mill with feed openings 26 and mill stator 27 is firmly attached to the container bottom. The rotor 28 of the colloid mill sits firmly on the lower end of the hollow shaft 30, which carries a flange body 29 at a distance from the rotor, which in the closed position of the lid engages over the edge of the annular pump housing 25 and forms a gap seal with it, for example through a labyrinth. Between the parts 28 and 29, feed slots 31 for the material emerging from the mill are provided in the hollow shaft 30. The flange body 29 not only fulfills the function of a rotating housing cover for the mill housing, but also acts as a premixing element and for this purpose can be provided with suitable wing elements or the like.
In principle, the whole mill can also be suspended from the hollow shaft 30. You then only have to ensure that the mill housing in the closed position of the lid is coupled to the container base by a Hirth serration or the like.
A premixing element 33 is firmly attached to the hollow shaft 30. Before putting the device into operation, the valves 8 and 10 are first closed. The components normally required for production are then poured into the container and, by actuating the cylinder unit 14, the cover is lowered until its edge rests sealingly on the container edge, with the rotor 28 properly engaging in the stator 27 and the housing 25 opposite Flange 29 is sealed. Then the motor 18 is first switched on, and the individual components are worked through by the mixing arms 19 for a predetermined time until the motor 15 and then the vacuum system (not shown) can be switched on, which puts the container under vacuum via the hose 32.
The treated material is continuously sucked into the colloid mill at the bottom of the container through the openings 26, passed through the slots 31, through the hollow shaft 30 and the slots 24 below the distributor bell 21 onto the centrifugal plate 22 and distributed there to form a thin film thrown against the sieve 23 so that all the bubbles are torn open and the air or gas parts that have become free can be sucked off.
Additional components can be filled into the funnel 11 and only brought into the container by briefly opening the valve 10. The material is constantly circulated through the fine mill, the degassing device and the mixing device until it has the desired properties. The whole process, in particular the addition after the sample analysis, can be programmed in principle, with all control and operating processes from entering to switching off or even draining being controlled automatically.
As an example of the preparation of a flowable product with the device described, the following is the production. explained by shaving cream.
This takes place in two steps: 1. Saponification; 2.
Perfuming and coloring. The following components are used: 15.0% H20 74.0% fat 5.0 NaOH 2.0 perfume 2.0% color 1.2% gloss agent 0.6 emulsifier 0.2% pharmaceutical active ingredient
1. With the lid open, add 90% of the water content at a temperature of 800C, 100% of the NaOH content and 100% of the fat content at a temperature of 800C, and 100% of the emulsifier in the container.
Then you close the container and place it under a vacuum of about 400 Torr. At a reaction temperature of around 850C, the batch is saponified in 60 minutes. The scraper arms 19 and the premixing element 33 work in the first 30 minutes, and the toothed colloid mill also works during the last 30 minutes. The vacuum pump only has to work until the highest possible adjustable vacuum is reached, so that the foam head only rises to just below the distributor plate. The vacuum pump can then be switched off as the existing vacuum in the container remains constant.
2. After completion of the saponification process, the cooling is switched on. After about 30 minutes, the batch is cooled down to about 400C, depending on the cooling option. When this temperature is reached, the remaining components, such as e.g. 100% of the perfume, 100% of the dye, 100% of the shine, etc. 100% of the active ingredient added.
The remaining 10% of the water content is used to rinse the suction funnel and slowly added to the product. After all the components have been added, the vacuum is increased to around 100 Torr and the stripping arms, premixer and toothed colloid mill are used for 15-20 minutes, the vacuum pump being switched off. This achieves final homogenization and complete deaeration of the batch.
The entire process time for the production of shaving cream with saponification process with the addition of heated water and fat is around 110 minutes.
It is advisable to only work with the stripping system during the cooling process in order to circulate the product, but the colloid mill and premixing system should remain switched off, as these cause the product to heat up to a certain extent as the viscosity increases, and thus only unnecessarily prolong the cooling process.
It is advisable to leave the cooling system in operation until filling in order to eliminate the heat that occurs during final homogenization through the colloid mill and the premixing system. A final temperature of around 300C is reached so that the product can be filled immediately.
