Pressure tank having a flexible separator The claim of main patent N 381091 relates to a pressure tank having a flexible separator in which said separator isolates two fluids in the tank from one another and has, according to its mouth, two superimposed rolls engaged respectively in two grooves of a cover secured in the tank, the intermediate zone of the separator, which is between the two rolls, being chosen so, in the rest state, that after assembly of the separator in the tank it remains voltage-free,
the bou din closest to the mouth of the separator thus essentially playing a sealing role while the other plays mainly a catching role.
The present invention relates to a pressure tank as indicated above, in which the sealing and attachment conditions are notably reinforced by means of a simple and convenient construction.
According to the invention, the hooking bead has a section in the form of a beak directed towards the interior of the separator, the base of said beak constituting an annular gripping surface, while the groove intended to receive said gripping bead has a section in the form of a clam, and has an annular bearing step, adapted to receive said bearing surface by hooking application.
In one embodiment of the reservoir, the hooking flange has an annular engagement bearing surface at its end furthest from the mouth of the separator so that, after assembly, the hooking flange is compressed laterally with a greater degree of compression in its part which is furthest from the intermediate zone of the separator.
By virtue of this arrangement, excellent locking performance is obtained for the hooking rod. In a particular embodiment of the reservoir, the sealing flange has a lateral thickness directed towards the outside of the separator. This extra thickness of the sealing flange is separated by a step from the current outer surface of the separator.
Preferably, the step is arranged substantially halfway up the sealing ring so that, after assembly, the sealing flange is compressed laterally, with a greater degree of compression in its part which is furthest from the intermediate zone of the separator between the two tubes.
The result of this arrangement is to cause the pressure of the fluid surrounding the separator to act on the step, which pushes the sealing coil into wedging in its groove, making the sealing particularly effective.
The lateral compressions of the strands, in the conditions indicated above, have the effect of increasing the sealing and bonding performance and also of tending to bring the strands closer to one another, contributing to the relaxation. favorable to the sealing, of the material of the intermediate zone of the separator which is between the two tubes. This relaxation also results from the fact that the length of the material of the intermediate zone of the separator lying between the two strands is greater than the length of the cover lying between the two grooves, while the thickness of the material of said intermediate zone is smaller than the gap left at this location between the cover and the wall of the tank.
Such a relaxation of the material of said intermediate zone of the separator favors sealing, because it prevents the tensions exerted on the hooking bead from having repercussions on the sealing bead.
The invention is hereinafter described more fully, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which FIG. 1 is a view in longitudinal section of a pressure tank according to the invention; fig. 2 is a detail view of the deformable separator; fig. 3 is a detail view of the separator after mounting on the cover but before placing the latter in position in the bottle of the pressure tank.
Reference will first be made to FIG. 1. The pressure tank comprises a bottle 11 made of strong and rigid material, such as steel or aluminum, capable of withstanding the pressures to which the apparatus is subjected. The bottle is cylindrical over most of its body and has a hemispherical end 12 provided with an opening 13. A member 14 is mounted in the opening 13 and forms an orifice 15 through which a fluid such as pressurized oil may flow out.
The cylindrical part of the bottle 11 has, at the mouth, a larger diameter than in the main body of the bottle, and defines a curved shoulder 16. The mouth of the bottle 11 is arranged to be closed by a cup-shaped cover 17 which, as shown in FIG. 1, has an axial opening 18 arranged to receive a suitable air connection (not shown).
The side wall 19 of the cover 17 has a substantially cylindrical part which engages in the cylindrical mouth of the bottle 11.
As shown in FIG. 1, the cover is curved along its outer periphery with a vertical cross section as shown at 20, so as to be able to be applied on the corresponding curved shoulder 16 of the bottle. The part 19a of the cylindrical part 19 has an outer diameter which is substantially the same as the inner diameter of the bottle in the vicinity of the curved shoulder 16, so that it can engage therein to center the lid in the bottle. boils.
The lower part 19b of the cylindrical part 19 has an outer diameter smaller than the diameter of the bottle to define an intermediate space suitable for receiving the periphery of the deformable separator 22.
Separator 22 as shown is a retractable and expandable bladder having a large mouth and preferably made of an elastic material such as rubber or synthetic material having similar physical properties. The bladder 22 defines two chambers in the pressure tank: an oil chamber 23 which communicates with the passage 15 of the organ 14 and a gas chamber 25 which communicates with the opening 18.
The mouth of the bladder 22 has on its internal face two annular tubes 27, 28, formed integrally with the bladder and spaced from one another at 29. As seen in FIG. 2, the outer surface of the bladder 22 has an annular rim 31 extending outwardly and having a length substantially equal to half the length of the coil 27. The lower surface of the rim 31 forms substantially a right angle in 32 with the surface of the adjacent wall 33 of the bladder.
The step 32 is disposed substantially at mid-height of the coil 27 so that, after assembly, the coil 27 is compressed laterally, with a greater degree of compression in its part which is furthest from the intermediate zone 29 of the separator. 22 between the two tubes 27 and 28.
To receive the bladder 22, the lower cylindrical part 19b of the cover has, in its outer surface, two spaced apart annular grooves 34, 35, in which the annular flanges 27, 28 take place respectively. As seen in fi-. 1, the top wall 36 of the groove 34 is preferably inclined upwardly from the side wall 37 of the groove 34. The length of the portion of the wall 38 interposed between the grooves 34 and 35 is smaller than the length. length of part 29 of the bladder which extends between the struts 27 and 28.
The struts 27 and 28 have a transverse thickness such that, when the bladder 22 is mounted on the cover 17, with the struts 27, 28 engaged in the grooves 34, 35 respectively, and before the cover 17 and the bladder 22 do are placed in the bottle (fig. 3), the surface of the outer wall 33 of the bladder extends transversely beyond the part 19a of the cover 17. In addition, the annular rim 31 extends outwards beyond the wall surface 33.
The transverse thickness of the part of the wall 29 of the bladder 22 lying between the flanges 27, 28 is preferably smaller than the distance between on the one hand the outer periphery of the part 38 of the cover 17 lying between the grooves 34 , 35 and on the other hand a longitudinal line in the extension of the cylindrical part 19a.
The coil 28 has a section in the form of a beak directed towards the interior of the separator 22 and has an annular bearing surface 50 (Fig. 2) substantially planar and perpendicular to the axis of the separator 22, while the groove 35 of the tines to receive the coil 28 has an annular bearing step 51 (fi- '1) substantially planar and perpendicular to the axis of the reservoir, adapted to receive the bearing surface 50 in application of the hooking. The bearing surface 50 is disposed at the end of the coil 28 which is furthest from the mouth of the separator 22 so that, after assembly, the coil 28 is compressed laterally with a greater degree of compression in its part which is the further from the intermediate zone 29 of the separator 22.
With the arrangement which has just been described, when the part 19 of the cover 17 provided with the bladder 22 is force-fitted into the bottle 11 until the curved part 20 of the cover 17 rests against the curved shoulder 16, the strands 27 and 28 are compressed transversely. The cover 17 is fixed in position by folding the rim 41 of the bottle, from the position shown in dotted lines in FIG. 1 to the position shown in solid lines.
When the cover 17 is in place, the lower flange 28 is compressed in the groove 35 and the rounded end 42 of the part 19 sinks into the inner wall of the bladder below the lower flange 28, so that the latter hooks onto said rounded end 42. In addition, the upper coil 27 is compressed in the groove 34 and is deformed, so that it follows the inclined surface 36 of the groove 34 while substantially filling the latter .
The compression of the strands 27, 28 also has the effect of deforming them towards each other vertically, and the material 29 between the strands 27, 28 bends as shown at 45 in FIG. 1. The space provided between the opposite wall of the bottle and the periphery of the part 38 of the cover 17 is such that the inflected part 45 is free in this space.
In addition, because the annular rim 31 extends beyond the outer surface 33 of the bladder, this rim is compressed more than the portion 27 \ of the strut 27 which creates a sharply defined annular region 46 along the line. lower edge of the flange 31. During the operation of the pressure tank, the gas chamber 25 defined by the bladder 22 is charged with pressurized gas, then the oil chamber 23 is charged with oil under a pressure greater than that. gas in chamber 25.
When oil enters and exits chamber 23 during use of the pressure reservoir, for example to damp shock waves in a pressure line, the bladder deforms and is put under tension.
This tension is exerted first on the lower coil 28 and can cause it to come out slightly from its groove, which causes the sealing resulting from the compression of the coil 28 to cease.
The pressurized gas in the chamber 25 reacts against the strand 27. Since the pressure outside the annular groove 34 is atmospheric pressure and the gas pressure is much higher, the strand 27 moves upwards. up to the junction 47 between the inclined surface of the groove 34 and the adjacent wall of the bottle 11 and gets stuck in this junction in the manner of a 0 ring.
Since the material of the bladder has a sinuosity between the struts 27, 28 and the strand 28 is hooked in the groove, 35, the tension applied to the wall of the bladder only has the effect of moving the strut 28 slightly in it. an axial direction. Although this can cause the sealing provided by the coil 28 to cease, the sinuosity of the material of the bladder at 45 causes this material to absorb such tension and prevent movement of the coil 27, which maintains the seal. at junction 47 and. prevents leakage of pressurized gas.
The movement of the coil 28 which has just been described could also stop the oil tightness between the outer periphery of the coil 28 and the wall of the cylinder and, consequently, the pressurized oil in the chamber 23. would tend to escape along the outer surface of the bladder. However, due to the step 46 formed by the lower edge of the rim 31, the pressurized oil reacts against the shoulder 32 formed by said rim, which pushes the outer surface of the coil 27 upwards in the junction 47, and a sealing action results which prevents oil leakage from the bottle.
With the arrangement described above, thanks to the two struts having an inflected part between them, one of the struts forming a seal in cooperation with an annular groove of a support member of the bladder tan say that the other acts as an organ hooking in cooperation with another annular groove of the support member, the inflected part prevents even small movements that the hooking rod may take during use of the pressure tank from being transmitted to the sealing bead, and this results in excellent sealing.
