B. p-Phenylendiamin, Bis-(p-aminophenyl)-methan, Äthylendiamin, N,N-Di- äthyläthylendiamin, Diäthylentriamin, Tetra-(oxyäthyl)- diäthylentriamin, Triäthylentetramin, N,N-Dimethyl- propylendiamin, Mannich-Basen, wie Tris-(dimethyl- aminomethyl)-phenol; Dicyandiamid, Harnstoff-For maldehydharze, Melamin-Formaldehydharze, Polyami de, z.
B. Phthalsäurean- hydrid, Tetrahydrophthalsäureanhydrid, Hexahydro- phthalsäureanhydrid, Methylhexahydrophthalsäurean- hydrid, Endomethylen-tetrahydrophthalsäureanhydrid, Methyl - endomethylen - tetrahydrophthalsäureanhydrid (= Methylnadicanhydrid), Hexachlor-endomethylen- tetrahydrophthalsäureanhydrid, Bernsteinsäureanhydrid, Adipinsäureanhydrid, Maleinsäureanhydrid, Allylbern- steinsäureanhydrid,

It was found that the presence of such by-products generally has a favorable effect on the technical properties of the hardened diepoxides. It is therefore generally advisable not to isolate the pure diepoxides from the reaction mixture.
The polyepoxides produced according to the invention are generally viscous or low-melting resins with excellent temperature resistance at room temperature. They are therefore suitable as heat stabilizers for transformer oils, hydraulic oils and for synthetic resins, especially polyvinyl chloride. In the case of synthetic resins, they can also act as plasticizers.
The polyepoxides prepared according to the invention also react with the usual hardeners for epoxy compounds. By adding such hardeners, they can therefore be crosslinked or cured in the same way as other polyfunctional epoxy compounds or epoxy resins. Basic or, in particular, acidic compounds are suitable as such hardeners.
Have proven to be suitable: Amines or amides, such as aliphatic and aromatic primary, secondary and tertiary amines, z. B. p-phenylenediamine, bis- (p-aminophenyl) methane, ethylenediamine, N, N-diethylethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, tetra- (oxyethyl) diethylenetriamine, triethylenetetramine, N, N-dimethylpropylenediamine, Mannich bases, such as tris (dimethyl aminomethyl) phenol; Dicyandiamide, urea-formaldehyde resins, melamine-formaldehyde resins, Polyami de, z.

B. resorcinol, bis (4-oxyphenyl) dimethyl methane, phenol-formaldehyde resins, reaction products of aluminum alcoholates or phenolates with tautomeric compounds of the acetoacetic ester type, Friedel-Crafts catalysts, eg. B. AlCl3, SbCl5, SnCl4, ZnCl2, BF3 and their complexes with or ganic compounds such. B. BF3 amine complexes, metal fluoroborates such as zinc fluoroborate; Phosphoric acid; Boroxines such as trimethoxyboroxine.
Preference is given to using polybasic carboxylic acids and their anhydrides as hardeners, e.g. B. phthalic anhydride, tetrahydrophthalic anhydride, hexahydro- phthalic anhydride, methylhexahydrophthalic anhydride, endomethylene-tetrahydrophthalic anhydride, methyl-endomethylene-tetrahydrophthalic anhydride, methyl anhydride, maleic anhydride, maleic anhydride anhydride, aldehyde anhydride, adipaic anhydride, tetrahydric anhydride, tetrahydroic anhydride, tetrahydric anhydride, hexachloro-endomethyl anhydride, tetrahydric anhydride, methylhexahydrophthalic anhydride,
Dodecenyl succinic anhydride; 7-Allyl-bicyclo- (2.2.1) -hept-5-en-2,3-dicarboxylic acid anhydride, pyromellitic acid dianhydride or mixtures of such anhydrides. Hardening agents which are liquid at room temperature are preferably used.
You can optionally accelerators such as tertiary amines, their salts or quaternary ammonium compounds, z. B. tris (dimethylaminomethyl) phenol, benzyldimethylamine or benzyldimethylammonium phenate, tin (II) salts of carboxylic acids such as tin (II) octoate or alkali metal alcoholates, such as. B. sodium hexylate, also use.
When curing the polyepoxides prepared according to the invention with anhydrides, it is expedient to use 0.5 to 1.1 gram equivalents of anhydride groups for 1 gram equivalent of epoxide groups.
The curing can also be carried out in two stages, for example in the case of N-glycidyl-4,5-epoxy-hexahydrophthalimide in the first stage the reactive glycidyl group, e.g. B. with a polyamine, is crosslinked at room temperature, and in a second stage the less reactive epoxy group in the cyclohexene ring, z. B. with a polycarboxylic anhydride, is crosslinked in the heat.
The term hardening, as used here, means the conversion of the above diepoxides into insoluble and infusible, crosslinked products, usually with simultaneous shaping into molded bodies, such as cast bodies, pressed bodies or laminates, or flat structures such as paint films or adhesions.
If desired, the polyepoxides prepared according to the invention can be used to reduce the viscosity active diluents, such as. B. butylglicid, cresylglycid or 3-vinyl-2,4-dioxaspiro (5.5) -9,10-epoxy-undecane add.
The polyepoxides produced according to the invention can also be added to other curable di- or poly-epoxy compounds as upgraders to improve the heat resistance. As such, B. named: Polyglicidyl ethers of polyhydric alcohols or in particular of polyhydric phenols such as resorcinol, bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) dimethylmetane (= bisphenol A) or condensation products of formaldehyde with phenols (novolaks); Polyglycidyl esters of polycarboxylic acids, such as. B.
Phthalic acid; Aminopolyepoxides, such as those obtained by dehydrohalogenation of the reaction products from epihalohydrin and primary or secondary amines, such as aniline or 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl methane, and alicyclic compounds containing several epoxy groups, such as vinylcyclohexenedioxide, dicyclopentadiene epoxy, 3,4 - epoxytetrahydrodicyclopentadien - 8 - yl) - ether, 3,4-epoxytetrahydrodicyclopentadienyl-8-glycidyl ether, (3 ', 4' -epoxy-cyclohexylmethyl) - 3,4 -epoxycyclohexane carboxylate, (3 ',
4'-epoxy-6'-methylcyclohexylmethyl) - 3,4-epoxy-6-methyl-cyclohexanecarboxylate, bis (cyclopentyl) ether diapoxide or 3- (3 ', 4'-epoxy-cyclohexyl) - 2,4-dioxospiro (5,5) -9,10-epoxy-undecane.
The present invention therefore also relates to durable, curable mixtures which contain the diepoxides prepared according to the invention, optionally together with other di- or polyepoxy compounds, and furthermore curing agents for epoxy resins, such as, preferably, di- or polycarboxylic anhydrides.
The polyepoxy compounds produced according to the invention or their mixtures with other polyepoxy compounds and / or hardeners can also be mixed with fillers, plasticizers, pigments, dyes, hammocking substances, mold release agents in any phase prior to hardening.
As extenders and fillers, asphalt, bitumen, glass fibers, cellulose, mica, quartz powder, aluminum oxide hydrate, gypsum, kaolin, ground dolomite, colloidal silicon dioxide with a large specific surface (AROSIL) or metal powder such as aluminum powder can be used.
The curable mixtures can be used in the unfilled or filled state, optionally in the form of solutions of the emulsions, as textile auxiliaries, coating compositions, laminating resins, paints, varnishes, dipping resins, casting resins, molding compounds, coating compounds and fillers, flooring compounds, embedding and insulation compounds for electrical engineering , Adhesives as well as for the manufacture of such products. They are used particularly advantageously wherever high heat resistance of the hardened products is required.

After two recrystallization from ethanol, mp 133 to 134. b) Preparation of 1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalimide sodium 184 g (8 mol) of sodium are dissolved in 2500 ml of absolute ethanol and then 1208 g (8 mol) of 1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalamide are added in portions. The imide goes into solution; at the same time, however, the sodium compound already precipitates. To complete the reaction, the mixture is stirred for 1 hour with exclusion of moisture at 60, then allowed to cool and the precipitated product is filtered off. The product is washed with absolute alcohol and then dried for 15 hours at 50/13 Torr.
A yield of 1282 g (corresponding to 92.6% of theory) of a colorless sodium compound is obtained.
The purity of the product is determined by hydrolysis and titration of the sodium hydroxide formed; the product is 99.4% pure.
c) Preparation of N-glycidyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalimide 692 g (4 mol) 1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalimide sodium are suspended in 1480 g (16 mol) epichlorohydrin and Heated under reflux for 16 hours. The reaction mixture is then filtered and the filtrate is concentrated, whereupon partial crystallization occurs.
666 g of crude product are obtained (corresponding to 80.5% of theory). The product has an epoxy equivalent of 241.5 (theoretical value = 207), corresponding to 4.15 epoxy equivalents / kg.
By recrystallization from methanol, a crystalline portion of 332 g can be obtained, the epoxy equivalent of which is 239.
d) Preparation of N-glycidyl-4,5-epoxy-hexa-hydrophthalimide 262 g (1.28 mol) of N-glycidyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalimide are dissolved in 1300 ml of benzene and 22.4 g g sodium bicarbonate added. If a temperature range of 28 to 30 is strictly adhered to, 186 g of 55% strength aqueous peracetic acid (1.28 mol -I- 5% excess) are added dropwise over 2 hours, if necessary with slight cooling.
After the addition has ended, stirring is continued for 1 hour without cooling. Complete dissolution occurs with an exothermic reaction.
The reaction mixture is then concentrated and finally kept at 180 and 0.1 torr for 2 hours. The melt obtained is poured onto metal sheets, allowed to solidify and ground. The yield is 1213 g (corresponding to 99% of theory); M.p. 71 to 76.
b) Preparation of N- (3 ', 4' epoxy-hexahydrobenzyl) - 4,5-epoxy-hexahydrophthalimide In 250 ml of benzene, 122.5 g (0.5 mol) of N- (1 ', 2', 5 ' , 6 '-Tetrahydrobenzyl) -1, 2, 3, 6 - tetrahydrophthalic acid imide dissolved and 16.8 g of sodium bicarbonate is added. 139 g of 60% strength aqueous peracetic acid are added dropwise to this reaction mixture, so that, starting at room temperature, the reaction mixture is heated to 40 as a result of the exothermic reaction. The addition takes 1 hour with slight intermittent cooling.
Then the cooling is removed and left to react for 3 hours, the temperature falling back to room temperature.
After working up, 96 g of a viscous resin-like substance with a content of 6.1 epoxy equivalents / kg are obtained. Example 3 a) N-oleyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalimide 267 g (1 mol) oleylamine are dissolved in 300 ml of dioxane and carefully 152 g (1 mol) 1,2,3 , 6-tetrahydrophthalic anhydride added. Due to the exothermic reaction, complete dissolution of the anhydride occurs quickly. The reaction mixture is colored darker with increasing reaction time.
After the addition is complete, the mixture is concentrated under a water jet vacuum initially at 50, later increasing to 150 and heated until no more gas bubbles escape, which is the case after about 2 to 3 hours. The product is obtained as a viscous oil in quantitative yield, from which a pale yellow product is obtained after distillation at 190 to 200 / 0.03 Torr.
