Folding armature relay The invention relates to a folding armature relay with a fixed core and an armature articulated therewith. There are various types of joint connections known for attaching the armature to the core of a hinged armature relay, such as those with hinge pins guided in a pivot bearing, with pointed screws engaging in conical holes or with cutting edge suspension.
These known joint connections all have certain disadvantages. As a result of wear and tear on the bearings, the susceptibility to hum can easily increase to such an extent that hum is finally occurring. Often the bearings should continue to be lubricated, but this can lead to increased friction due to the aging of the lubricating oil, while the bearing friction can also increase due to rust formation. Cutting suspensions are also sensitive to impact, and with pointed screw bearings there is a risk of the bearings being misaligned.
It has already been proposed to connect the core and armature by a leaf spring; however, this creates a pretension in the joint that is not always desired. In addition, symptoms of fatigue and notch effects can occur in such springs.
The invention is based on the object of creating an articulated connection for a hinged armature relay which does not have the disadvantages mentioned above and which can also be easily installed.
According to the invention, the hinge connection between core and armature consists of a hinge plate made of flexible plastic, which has a line of weakness forming the hinge axis and whose plate parts lying on both sides of this line are attached to the joint-side end faces of the core and armature.
Such a hinge connection has various advantages over the above-mentioned known hinge designs. So there can be no wear and tear and therefore no susceptibility to hum, because the joint connection has advantageous damping, great shock resistance and durability against aging and exhaustion phenomena, in addition to which no lubrication is required and no rust formation can occur. Furthermore, the joint is electrically insulating and magnetically non-conductive, inexpensive to manufacture and enables simple assembly and adjustment.
Since only a limited rotational movement occurs with hinged armature relays, the plastic hinge plate is only subjected to low bending loads, so that a long service life is ensured.
The use of a hinge plate made of a flexible plastic makes it possible to provide the hinge plate at the level of the weakening line with a perpendicular to the plate protruding, molded web, which lies between the relay core and the armature and whose thickness determines the air gap between these parts . Such a hinge plate with an integrally formed spacer bar can easily be produced by injection molding or a similar process and considerably simplifies the assembly of the relay because the desired air gap is obtained without further adjustment work being required on the relay.
This air gap cannot change when the clapper armature relay is used.
The attachment of the hinge plate to the relay parts can take place in different ways. According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, in which the injectability of the plastic brings substantial simplifications, the plate parts of the joint plate are each provided with a pair of carriages that laterally enclose the core or the anchor. The cheeks are expediently connected to a pin-shaped part penetrating a transverse hole in the core or anchor, the hinge plate with the cheeks and pin parts being formed in one piece by overmolding the core and anchor parts in question.
According to another embodiment of the invention, the joint plate can be provided with molded, parallel transverse ribs with an outwardly widening cross-sectional shape, the ribs being pushed or pressed into grooves of corresponding cross-sectional shape in the core and anchor. Simple assembly is also achieved in this way.
It is of course also possible to attach the hinge plate flat against the end faces of the core and the anchor, preferably by gluing, although screw or rivet connections or the like are also possible.
The line of weakness of the hinge plate is preferably formed in front of a groove provided in this plate on the side of the hinge plate facing away from the core and anchor. By choosing the groove depth and its cross-sectional shape, it is possible, if desired, to give the anchor a slight bias.
In the drawing, exemplary embodiments of the hinged armature relay according to the invention with an articulated connection are shown, the lower parts not necessary for a correct understanding of the invention, such as the relay coils, have been omitted.
Figures 1, 2 and 3 show three different embodiments of the articulated connection.
In the figures, 1 indicates a three-legged core and 2 indicates a plate-shaped armature of a hinged armature relay. Core 1 and armature 2 are layered from metal sheets in a known manner.
An outer leg 3 of the core 1 is provided on the top with a transverse groove 4 for receiving a short-circuit ring (not shown), while another leg 5 of the core 1 is connected to the corresponding end of the armature 2 by an articulated connection.
This articulation is formed by a plate or a strip 6 made of a flexible thermoplastic's plastic; it is fixed to the joint-side end faces of the core 1 and of the armature 2 in a fixed or easily movable manner. The hinge plate 6 extends over the entire width of the core 1 and the anchor 2 and has a transverse groove 7 approximately in the middle of its outside to form a line of weakness which forms the hinge axis of the hinge connection.
The groove 7 runs at the level of an air gap 8 between the core 1 and the armature 2, the plate part lying above the groove 7 expediently extending over the entire height of the armature 1 and the. The plate part lying below the groove 7 has approximately the same length.
According to the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the joint plate 6 is firmly attached to the end faces of the anchor and core by gluing. It is of course also possible to use screws, rivets or the like for this fastening, but this makes drilling holes in the armature 2 and in the leg 5 of the core 1 necessary.
As shown in FIG. 1, the hinge plate 6 can be provided at the level of the groove 7 with an integrally formed web 9 which protrudes perpendicularly from the plate 6 and lies between the leg 5 and the anchor 2. The thickness of this web 9 determines the width of the air gap 8 between the core and the anchor, so that the desired Luftspaltbrei te is obtained when the hinge plate 6 is mounted. This makes the assembly of the armature 2 much easier, which is very important in particular for the mass production of the relay.
According to the embodiment of FIG. 2, each joint plate half is provided with an integrally formed transverse rib 10 with an approximately key-shaped cross-sectional shape. The ribs 10 engage in grooves of corresponding cross-sectional shape in the end faces of the anchor and the core. The hinge plate 6 can be pushed laterally into the grooves with these ribs 10.
If the plastic used is sufficiently deformable and the selected cross-sectional shape of the ribs is suitable, it is also possible to press these ribs in a direction perpendicular to the end faces of the core and armature through the groove openings until they lie in the grooves. The hinge plate 6 or Fig. 2 is also provided with a spacer web 9, which, however, can also be fortge in this embodiment.
The hinge plate 6 of the embodiment shown in FIG. 3 has two cheeks 11 which enclose the anchor 2 on both sides and two further cheeks 12 which enclose the leg 5 of the core 1 on both sides, where the two pairs of cheeks are separated from one another at the level of the groove 7 are. The two cheeks 11 and also the cheeks 12 are connected to the miteinan by a pin part which extends through a transverse hole in the leg 5 or in the armature 2.
The plate 6 is molded in one piece with the carriages 11 and 12 and the pin parts 13 ″ made of plastic, for which the core 1 and the armature 2 are arranged in the correct position in a die and the parts concerned are overmolded with plastic. If desired In this case, too, a web 9, as indicated in FIGS. 1 and 2, could be injection molded onto the plate 6, but in general such a web can be omitted in the design according to FIG.
In all of the described configurations of the articulated connection, the correct choice of the cross-sectional shape and the depth of the groove 7 can determine the flexibility of the articulation plate 6 along this groove as desired, the wall thickness of the plate in the weakening groove 7 being selected to be very small, so that a practically negligible bending resistance occurs.
However, it is also possible to use the elastic properties of the plastic of the hinge plate to give the armature a slight bias in the closing direction.
