Support device for floating membranes in large containers and process for their production
The present invention relates to a support device for floating membranes in large containers and a method for their production.
In the case of large containers for highly volatile liquids, the liquid level can be covered with a floating membrane, which, as the name suggests, floats on the liquid and rises or falls with it, in order to largely avoid evaporation losses. Such floating membranes are known and are built for two different types of container.
In the case of containers without a fixed roof, the floating membrane is designed as a so-called floating roof, which is also able to carry snow loads.
These floating roofs are now mostly designed as ring pontoon roofs into which the supports are built. The built-in elements for these supports and the local reinforcement of the membrane in the area of these supports are relatively expensive constructions. As a result of the point-wise support of the membrane, large membrane pulls arise, which are absorbed by the strong ring pontoon.
In the case of tanks with a fixed domed roof, only a simple floating membrane without a ring pontoon is installed. The membrane only has an edge frame to which the seal is attached. The installation of supports in the membrane would require the same structural elements as with conventional floating roofs. In addition, because of the point-wise support, the edge frame would have to be made very strong to accommodate the membrane pulls.
The aim of the present invention is to avoid these elements, which make the construction more expensive, and at the same time to enable easier assembly. The support device according to the invention for floating membranes in large containers is characterized by supporting elements for supporting the membrane and by supports connected to these supporting elements via rigid joints.
The method for producing the support device is characterized in that the supporting elements are articulated with the supports and then a floating membrane is assembled on the supporting elements as the main frame and connected to these elements and then the whole system, consisting of membrane, supporting elements and the supports are raised at least until the supports are fully unfolded, and the whole system is supported on the supports and that the floating membrane is then separated from the support elements so that it floats on the surface of the large container after the volatilizable liquid has been filled.
The invention is then explained, for example, with reference to figures. It shows:
1 shows the interior view of a large container with a partially cut-away jacket, fully assembled support, partially in section, and with a floating membrane shown schematically in the operating position, in a perspective view.
2 shows a side view of an upper part of a support ring with a joint support, in a cutout.
In Fig. 1, a large container 1 with a bottom 3, a jacket 5 and a roof 7 is shown. Inside the container 1, two support rings 13 and 15 with cut-away parts can be seen, which are supported on supports 19 and 20, as well as brackets 17 attached to the jacket 5 at approximately the same height. A floating membrane 22 with an edge seal 10 floats on the liquid level An opening 9 with a fan II, which is necessary for the assembly-lifting process, is entered in dash-dotted lines on the floating membrane.
In FIG. 2 it can be seen how the support ring 13 is connected by welding to a bracket 26, while the support 19 is pivotably attached to the bracket 26 via a welded tab 24 with a screw 28.
The assembly of the floating membrane with support device is carried out as follows:
After the assembly of the large container 1, the support ring 13 is laid on its bottom 3. This ensures a practically continuous support of the membrane and not a point by point. Lying in the radial direction on the container bottom 3, the supports 19 are laid out and then connected to the brackets 26 of the support ring 13 by the screws 28.
Then the support ring 15 is mounted with the supports 20 in the same way. Depending on the diameter of the container 1, further such support rings are necessary. The floating membrane 22 is then mounted over these support rings 13 and 15, these serving as the main frame. Additional ancillary framework parts (not shown) can be provided. The floating membrane 22 is attached to the support rings 13 and 15 at the appropriate support points, so that the floating membrane 22 with the supporting rings 13 and 15 and the supports 19 and 20 represents a coherent structure. The fan 11 is now put into operation and the space between the floor 3 and the floating membrane 22 is placed under excess pressure.
If there is sufficient overpressure, the floating membrane 22 together with the support rings 13 and 15 will rise, with the supports 19 and 20 pivoting around the screws 28, so that after the system has been raised sufficiently, the supports 19 and 20 will be perpendicular to the support rings 13 and 15 hang.
Pulling devices are mounted on the container jacket 5, with which the edge of the floating membrane 22 is simultaneously raised while it is being pushed up, in order to compensate for differences in friction between the seal 10. The whole system, consisting of floating membrane 22, support rings 13 and 15 and supports 19 and 20, is lowered after the supports 19 and 20 are in the vertical position until they stand on the floor 3. The edge of the floating membrane 22 is secured in the height position by the pulling devices on the jacket 5. The brackets 17 are then welded to the jacket 5 and the pulling devices are removed. The floating membrane 22 now rests at the edge on the consoles 17 and in the inner part on the support rings 13 and 15 with the supports 19 and 20. Since the joints of these supports are radially oriented, this structure is stable.
For safety reasons, however, it is advantageous to weld the supports 19 and 20 to the base 3, as well as the tabs 24 to the brackets 26, whereby the screws 28 can either be left or removed.
This stiffens the joints. The floating membrane 22 can then be separated from the support rings 13 and 15 again. The fan 11 is removed and the opening 9 closed. When the liquid is now pumped into the container 1 and the level has reached the height of the support rings 13 and 15 and the consoles 17 and continues to rise, it lifts the floating membrane 22 from the rings 13 and 15 and the consoles 17. The membrane 22 now moves up and down in accordance with the liquid level in the container 1 and comes to rest on the support rings 13 and 15 and the brackets 17 in its lowest position.
The lifting of the membrane 22 can also be carried out instead of by blowing in air or another gas by pumping in liquid, e.g. B. water.
The continuous support of the membrane 22 on the support rings 13 and 15 enables the membrane
22 without reinforcing support points.
Furthermore, a large spacing between the support rings 13 and 15 is possible and the edge frame of the membrane 22 does not need to be reinforced. The continuous support rings 13 and 15 allow assembly of the membrane 22 without a special framework. The articulated connection of the supports 19 and 20 to the support rings
13 and 15 enables the membrane 22 to be blown up without the arrangement of piercing sleeves for the supports and without their attachment to the membrane.
It is possible instead of the support rings 13 and 15 a grate of z. B. to use straight beams and to provide them with appropriate supports. Furthermore, only parts of such structures can be used instead of whole, self-contained support rings.
