Description
Tool steel and use of the same The invention relates to a tool steel with two mutually adjustable cutting edges perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the shaft, and a use of the same.
A tool steel with two cutting edges which can be adjusted perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the shaft and which is provided with a right and a left shaft is already known.
which are adjustable and connected to one another by means of screws. However, this tool steel is not stable enough for today's accuracy and cutting line requirements due to its completely ge split structure.
The purpose of the invention is to create a tool steel which does not have these disadvantages.
The tool steel according to the invention is characterized in that the tool shaft is provided with a longitudinal slot from its one end along its shaft axis over part of its length,
the two parallel tool shank parts thus formed each carry a cutting edge at their ends and the two tool shank parts are connected to one another via adjusting means in such a way that their ends provided with the cutting edges can be adjusted to one another perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the shank.
The adjustment means are expediently formed by a threaded pin for pinning the two tool shaft parts apart and a screw for pulling the latter together.
The subject matter of the invention is also a use of the tool steel according to the invention as a piercing steel on a copy lathe.
In the drawing, an exemplary embodiment of a tool steel according to the invention is shown.
The figures show: FIG. 1 a plan view of the tool steel formed as a piercing steel; FIG. and FIG. 2 is a side elevation of the grooving tool shown in FIG. The grooving tool 1 shown in the drawing is provided with two cutting edges 2a and 2b which can be adjusted perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the shaft. The tool shank 3 is of its one. The end is provided with a longitudinal slot 4 along its shaft axis over part of its length.
The two parallel tool shank parts 3a and 3b thus formed each have a cutting edge formed by a hard metal plate 5 at their ends for producing two parallel insertion grooves on a rotary piece. The two tool shank parts 3a and 3b are connected to one another via the adjusting means 6 and 7, the threaded pin 6 being used to clamp the two tool shank parts 3a and 3b apart and the screw 7 being used to pull them together in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the shank.
The grooving tool 1 shown is particularly suitable for producing the grooves of the connecting rod bearings of crankshafts by means of a copier lathe, since the side flanks of the cutting edges 2a and 2b also serve to guide the crankshaft laterally when the grooves are fed to the connecting rod journals of the crankshaft edit the connecting rod serving cure.
As a result of the adjustability of the cutting edges 2a and 2b perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the shaft, the distance between the machined crank cheek surfaces facing each other can also be precisely maintained after one or more regrinding of the cutting edges 2a and 2b, so that the machining of the lateral crank cheek surfaces and the production of the grooves can be carried out with tolerances in a single operation.
