Process for the continuous production of endless, helically curved plastic loops
The invention relates to a method for the continuous production of endless, helically curved plastic hoses which, for. B. can be used as so-called artificial wreath casings. This is understood to mean round, helically curved intestines (as they are found on the animal body). These are preferred in the production of certain types of sausage.
All known attempts to make such coronary casings made of synthetic materials, such as. B. polyamides to produce, led to unsatisfactory results.
Only skin fiber casings can so far be produced in the shape of a wreath. The manufacture of the skin fiber intestines, which are sold under the brand name NATURIN intestines, can be found in the literature - e.g. B. the German patents 686 891, 684 784 and 638 585 - can be taken.
According to these known methods, a skin fiber mass opened up by suitable pretreatment - also known today as Naturin mass - is pressed out through an annular gap between a casing tube and a rotating core centrally located therein in the form of an endless, but straight tube. This hose can - if desired - be wound in a helical shape on an endless mandrel. If the intestine is sprayed with tanning agents such as wood smoke distillate or glyoxal in this state, hardening occurs, whereby the helical shape (coronary intestine) is stabilized.
In the process described above, only one natural product - the skin fiber - or natural mass - is transferred into a coronary intestine.
It is also already known to express thermoplastic compositions from annular gaps. The corresponding process is known in the art as the blown film blown process. (See, for example, the plastic technical dictionary by A. M. Wittfoht, Volume 2, Carl Hansen Verlag, Munich 1959.)
In the known blown film process, a thermoplastic mass emerges from an annular gap, which in turn is mounted in the so-called blow head. The blow head consists of an inner core or mandrel that is surrounded by the blow head jacket or blow head housing. The annular gap in the die is connected to a screw press via which hot thermoplastic material, e.g. B. 2250 C hot polyamide, is pumped into the annular and gap-shaped channel.
In the interior of the blow head mandrel there is also a bore through which air can be supplied. After leaving the ring-shaped and gap-shaped channel, the emerging, still very hot mass is produced in the form of a hose. This hose is passed through a pair of nip rollers at a distance of about 1 to 2 m above the exit gap.
At the same time, some air is blown through the hole in the blow head mandrel. This expands the still very hot and soft hose. Since the pair of squeeze rollers prevents the air from escaping in the hose and the blown air cannot escape downwards either, the part of the tube which is located between the exit plane of the gap and the pair of squeeze rollers is permanently filled with air. This air cushion has the task of expanding the original, small diameter of the hose emerging from the annular gap by about three times. On the way between the blow head and the pair of nip rollers, the hot hose naturally cools down. The cooling is also supported by a ring, which is arranged at a distance of about 3 to 5 cm above the exit plane of the annular gap.
The hose must go through this ring.
This ring in turn has a fully encircling slot on its inside, through which air is blown from all sides perpendicularly onto the outer surface of the inflating hose.
If a constant amount of thermoplastic is squeezed out of the ring slot in the blow head per unit of time and the withdrawal speed of the hose as well as the temperature and the amount of air exiting through the air ring are also constant, then the hose will reach its maximum diameter just above the air ring. This remains constant because the air trapped between the die and the nip rollers cannot escape - also constant. If you want to increase the expansion, i.e. the final diameter of the plastic hose, you have to add some air through the hole in the blow head.
In this way, straight endless hoses are also produced. Most of the time you cut it open afterwards to get a foil. But such plastic tubes have already been filled with sausage mass.
The aim of the invention is now to produce a uniformly curved, endless tube by a modified blown tubular film process.
Such endless helical tubes can then be cut into shorter pieces which can then be used as coronary intestines.
It must now be noted that in the known blown film blow molding process, the plane of exit of the thermoplastic compound from the annular gap in the blow head and the plane in which the air flows out of the slot in the air ring run strictly parallel to one another.
However, if you tilt the air ring a little, both planes form an angle. At this moment, the external cooling takes place at various distances above the exit plane of the thermoplastic material from the slot in the die. On the side where cooling begins later than on the opposite side, the mass remains plastic longer. Since at the same time the hose emerging from the ring slot in the blow head is constantly under tension (the rotating pinch rollers pull the hose out of the ring slot, so to speak), the softer side is stretched more than the opposite, the temperature of which is noticeably lower due to the earlier blowing. As a result of various longitudinal expansion, a helical tube is formed.
Of course, the same effect cannot be achieved by just tilting the air ring. It is also possible to divide the air ring into two halves, which are arranged at different distances, but offset from one another by 1800, above the exit plane of the thermoplastic material from the ring slot in the blow head.
The invention therefore relates to a process for the continuous production of endless, helically curved plastic hoses by pressing a heated plastic compound out of an annular slot stored in a blow head while simultaneously supplying a metered amount of air via a line in the blow head and retaining this supplied amount of air in the hose by means of squeezing rollers, which The method is characterized in that the expanding hose is cooled asymmetrically before reaching its final and largest diameter.
The curving, endless, inflated tube can then be removed continuously via numerous auxiliary rollers, preferably arranged in the form of a semicircle. After a semicircular or multiple revolution, the hose can pass a pair of squeezing rollers, each roller preferably being conical. If the curved casing were to pass through a conventional pair of rollers, folds could form in the roller gap, which in turn - at least partially - allow the trapped air to escape and thus disrupt continuous production.
After passing through the squeeze rollers, the now air-free, helically or helically curved endless hose can be wound onto a supply roll.
The process can be varied by not mounting the mandrel in the die head - as usual - centrically, but eccentrically. In this case, the exiting tube has different thicknesses at points offset by 1,800 immediately upon exit from the annular slot. In this way, the curvature effect can be increased.
Exemplary embodiments of the method according to the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. In the drawing show:
1 schematically shows a system for the continuous production of endless, helically curved plastic hoses.
FIG. 2 is a view of a detail of the installation in the direction of arrow A in FIG.
3 is a view of a further detail in the direction of arrow D in FIGS. 1 and
4 and 5 are sectional views along the line B-C in FIG. 1 for two embodiment variants.
In the system according to FIG. 1, a polyamide is heated to about 2300 ° C. in a screw press 1 and fed to a blow head 2. The polyamide emerges in the form of a tube from an annular slot 3. The otherwise usual closed air ring is now divided into two semicircular halves 4 and 5, which are mounted in different planes above the exit plane 3 ', 3 "of the polyamide mass from the ring slot 3. Fig. 2 shows a view of the half-ring 4, in the Air enters via a supply line 6. This air exits from a slot located on the inside of the half-ring 4 and strikes the outer wall of the expanding plastic tube 7 - essentially perpendicularly.
The half ring 5 is constructed like the half ring 4.
However, it is closer to the exit plane 3 ', 3 "and is also offset by 1800 relative to the half-ring 4.
Since the air from the half-ring 5 hits the right-hand side (in FIG. 1) of the inflating plastic tube earlier than the air on the half-ring 4 hits the left-hand side of the plastic tube, the latter bends to the right.
In the inflated state (the air required for inflation was pumped in via a supply line located in the blow head 2 but not shown) is fed to a squeezing mechanism via auxiliary rollers 8 (FIG. 1). As can be seen from FIG. 3, the latter consists of two conical rollers 9 'and 9 ". After passing through the squeezing mechanism 9, the casing is flat and curved.
4 shows, in section and in a top view, an eccentric mounting of the mandrel in the blow head 2.
The plastic hose emerging in this embodiment has a greater thickness on the left than on the right. If such a tube is curved according to FIG. 1, the end product, that is to say the coronary casing, has approximately the same thickness everywhere because the initially thicker side was also stretched the most.
Fig. 5 shows in section and in a top view schematically the usual concentric mounting of the mandrel in the blow head. The plastic tube exiting in this embodiment initially has the same thickness - that is, immediately above the exit plane 3 ', 3 "of the slot 3. If such a tube is curved as shown in FIG. on which greater stretching took place, the wall thickness was lower than on the side that was not stretched as much.
