Fig. 1 zeigt eine erfindungsgemässe Vorrichtung in Seitenansicht.
Device for winding up web-shaped material, in particular wire mesh webs
Web-shaped material, such as wire mesh webs made of crossing wires, which are connected to one another at the crossing points by welding or gluing, are usually wound into rolls to save space during storage and transport.
The winding takes place on automatic winding machines, which roll up the web-shaped material emerging from the production system, mostly a mesh welding machine. As soon as a certain length of the material web, which can be set on the machine, has been wound up, the winding mechanism switches off automatically. For this purpose, a counting mechanism is coupled to the winding mechanism, which z. B. when winding up grid webs, the cross wires are counted and after a preselected number of cross wires corresponding to the desired web length, the disconnection device is actuated.
Before the winding device can be cleared to receive new material after a roll has been completed, the finished roll must be separated from the web of material running out of the production system, the remaining end of this web must be placed around the roll and the entire roll tied off in order to open the To prevent role according to the inherent spring force of the material web or its own weight.
Known winding mechanisms are provided with pressure rollers which, during the winding process, press the material web against a winding mandrel that hides the core of the roll, in order to be able to wind the largest possible volume of material as tightly as possible.
At the same time, after cutting through the material web, these rollers hold the material firmly in the wound state against its own spring force until the setting of the roll, which is usually done by hand, has ended.
Instead of simple pressure rollers, pressure devices have also been proposed in winding mechanisms for grid webs, the main component of which is a link chain provided with grippers. These pressing members are pressed against the grid wound on the winding mandrel in such a way that the roll is not only touched along a generatrix, but along a predetermined part of its circumference. The link chain grasps the cross wires of the rolled up grid with its grippers and exerts a tensile force on them when the link chain is braked by a braking device. This ensures that the grid roll is not only pressed together, but also pulled together tightly by the tensile force. With these devices, too, the wound roll is tied by hand.
The setting process now takes a relatively long time. Since the wound up material web is still on the winding mandrel during this time, either the production system must be switched off for binding or, if the production system continues to work continuously, the material web generated during the binding of the finished rolls must be stored in a buffer until the winding mandrel is free to accept new material. The winding device has to work significantly faster than the production system in order to free up the intermediate storage device for receiving new material. In this way, the production speed can be increased, although a greater machine effort and a greater space requirement for the intermediate storage must be accepted.
In order to reduce the time required for setting and to be able to use the production plant optimally, it has also been suggested to mechanize the setting process itself. According to an older proposal in this regard, a circular guide rail is connected to the winding device, into which the roll of material is pushed step by step, still at least along part of its circumference under the pressure of a pressure roller, at first one end. As soon as the end of the roll is inside the circular guide rail, the roll stops and a metal band is inserted into the guide. The metal band slides in the guide rail around the roller, is then tensioned by machine along the circumference of the roller and connected at its ends, e.g. B. welded.
The roll is then pushed a little deeper into the circular guide rail and the automatic binding process is repeated. After several such work steps, the roll is completely tied and is completely pushed off the winding mandrel.
With this automatic binding, the roll is moved in the longitudinal direction of the winding mandrel, which, together with the pressure roller parallel to it, guides the roll during the binding process. The end of the roll that has not yet tied is kept closed by the pressure roller against premature opening under the spring force of the material web. Since the setting process takes place gradually, in this case too the winding mandrel is only released after the last metal strip has been closed to accommodate new material.
In the previously known winding devices, the new material web is introduced either by hand or with the aid of feed mechanisms provided specifically for this purpose.
The invention is now concerned with the object of creating a device for winding up web-shaped material, in particular wire mesh webs, in which continuous operation of the production plant can be maintained while the respective finished roll is being set, without the need for space-consuming intermediate stores.
The winding device according to the invention, which has a winding mandrel in a known manner, from which the produced roll of material can be removed after the relative axial movement of mandrel and roll, is characterized in that a position between a first, close to the winding mandrel and a second, from the winding mandrel remote position reciprocating gripper mechanism is provided, which has at least two grippers pivotable from opposite sides against the outer surface of a roll located on the winding mandrel, which grippers can be pressed against the roll and are held in the pressed position during the movement of the gripper mechanism from the first to the second position so that they prevent the roll from rolling or loosening.
When using this device, the roll of material wound tightly on the winding mandrel, as soon as the desired winding length has been reached, is captured by the gripper mechanism on its surface and secured against unwanted unrolling, then the roll is separated from the incoming web of material and finally released from the mandrel. This release of the roll from the mandrel can, if the mandrel is cantilevered at one end in a fixed main bearing, can be done by axially pulling it off the mandrel by moving the gripper mechanism parallel to the mandrel axis.
The mandrel can also consist of two opposing mandrel stubs which only protrude into the end parts of the finished wound roll and can be moved apart to release this roll, the movement path of the gripper mechanism then running in a direction perpendicular to the mandrel axis.
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the drawing using an exemplary embodiment. Fig. 1 shows a device according to the invention in side view. Fig. 2 shows the same device in plan view, FIGS. 3 and 4 show embodiments for different gripper mechanisms that secure the rolled-up grid web against premature opening.
The lattice web 1 emerging from a manufacturing machine, such as a lattice welding machine, is guided under the winding device according to FIG. 1 in such a way that it reverses its direction of movement behind it, forming a loop.
This measure ensures that the operating speeds of the production system and the winding device do not have to be directly related. Two switches 18 and 18a, only indicated schematically, control the size of the loop. As soon as this has become large enough to touch the switch 18a, the winding device is set in motion and this then works until the now decreasing loop touches the switch 18, which switches off the winding machine.
On its way to the winding machine, the grating first passes a guide roller 2 and then feed and braking elements 3, which in the example shown, as can be seen from FIG. 2, consist of several wheels rigidly attached to a common axis with gripping teeth distributed around the circumference. Instead of these wheels, other suitable organs, which must be able not only to brake the grid but also to transport it, if necessary, could also be used. For example, link chains with U-shaped grippers and guide rails, which prevent the grid cross wires from jumping out of the recesses of the grippers, could also be provided. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the transverse wires enter the depressions between the gripping teeth at the edge circumferences and are thus in frictional engagement with the braking elements 3.
The roller 2 prevents the cross wires from jumping out of the recesses on the wheel circumference. As already mentioned, the wheels sit on a common axle, at one end of which, for example, an oil motor is arranged that can be used either to drive or to brake this axle.
The grid web is now guided to the winding mandrel 6 between the two cutting edges 4, 4a of a guillotine shears, over a guide roller 5 and between guide rails 17, 17a, which are shown in the open position in FIG.
At the start of a winding process, the guide rails 17, 17a are closed; they can be adjusted so that the free end of the grid is inserted through them into one of the holding slots 7, 7 a of the winding mandrel 6. Two holding slots are provided on the winding mandrel 6 in order to be able to wind up the wire mesh as desired so that the transverse wires come to lie outside or inside. As soon as the guide rails 17, 17a have been brought into the desired position, the oil motor begins to drive the shaft on which the feed and braking elements 3 are seated, whereby the grid is inserted between the guide rails 17, 17a into the desired holding slot of the winding mandrel.
In the holding slots 7, 7a known gripping devices are arranged that grasp the first cross wire of the inserted grid and hold it inside this slot so that the grid can only be pushed out of the holding slots 7, 7a parallel to the axis of the winding mandrel 6.
As soon as the first transverse wire has been fixed in this position, the oil motor of the feed and brake elements 3 stops working, the guide rails 17, 17a return to the position shown in FIG. 1 and a separate motor, not shown in the drawings, starts the winding mandrel 6 in rotation.
In Fig. 1, the direction of rotation is assumed to be counterclockwise.
In order to wind up the material as tightly as possible, the motor for the supply and braking elements 3 now acts as an oil pump against a controllable resistance.
Since the circumference of the lattice track must be kept free on the one hand because of the free mobility of the feed rails 17, 17a on the other hand because of the gripping elements 10, 11 and 11a to be described, the tight winding of the material is not expediently done by pressing elements of a known type, but by braking the grating track that can be done at a distance from the role causes. The described embodiment of the feeding and braking elements has the advantage that special devices for feeding the grid, such as feed or feed hooks and their drive, are superfluous.
As soon as the desired lattice length is wound onto the roll, which is done by a known counting device for the transverse wires, the winding mandrel 6 stops and the grippers 10, 11, 11a close, actuated by hydraulic cylinders 9 and 9a, around the wound roll. It is now possible for the guillotine shears 4, 4a to cut through the lattice web 1 without the lattice roll under the pressure of the gripper jaws being able to open.
In the embodiment of the grippers shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, the uppermost gripper arms 10 carry a rocker 12, on the ends of which rods or tubes 13, 13a are attached which are opposite to one another with respect to the pivot axis of the rocker and which preferably essentially overlap extend the total width of the roll and run between the rockers of the two gripper arms. The wound-up roll of mesh is now turned against the frictional engagement of the grippers to such an extent that the free end of the mesh web comes to lie between the rods or tubes 13 and 13a. These rods or tubes press the mesh roll together.
Now a counter-holder 15, which served one end of the winding mandrel 6 as an auxiliary carrier during the winding process, swivels downwards, and the rolled up grating is pushed off the winding mandrel by an ejector plate 16 provided with a suitable drive together with the gripper mechanism, which is slidably arranged on guides 14. Immediately after the end of the pushing-off process, the ejection slat 16 and the counter holder 15 return to their rest position, so that a new paddling cycle can begin. The grippers hold the roll tightly wrapped outside the winding area and at the same time provide support until it has set. During the setting process, the winding of a new roll of mesh on the mandrel 6 begins.
After the binding process has ended, the grippers 10, 11 and 11a are opened, the lower grippers 11 and 11a supporting the roll lowering the lattice roll onto inclined drainage rails 19 arranged laterally next to the winding machine. The roll leaves the setting room on these drainage rails under the effect of gravity. The empty grippers are returned to their starting position by hand or by suitable drive devices with the new roll of mesh already partially wound up.
In the illustrated embodiment, the grid roll and the gripper are advanced normal to the direction of flow of the grid web. However, the arrangement can also be made so that the movement of the grippers takes place in the direction of flow of the grid web.
Such an arrangement is particularly recommended for winding systems which instead of a continuous winding mandrel have only mandrel stubs that protrude a short distance into the inner opening of the lattice roll on both sides. In such winding systems, the grid rolls are not pushed off the mandrels, but rather the mandrels move away from each other until the mandrel stubs emerge from the interior of the roll.
