Fig. 2 in dem Greifgerät selbst gewonnen.
Gripping device with program-controlled actuating devices The invention relates to a gripping device for detecting, conveying and depositing objects, with program-controlled actuating devices for the various directions of movement of the gripper movement in space, in which the program consists of a common program section and several special sections and the control at least partly under the influence of external signals.
In the following, program control is understood to be control by means of a program recorded on a carrier, in contrast to control by cam disks or cam disks. The number of movements that can be carried out in a work sequence is rather limited with cam disk control, and each time a program is changed, a new series of cam disks must be designed, manufactured and installed. Then the machine must be carefully adjusted before it can carry out the new work sequence.
In contrast, program-controlled machines are far more adaptable and can be switched to a new program without any effort. Such program-controlled machines are z. As described in U.S. Patent Nos. 2,590,091 and 2,988,237. The latter of these relates, like the subject matter of the present invention; on a gripping device.
Once the program has been saved, it is always executed in the same way on these devices. Periodic interruptions in the program can be provided in order to coordinate the device with other devices, and the continuation of the program can be made dependent on the object in question being present at a certain point. However, only one work sequence with planned interruptions is carried out repeatedly.
The object of the invention, on the other hand, is the creation of a gripping device with program-controlled actuation devices that selectively carry out one of several available program operations depending on changeable external conditions.
The inventive gripping device for capturing, conveying and depositing objects, with program-controlled actuating devices for the various directions of movement of the gripper movement in space, in which the program consists of a common program section and several special sections and the control is at least partially under the influence of external factors Signals occurs, is characterized by control means, which make a selected part of the program selectively effective when certain external conditions occur, and a sequential circuit,
which uses the common program section and the selected special section one after the other to control the actuating devices.
The external conditions that are used for the selective program selection are, in particular, properties of the objects to be treated, such as color, hardness, thickness, weight, etc., without being limited to such properties.
Some exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are described below with reference to the drawing. It is assumed that it is a single point control in which the individual end points of the gripper movement are digitally stored. For the gripping device according to the invention, however, step controls or continuous path controls are just as useful. These types of controls are discussed, for example, in U.S. Patent No. 2,590,091.

4 shows a plan view of the gripper arm from FIG. 3; FIG. 5 shows a partial section of the gripper arm from FIG. 3 along the line 5-5 on a larger scale;
6 shows a schematic representation of the program control for the embodiment of FIG. 1, FIG. 7 shows a partial view of the gripper head according to FIGS. 3 to 5 with modifications for the embodiment of FIG. 2,
FIG. 8 shows a modification of the gripper head according to FIG. 7 and FIG. 9 shows a detail from FIG. 6 with the necessary changes for interaction with the gripper head according to FIGS. 7 and B.
The gripping device 10 shown in Fig. 3-5 consists of a foot 12, an extendable column 14, an arm 16 and a gripper head 18. A drive device 20 is housed in the foot 12, which. is connected to the rotatable shaft 24 via two chains and chain wheels. A cylinder 26 attached to the foot 12 carries an upper bearing 28 for the shaft 24, while a lower thrust bearing 30 is housed in the foot 12 for the same.
The arm 16 has a horizontal pivot axis 82c which is mounted on the head of the shaft 24. A zy-cylindrical protective sleeve 32, which is around the cylinder 26, is attached to the shaft 24. Near the lower end of this protective sleeve, one part 34a of a hydraulic actuator 34 is attached, while the extendable rod 34b of the actuator 34 is attached to the arm 16 to pivot vertically about the same about the axis 82c.
Two hollow shafts 36a and 36b are telescopically displaceable in the arm 16. The Hoblweiilen 36a and 36b carry the head 37 of the gripper head 18 and enable a radial displacement of the same in order to be able to extend and retract it. E'm hydr,, s ch,
The actuating member 38 in the arm 16 contains a piston 38b, to which the legs rod 38a is attached, which in turn is connected to the joint head 37.
In the joint head 37, a shaft 40 is rotatably Gela Gert. A part 42, which in turn serves to support a part 42, is pivotable about the shaft 40, so that it can perform a rotary movement about the axis of the arm 16. So the gripper head 18 can rela tively to the arm 16 pivoted and rotated.
To execute the pivoting movement, a bevel gear 46 is attached to the shaft 40 and meshes with a bevel gear 48. The bevel gear 48 is connected to a bevel gear 52 mounted on the rear of the arm 16 via a telescopic shaft 50, 50 'with spline teeth (right in Fig. 4).
A drive bevel gear 54 meshes with the bevel gear 52, which is connected to a two-part hydraulic actuator 60 via two chains and chain wheels 56, 58. The chains 58 are pulled through the two parts of the actuator 60 at one end or the other. As a result, the shaft 50 rotates, which in turn rotates through the shaft 40 and thus causes a pivoting movement of the joint head 37 about the axis of the shaft 40.
In order to give the part: 44 a rotary movement, a bevel gear 62 is attached to the part 44 and is in engagement with two interconnected bevel gears 64a, 64b, which are rotatable together about the shaft 40, but are not axially displaceable. They are stored on part 42. A bevel gear 66 at the end of a shaft 68 meshes with bevel gear 64b.
The parts of the telescopic shaft 68, 68 ′ connected with spline teeth are driven via bevel gears 70 and 72, chains and chain wheels 74, 76 and a two-part hydraulic actuating member 78, as was described for the actuating member 60. The actuating member 78 thus rotates the bevel gear 62 in the joint head 37, as a result of which the part 44 rotates about its axis.
The device can therefore move in five directions of movement with the aid of the actuators 20, 34, 38, 60 and 78. The actual value of the position of each driven part is measured by analog / digital converters. For example, the shaft 24 is coupled to a converter 80 via toothed wheels 80a and 80b. For each angular position of the shaft 24, the converter 80 generates a specific code that gives a numerical representation of the relevant position within the entire range of motion.
Likewise, a converter 82 is connected to the pivot axis 82c of the arm 16 via a gear 82a and a toothed sector 82b. The converter 84 for measuring the radial position of the joint head 37 is connected via gears 84a, 84b to a spring-loaded drum 86c around which a rope 86d is wound. The latter is looped around a roller 86e fastened to the rod 38a and its end is fastened to a pin 86f with the interposition of a tension spring 86g. Similarly, converters 86 and 88 are provided for digitally detecting the pivoting movement of the part 42 and the rotational movement of the part 44.
The gripper head 18 carries two grippers, rbaclcen 90, which are mounted on pins in the rotatable part 44. A piston 92 in a cylindrical bore of the part 44 is ver via two links 94 with the jaws 90 connected. A pressure medium can be supplied to the right side of the piston 92 in FIG. 5 via bores 96 and 98. The jaws 90 are normally held open by means of a compression spring 100 to the left of the piston 92.
When a pressure medium is supplied, the piston 92 moves to the left against the force of the spring 100 and thereby closes the jaws 90. An object can thus be grasped and released again by relieving the piston 92.
The gripping device 10 described so far is known and well suited for detecting, conveying and storing objects.
It is known that the actuators for the five directions of movement can be acted upon digitally or analogously in single point control or continuous path control. The desired program can be stored in the control device in that the device is guided once by hand on the desired path and the individual positions are recorded magnetically, for example.
The program can then be repeated as often as required until it is set by a new recording. For further control options, reference is additionally made to US Pat. No. 2,988,237.
The adaptation of the program control to various external conditions will now be described with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2.
In Fig. 1 only the arm 16, the joint head 37 and the jaws 90 are shown schematically. The jaws 90 are just gripping an object P lying in a chute 102. The bottom of the slide is inclined laterally here, so that the objects P are all Lich on the right side wall 102a of the slide.
By means of the program control, the actuating device of the gripping device 10 now receives the command to lift an object P out of the slide, to turn it by 90, so that its surface on the right side of the slide faces downwards and then to the platform of a spring balance 104 to transport.
Now the jaws let go of the object, which is then weighed. Up to this point, the control is taken care of by a program section that is common to all objects with different weights.
The weight of the object P is now used to select the subsequent program-controlled movements of the gripper head 18. The object is again gripped by the jaws 90 and then, depending on the measured weight, is deposited in one of the four receptacles 106A-106D. The common program section is then resumed.
The jaws open see to let go of the object, and then the empty jaws are returned to the position on the chute 102 on acceptance.
FIG. 6 shows the control device for the actuation device of the gripping device 10 (FIGS. 3-5) for executing the operations described with reference to FIG.
An embodiment of the actuating member of the gripping device 10 is shown in FIG. 6 by the hydraulic cylinder 108 with piston 110. The pressure fluid is selectively supplied to one side of the piston 110 via one of the lines 112a and 112b, with the other side of the piston 110 being relieved via the other line. The control takes place via the control slide 114.
If the actuating member is to stop at a certain point, the control slide 114 blocks the flow of liquid on both sides of the piston. The pressure fluid is supplied to the control slide 114 via line 116, while lines 118a and 118b return the low-pressure fluid to a storage container. Two electromagnets 120a and 120b move the control piston 114a for the purpose of actuating the cylinder 108 to one or the other side from the central position.
When no electromagnet is energized, the piston returns to the center by means of springs located in the electromagnets 120a and 120b. Furthermore, a brake magnet 121 is provided to hold the piston 114a in the central position when the cylinder 108 is to stop in any position, even if one of the electromagnets 120 is energized.
For the program-controlled excitation or de-excitation of the electromagnets 120a and 120b, a magnetic drum 122 is provided, which can be rotated by a drive 124. The individual tracks of the magnet drum 1.22 can be read by magnetic heads 126, which are divided into five groups 126a-126b.
The magnetic heads 126 allow a readout at rest; H. They respond to the magnetic field strength and do not require any relative movement between the magnetic drum and the magnetic head to induce an output signal.
The head group 126a reads a code combination which corresponds to the target point to which the relevant actuator 108 is to bring its machine part. This code corresponds in each case to a specific code combination of the analog / digital converter coupled to this actuator.
Converters 128a-128e assigned to the individual magnetic head groups are shown in FIG. They correspond. the converters 80, 82, 84, 86 and 88 in FIG. 3. The converters 128 transmit the actual value signals to comparators 130, to which the setpoint signals from the magnetic heads 126 are also fed.
The comparators indicate the difference between the target value and the actual value according to the sign and numerical value. Depending on the sign of the system deviation formed, one or the other of the electromagnets 120 is excited and remains excited until the system deviation disappears, whereupon. the control piston 114a returns to the central position and the actuator 108 is locked.
The comparator described in US Pat. No. 2,988,237 can also be used for the gripping device according to the invention, although it only indicates the agreement or non-agreement between the actual value and the nominal value without the sign of the deviation. In this case, the electromagnet 120 to be excited is determined by a magnetic head 126 which scans a track on the drum 122 indicating the drive direction.
If the relevant comparator 130 determines that the two signals match, the piston slide 114a is in all cases moved to the central position and the actuating member 108 stops.
Associated with each comparator 130 are two electromagnets 120 which control a corresponding control valve 114 and an actuator 108. When all five comparators 130 are matched, this state is determined by a coincidence gate <B> 132 </B> and the coincidence gate 132 gives if a few other,
Conditions yet to be specified send a stepping pulse to a bistable flip-flop 134, which advances the drum drive 124 by one step. At the same time, each piston slide 114a is brought into the middle position and the brake magnet 121 is controlled by the toggle switch 134 so that the control valve 114 is held in its central position.
It is assumed that the brake 121 responds faster than the drum advance, so that valve 114 is blocked before the positions of the magnetic drum 122 just scanned leave the magnetic heads 126. So all actuators 108 remain in the last position taken a, even if after switching the magnetic drum 122 other Codekombi nations are scanned by the magnetic heads 126.
A magnetic head 126f is used to stop the magnetic drum 122 at the location of the next memory word. When the drum has advanced by one word, the magnetic head 126f gives a locking pulse to the flip-flop 134, whereby the same returns to the idle state and the drum drive 124 stops. The next program word thus remains under the read heads 126 and the brakes 121 are released. The control valves 114 can now be adjusted accordingly to the new code combinations compared to the actual values supplied by the converters 128.
In this way, the gripper head 18 can point-wise execute any three-dimensional movement sequence in order to accomplish the operations indicated in FIG.
After the gripper head 18 has been adjusted so that the gripper jaws 90 can grasp or release an object, the drum advances in the manner described. The next program word contains a jaw actuation command in the track scanned by magnetic head 126g. This command is given to a bistable multivibrator 158, which changes its state with each new input pulse.
This toggle switch is connected to a control valve which alternately pressurizes or relieves the jaw actuating piston 92 and thus neither opens or closes the gripping jaws.
In the program word which contains the actuation command for the jaws, there are the same position commands for the magnetic heads 126 as in the previous program word. The brake 121 is released after the drum 122 has come to a standstill, but because the comparators 130 have all been calibrated, the coincidence gate <B> 132 </B> immediately emits an incremental pulse so that there is insufficient time to operate the jaws put,
A short delay has to be introduced by a monostable delay element 138 under the control of the magnet head 126g. The delay element 138 controls a coincidence gate 140.
Only when the delay interval of the delay element 138 has expired and the latter returns to its idle state does the coincidence gate 140 let a pulse through to the flip-flop 134. The delay need only be long enough for the jaws 90 to grip an object before the actuators for movement come back into operation.
The delay element 138 can be omitted if the switching time of the drum 122 is sufficient for the jaw actuation.
In the application example of FIG. 1, the object is placed on a scale 104 at one point in the work sequence. This spring balance is shown in FIG. 6 and is provided with a number of photocells 142 which are normally shielded from a light source (not shown) by a screen 144. The platform 104a of the scale 104 is supported by a rod 104b on which teeth are attached which mesh with a gear 104c.
The distance by which the platform 104a with the rod 104b moves downwards depends on the balance between the weight of the object standing on the platform 104a and the restoring force of the spring 104d. The toothed wheel 104c is fastened to the diaphragm 144, so that during the downward movement of the platform 104a, the edge 144a of the diaphragm 144 passes the photocells 142 one after the other and releases them for exposure.
Each photocell 142 is connected to a relay 146, 148 and 150, respectively. Each relay remains energized as long as the associated photocell is exposed. The relay 146 has a normally closed contact 146a and a normally open contact 146c, which are alternately contacted by a contact arm 146b. The contact pair 146a, 146b is in the connection between the magnetic head 126f and the flip-flop 134.
The contact 146c is connected to the normally closed contact 148a of the relay 148, while the normally open contact 148c of the latter relay is connected to the normally closed contact 150a of the relay 150. The normally open contact 150c is connected to a magnetic head 126j.
As long as the balance 104 is unloaded, the drum advance proceeds in the manner described and is terminated each time; when the magnetic head 126f scans a magnetized point again, which is the case with the next program word.
The same applies if an object in the lowest weight class is placed on the scales. If, on the other hand, an object has sufficient weight to turn the shutter 144 so far that the photocell 142a is released, the relay 146 is energized, the normally closed contact 146a opens and the magnetic head 126f is switched off. The normally open contact 146c closes and, with the contact arm 146b, forms a control connection from the magnetic head -126a via the contacts 148a, 148b and 146b, 146c to the toggle switch 134.
If the weight of the object is sufficient to also release the photocell 142b, the magnetic head 126h is separated again; and a connection from magnetic head 126i to flip-flop 134 is made.
If all the photocells are exposed, then all the relays are also picked up and the control connection runs from the magnetic head 126j via the break contact 150c and the contact arm 150b to the toggle switch 134.
Depending on the weight of the object placed on the scales 104, one of the magnetic heads 126h, 126i and 126j takes over the advancement of the magnetic drum instead of the magnetic head 126f.
The magnetic heads 126h-126] face magnetic tracks 152h-152] on the magnetic drum 122.
The magnetized locations of these tracks are spaced apart from one another which is equal to several times the distance between two successive program words that were detected by the magnetic head 126f. So there are several program words available for each of the special programs to be executed depending on the weight. A magnetized position in one of the tracks 152h-152] denotes the start word of the relevant special program.
After one of the magnetic heads 126h-126] has become effective as a result of the energization of one or more relays 146, 148, 150, the drum rotates until the first word of the selected special program appears under the relevant magnetic head 126h, 126i or 126j.
The first step of the selected program is carried out automatically. It consists in the gripping jaws 90 immediately closing around the object on the scale and lifting it off the scale. As a result, the relay contacts 146a and 146b close and the magazine head 126f comes into operation again to stop the drum after each progression to a program word.
Another magnetic head 126k on the magnet drum 122 is connected to a monostable delay element 154, which leads to an input of the coincidence gate 140. In each program word that contains a jaw opening command for the position of the gripping device 10 in which an object is placed on the scale 104, a command scanned by the magnetic head 126k is contained.
As long as the delay element 154 is tilted, the coincidence gate 140 remains blocked. As a result, after an object has been placed on its platform 104a, the spring balance 104 can come to rest before the drum increment starts to work.
The object then remains on the scales while the magnetic drum continues to run; until the magnetic head 126h, 126i or 126j selected by the balance emits a reset pulse for the toggle switch 134, by means of which the drum is stopped.
After the advance of the magnetic drums up to the first program word of the selected special program, the further operations to control the gripping jaws 90 and the actuators of the gripping device 10 as in the execution of the common program go ahead.
In the example of FIG. 1, the special programs cause the gripping jaws 90 to grasp the object standing on the platform 104a and then move it along a path that requires a few program words of the magnetic drum 122 to one of the Transport storage locations 106A-106D. During this program sequence, the contacts 146a, 146b are closed again because the object has been lifted from the spring balance,
and the magnetic head 126f takes back control of the stepping device.
If the processes of detecting an object on the scales and lifting it off are to be carried out in two successive steps under the control of two program words, instead of using a single program word as above, this can be done simply by inserting the in two successive word spaces Magnet drum a stepping command 152h, 152i or
152j is stored at the beginning of each special program, with a jaw closing command in the first of these second program words and a lifting command for the actuators concerned being stored in the second program word. Then the advancing of the drum is taken over again by the magnetic head 126f because the contacts 146a and 146b close.
After the selected special program has ended, the joint operating program must be resumed. For this purpose, the closed gripping jaws are first opened by actuating the jaw tilting circuit 158 again. Then the gripper head 18 is returned to the pick-up point on the chute 102. This movement takes place under circumstances on a complicated path that requires a number of program words. Then the device is ready to automatically start another work cycle.
Means are provided in order to let the magnetic drum run through without interruption from the last word of the special program selected to the first word of the common program to be resumed. As mentioned, a signal on the line 133 from the coincidence gate 140 toggles the bistable multivibrator 134 into the working state in which the drum drive 124 is switched on. Conversely, a pulse on the line 147 from one of the magnetic heads 126f, 126h, 126i or 126j sets the flip-flop 134 back again, whereby the drum drive is switched off.
In the line 147 there is a gate 160 which usually allows the switch-off pulses for the drum drive from the magnetic head 126f, etc., which is in operation, to pass. However, a bi-stable multivibrator 162 is provided under the control of the magnetic heads 126m and 1.26n in order to block the gate 160 temporarily. The flip-flop 162 can be constructed like the flip-flop 134.
In the last program word of each special program, an instruction is stored in the track of the magnetic head 126m which triggers the flip-flop 162 in such a way that the gate 160 is blocked. Furthermore, in the. first word of the common program that follows the individual special programs, an instruction stored in the track for the magnetic head 126n.
If the last actuation has ended according to the last program word of the selected special program, the magnetic drum begins to rotate and continues this rotation because the toggle switch 162 comes into action until the blocking effect on gate 160 is canceled becomes. This occurs when the magnetic head 126n scans an instruction in the first program word with which the common program is resumed.
As a result, the flip-flop 162 is returned to the rest position in which it holds the gate 160 open. During this advance of the Ma gnettrommel the various actuators of the gripping device 10 are all blocked because the brakes 121 engage.
While the application example in FIG. 1 related to the selection of the special programs by a signal generated outside the gripping device, namely by the scales adjusted according to the weight of the respective objects, the control signals for the selection of the special programs in. 2 gained in the gripping device itself. The selection is controlled here by the dimensions of the individually recorded objects.
For example, sockets are to be isolated by being fed from a supply chute 170 either to a normal storage location or to one or more storage locations for rejects, depending on their diameter. The normal storage location is shown here as a vertical pin 172 on a base 174, which rests on a conveyor belt 175. If the socket has the prescribed outer diameter, a program is selected that contains the movements required to place the socket on the pin.
On the other hand, if the bushing diameter is too large or too small, a program is selected in which the gripper head 18 drops the bushing into a waste bin 176. The control programs are the same as those described with reference to FIG. 6, except that the spring balance 104 is replaced here by a gauge that is formed by the gripping jaws 90 according to FIG. 7-9.
In Fig. 7, the gripping jaws 90 a relative to the gripping jaws 90 in Fig. 3-5 modified in that they have V-shaped notches in order to grab a socket B. A rod 178 mounted on the lower jaw is guided by pins 180 on the upper jaw. Two switches 182 and 184 attached to the upper jaw 90a have switch arms 182a and 184a which abut the upper end of the rod 178 under spring pressure. The arrangement is such that both switches open when rod 178 retreats, but are closed when rod 178 raises switch arms 182a and 184a.
The switch arms are set so that the switch arm of one switch is pressed down and the other switch arm is raised for a socket with the target diameter. For example, sockets with the wrong diameter and even sockets outside certain tolerances that have accidentally got into the chute 170 can be distinguished from sockets with the nominal diameter if the switch is set correctly.
As FIG. 9 shows, contacts 182b, 182c of switch 182 and contacts 184b and 184c of switch 184 are closed when rod 178 is withdrawn and the gripping jaws are open. If the contacts are in the position shown in FIG. 9, a socket gripped by the jaws 90a is oversized. If, however, the switching arms 184b and 182b are both in the lower position, the socket is undersized. In both cases the control is programmed here so that the scrap sockets are eliminated.
This is done by means of a special program on the magnetic drum 122 ', which is selected by means of one of the magnetic heads 126f' or 126h '. The scrap cans are thrown into the bin 178. The third switch combination (only switch arm 184b in the lower position) causes the relevant socket to be placed on the pin 172 in accordance with the program recorded for this purpose. In the present example, read heads 126f 'and 126h' select the same program.
Apparently, different special programs for the separate sorting of sockets with undersized and oversized sockets can just as well be set up.
In Fig. 7, the jaws 90a not only serve to grasp a socket, but also serve as a gauge. This need not be the case. Thus, in Fig. 8, a special gauge lever 186 is provided which is articulated on the upper jaw 90b and actuates the switches 182 'and 184'. The lever 186 is urged by a spring 188 against the bushing B retained in the jaws 90b. Such an arrangement can be carried out with great precision and sensitivity.
Further possible uses of the program selection are readily apparent. The programs saved in each case can easily be changed or replaced. The devices used for this purpose have been omitted for the sake of brevity, since they do not form part of the invention.
In the embodiment of FIG. 6, the special programs are all scanned by a common set of magnetic heads. This represents an economical arrangement since, in a practical exemplary embodiment, twelve or more magnetic heads 126 can be combined into a single group for controlling the actuating elements.
However, this arrangement causes a certain loss of time while the magnetic drum searches for the selected special program and rotates until the first word of this special program has reached the magnetic heads.
Switching to the selected special program is faster if several magnetic head sets are distributed around the circumference of the magnetic drum in such a way that they are just opposite the starting words of the individual special programs at the time of the selection process: In this case, the program selection simply consists of one Switching process without the magnetic drum having to rotate. Instead of the magnetic drum, other known program memories can of course be used.
