Sheet feeding mechanism The present invention relates to a sheet feeding mechanism, e.g. B. for feeding individual image carrier sheets onto a drum of a xerographic device.
The proposed sheet feed mechanism is characterized according to the invention by a frame, a pair of feed rollers mounted in the frame, a carrier for a stack of sheets to be fed, by a reciprocating shaft mounted in the frame, at one end is driven rocker arm is attached by a pair of arms attached to the shaft, and a rotatably mounted tube at the ends of the arms, by at least one separator attached to the tube and a cam follower attached to one end of the tube, by one on the frame attached cams, and means,
to keep the cam follower in engagement with the cam, the cam having a vertical and a horizontal guide surface, whereby the separator is moved from a contact point with the top sheet of the Sta pels upwards during the reciprocating movement of the shaft, during the The cam follower runs along the vertical guide surface, and as the shaft continues to rotate, the cam follower runs along the horizontal guide surface, which causes the separating member to rotate towards the feed rollers.
An embodiment of the subject invention is described below with reference to the drawing be. 1 shows schematically a xerographic device with a sheet feed mechanism constructed according to the invention, FIG. 2 a front view of a paper separating mechanism, FIG. 3 a rear view of the paper separating mechanism illustrated in FIG. 2, FIGS. 4 and 5 front views of the Paper separating mechanism with parts broken away,
to show the arrangement of the various drive parts of the sheet feeding mechanism, FIG. 6 is a plan view of the sheet feeding mechanism, and FIG. 7 is a left side view of the sheet feeding mechanism.
As shown schematically in Fig. 1, the xerographic reproduction apparatus has a xerographic plate 20 with a photoconductive layer on a conductive support which is in the form of a drum. The drum is rotatably mounted on a shaft in a frame in the direction indicated by the arrow in order to successively guide the drum surface past a plurality of xerographic process stations.
The function of the individual xerographic process stations along the movement path of the drum surface is as follows: A uniform electrostatic charge is applied to the photoconductive layer of the xerographic drum at the charging station.
At the exposure station, a light or radiation pattern of an original to be reproduced is projected onto the drum surface in order to dissipate the charge on the drum surface in the exposed areas, whereby a latent electrostatic charge member is generated in the original to be reproduced.
At the development station, a xerographic developer material with toner particles bearing an electrostatic charge opposite to that of the electrostatic charge image is poured over the drum surface, the toner particles adhering to the electrostatic latent charge image and forming a xerographic powder image corresponding to the original to be reproduced.
At the transfer station, the xerographic powder image is electrostatically transferred from the drum surface to an image transfer material or an image carrier.
At the drum cleaning and unloading station, the drum surface is brushed to remove the rest of the toner particles that still adhere to the drum surface after the image transfer, and the drum surface is exposed to a relatively bright light source in order to discharge residual electrostatic charges. The charging station is preferably located at the point indicated by the reference character A.
It contains a corona discharge device 21, with a corona discharge arrangement comprising one or more electrodes which extend across the surface, are fed from a high-voltage source and are arranged within a shield.
Subsequently, in the direction of the movement path of the xerographic drum, there is the exposure station B. An optical scanning or projection system is used to project an image of a stationary original onto the surface of the photoconductive, moving drum.
The optical scanning or projection device consists of - a stationary original carrier made of a transparent, curved plate 22, for example egg ner glass plate or the like, which is arranged on the outside of the housing and holds the original to be reproduced. The original is evenly illuminated and arranged in such a way that it projects the light onto the moving, light-sensitive surface of the xerographic drum. Uniform lighting is achieved by rows of LMP lamps on opposite sides of the original holder.
A scanning of the original on the stationary support is achieved with the aid of a mirror arrangement which is swiveled back and forth relative to the original holder and in time coincidence with the movement of the xerographic drum.
The mirror assembly includes an object mirror 23 disposed below the original holder, which reflects an image of the original through a lens 24 onto an image mirror 25, which in turn reflects the image onto the xerographic drum through a slot of a light shield 26 fixedly disposed adjacent to the xerographic drum surface.
Adjacent to the exposure station is a developer station C, consisting of a housing 30 with a collecting vessel for the developer material. A conveyor device provided with buckets is used to transport the developer material into the upper part of the developer housing, from where it is poured onto the xerographic drum via a pouring funnel to effect development.
A toner distributor is used to meter the amount of toner that is added to the developer material, since the toner particles are consumed during the development process.
Adjacent to the developing station is the image transfer station D, which contains the sheet feed arrangement with which sheets of the image transfer material, for example paper or the like, are successively fed to the xerographic drum, in coordination with the appearance of a developed image on the Drum surface at the transfer station.
The illustrated sheet feed mechanism ent holds a sheet feed assembly 40 with vacuum feed each of the top sheet of a stack of sheets on a carrier 41 to a number of to guide rollers 43 so that it passes through the rollers to a paper transport device 44, which in turn the sheet to an alignment device 45 adjoining the xerographic drum. The alignment device holds each individual sheet of paper firmly, aligns it and then conveys it to the xerographic drum in a timed manner to move the xerographic drum and a powder image on it.
The transfer of the xerographic powder image from the drum surface to the sheets of image transfer material is achieved with the aid of a corona transfer device 51 which is located at or immediately after the line of contact between the transfer material and the rotating drum. In operation, the electrostatic field generated by the corona transfer device serves to electrostatically adhere the transfer material to the drum surface, whereby the transfer material remains in contact with the drum while it moves synchronously therewith.
At the same time, the electrostatic field serves to attract the toner particles that make up the xerographic powder image of the drum surface and cause them to adhere electrostatically to the surface of the transfer material.
Immediately following the transfer station, a stripping device or a paper lifting device 52 is attached to remove the paper sheets of the transfer material from the drum surface. This device, which may be of the type shown in US Pat. No. 3,062,563, contains a plurality of small diameter orifices which are sent with compressed air through a suitable pulsator or other device.
The pulsator is adapted to send a jet of a pressurized gaseous medium through the outlet of the openings located near the surface of the xerographic drum in the direction of advance of the transfer material in order to lift the leading edge of the sheet from the drum surface and guide the sheet onto an endless conveyor belt 55 which brings it to a fuser 60. On the fixing device, the transferred forex graphic powder image is permanently fixed on the transfer material or melted by heat.
After the melting process, the finished copy is conveyed out of the device at a suitable point with a conveyor device 65 and collected outside the device.
The next and last station of the device consists of a drum cleaning station E with a corona pre-cleaning arrangement 66, similar to the corona charging device 21, and a drum cleaning arrangement 70, which uses a rotating brush to remove the powder remaining on the xerographic drum surface after transfer 71 removed and which contains a discharge lamp LMP-1, which floods the forex graphic drum with light,
to dissipate the remaining electrostatic charges on the xerographic drum surface. In order to remove the remaining powder from the xerographic drum, the cylindrical brush 71 is rotatably arranged on an axis. The drive ge happens via a motor, which is not shown. To collect the powder particles removed from the xerographic drum by the brush 71, a dust hood 73 is provided which covers about 2 / s of the brush area.
To ensure thorough cleaning of the brush, a resilient rod 74 is located inside the dust hood, adjacent to the edge of the outlet 75 of the dust hood, which rod engages the bristle tips of the brush, thereby wiping the dust particles therefrom.
To remove the dust particles from the brush and dust hood, an exhauster 76 is placed over the outlet of the dust hood. This is connected with its other end to the wall of a filter container 77 which belongs to the dust hood. A filter pocket 78 is easily seen inside the filter box, the opening of which is connected to the Exhauster line. A motorized fan MOT-6 is connected to the filter canister and creates a flow of air through the filter canister, through the area surrounding the xerographic drum and the dust hood, with the particles removed from the drum entering the airflow. The powder particles are separated from the air in the filter bag so that only clean air reaches the engine.
Finally, suitable drive means are provided to drive the drum, to rotate the mirror and to drive the sheet feed mechanism at predetermined speeds relative to one another and to drive the conveyor belt provided with dump buckets and the sound distribution mechanism.
The sheet feed mechanism is used to separate the upper most sheets, only one at a time, from a stack of sheets and to feed the sheets to the paper transport 44. The mechanism can be designed as a coherent unit with the reproduction device or, as shown, separated therefrom and only connected to the frame of the reproduction device.
As can be seen from FIGS. 2 to 7, a frame is provided from plates 301 and 302, which are held parallel and at a distance from one another by rods 307 th.
The stack of sheets that are to be separated and moved forward is on a conveyor mechanism consisting of a table 41 with a base plate 311, with bent sides 312, to which two arms 313 are attached, which rollers 314 wear, which are guided in guide channels 305 on the plates 301 and 302. As a result, the table is mounted so that it can move vertically between the frame plates.
The table is supported by two cables 315. Each of the cables is attached at one end to an angle plate 316, which is riveted to the bent side of the table, and connected to a belt pulley 317 at its other end. The pulleys 317 sit on a shaft 318 on opposite sides of the table within the plates 301 and 302. The shaft 318, mounted in bearings in the plates 301 and 302, is driven to drive the table by means of a Drive wheel 321 to raise or lower. A retaining arm 322, attached to the shaft 318, projects radially outwardly from the shaft and engages a rod 307. As a result, a Dre hung of the pulley is limited to less than two revolutions.
The drive wheel 321 at the end of the shaft 318 facing the senplatte 'engages in a worm gear 323 on the shaft 324, which is mounted in bearings in side supports 303 and 304 of the plate 302. A hand wheel 325 is attached to the rear end of the shaft 324 wärtigen. At the other end, the shaft carries a ratchet wheel 326. This ratchet wheel 326 is used to periodically lift the table as a function of the position of the upper band of the pile of paper on the table.
In order to align trainees the leading edge of the paper stack accordingly of the paper feed on the paper table, there are vertically protruding edge guides 331 on the opposite side of the table, the lugs 332 are provided on their uppermost part with inwardly. At the opposite end, the side part of each edge guide runs into an arm with an opening in which the lower right support rod 307 can slide. Between the ends, each edge guide is fastened to a bearing block 333 which is slidably mounted on another fastening rod 307. With this arrangement, the edge guides can be moved so that they are able to compensate for varying widths or lengths of the paper.
In the illustrated xerographic reproduction device, the paper is fed since downwards in order to optimally zen the surface of the xerographic drum during the transfer.
The rear edge of the stack of paper on the table is aligned with the aid of paper holders 334 which are arranged to lightly touch the leading edge of the stack to keep the paper in contact with the edge guides 331. The paper holders are adjustably attached to blocks 335 via screws 336. The blocks 335 are attached to a rod 337 carried by one end of the arms 338 and 339. The opposite ends of these arms are pivotably mounted on stub shafts 341 and 342 which are mounted in plates 301 and 302, respectively.
The holding devices remain in contact with the rear edge of the paper stack with the aid of a cam 343 on the lever 344. The lever 344 in the form of a leaf spring is attached to one end of the outer side of the plate 301. A handle 346 is located at the free end of this leaf spring and forms the lever. The cam 343 on the free part of the leaf spring extends through an opening in the plate 301 and contacts the arm 338 which carries the rod 337 with the holding devices 334. The sharp drop in cam 343 causes it to engage the arm when the retainers are in the operative position.
When flexing the leaf spring to the right, as shown in Fig. 6, the cam is released from the arm and the whole assembly can be rotated to bring the holding devices out of engagement with the rear edge of the paper stack.
The paper separating mechanism for separating the top sheet from the stack of paper has a number of suction feet 351, three of which are shown. These are intended to lift the top sheet by suction and to feed this sheet to the engagement of the feed rollers 391 and 392.
Each suction cup 351 consists of a tube that is connected at one end to a further tube 352, which in turn is fastened in pivotable arms 352 and 354 at its opposite ends. One end of the tube 352 is sealed, for example by a plug 355, the other end of the tube 352 is provided with an elbow 356 and a flexible line 357 to the inlet of a vacuum pump driven by the motor MOT-7, which is not shown connected. A limiting valve is provided to limit the suction pressure.
A cam follower arm 361 with a cam follower 362 is also located on the tube 352 near the knee. The opposite ends of the pivot arms 353 and 354 are fastened to the rocker shaft 363 BE, which is mounted in the plates 301 and 302.
As can be seen from FIG. 3, one end of the lever 364 is attached to the rocking shaft 363 in order to impart a reciprocating movement to it. The movement of the rocking shaft in a clockwise direction, see FIG. 2, can be regulated via an adjusting screw 365 which is screwed through the carrier 366 and is in a handle with the radial holding device 367 on the rocking shaft.
The reciprocation of the shaft 363 causes the outer ends of the pivot arms 353 and 354, which hold the tube 352, to move in an arc. While this occurs, the cam follower 362 on the cam follower arm 361 is held by the spring 368 in engagement with the cam plate 371 on the plate 301, see FIGS. 5 and 6. The spring 368 is at its ends on pins 369 BEFE stigt which protrude from the pivot arm 354 and from the cam follower arm.
According to FIG. 5, the cam plate or guide plate 371 has an approximately vertically extending guide surface and a horizontal guide surface, so that when the rocking shaft 363 moves clockwise, the lower ends of the suction cups move out of their position of contact with the Move the top sheet up when the cam follower plate 371 extends along the horizontal guide surface of the cam.
The subsequent movement of the rocking shaft causes the suction feet to be rotated about the axis of the tube 352 in the direction of the feed rollers 391 and 392.
To put suction feet into operation, i. H. to cause them to tear off and advance a sheet in timing with the formation of an image on the xerographic drum and to activate the feed rollers 391 and 392, and also to cause the paper support to rise , the entire paper feed mechanism is driven via the hollow shaft 372 stored in the plates 301 and 302. The shaft 372 is connected to a motor MOT-5 via a chain belt 373 which engages in Ket ten wheels 374 and 375 on the hollow shaft 372 and on the shaft of the motor.
As shown in Figs. 2 and 7, the Ket tenrad 376 on the hub 347, which is connected to the end due to the outer plate or the right end of the hollow shaft 372, through the chain 378 to drive the gear 393, the is attached to the end of the feed roller 391 which is due to the outer plate. Both feed rollers 391 and 392 are mounted in the plates 301 and 302. The chain 378 goes up from the gear 376 and partially around an idle gear 379 and up around a driven gear 393 and then back to the gear 376.
A shaft 381 extending from opposite ends of the hollow shaft 372 is supported by bearings in the hollow shaft 372 and by a bearing 441 on the plate 302. At the left end, as shown in FIG. 16, shaft 381 is driven by shaft 372, designated generally by the reference numeral 380 through a one-turn clutch controlled by a solenoid SOL-1. A clutch hub 442 is located on the inner shaft 381 and a clutch spring 443 surrounds the shaft 372 and is adjacent to the clutch hub, one end of the clutch spring engaging a slot in the clutch hub.
On the circumference of the clutch hub, a holding part is also attached, which can come into engagement with a clutch holding lever 474, which is fastened by Schul terbolzen 445 in the plate 302. The clutch holding lever is biased in the normal position counterclockwise, as indicated in Fig. 5, and is in engagement with the clutch hub via the spring 446, which protrudes at one end with the pin 447 wel cher from the plate 302 inward and with its other end is fixed in an opening in the hitch holding lever.
The opposite end of the clutch spring has an outwardly protruding contact arm of such a length that it can be touched by the turned-out shoulder on the bottom of the clutch arm 451, whereby the clutch spring is wound up so that it only loosely encompasses the shaft 372 and comes out here the drive position comes out. The coupling arm 451 is mounted on a shoulder bolt 452 on the plate 302.
The coupling arm is normally biased clockwise by a spring 453 which is attached at one end to the pin 454 which protrudes inwardly from the plate 302 and at its other end around the outside in an opening in the coupling arm ge rotated shoulder of this part in relation to the contact arm of the clutch spring for the aforementioned purpose. A retaining pin 455 protrudes from the plate 302, and comes with the coupling arm in relationship to limit the clockwise verlau Fende movement of the contact arm.
The counterclockwise movement of the coupling arm is caused by the LOL-1 magnet. When the clutch arm is moved in this direction by pulling back the piston of the magnet, the twisted-out shoulder of the clutch arm is released from the clutch spring and allows the clutch spring to unwind and grip shaft 372 to rotate it.
At the same time, the drive arm 456, which is spot-welded to the coupling arm 451, engages the pin 457 which protrudes from the coupling holding lever 444 and causes this element to rotate clockwise out of engagement with the coupling hub this and the shaft 381 are rotated by the clutch spring.
The opposite end of the shaft 372 is connected to the shaft 381 by an overrunning clutch 457 which is pinned to the shaft 381 and axially held thereon by a sleeve 377. The outer part of the overrunning clutch 447 engages the inner part of the hub 347. This coupling arrangement prevents the shaft 381 from being rotated by the weight of the elements it drives.
An eccentric 382 connected to the outer end of the inner shaft 381 drives crank arms 383 and 384 which are pivotally connected to it. The crank arm 383 is connected by the pin 385 and one end of the lever 364 which, as already described, is connected at its other end to the rocking shaft 362 in order to put this shaft into operation. A control arm 386 is also pivotally mounted on the crank arm 383 and a trigger 387 is located on the crank arm between its two ends for a purpose to be described.
The operation of the feed mechanism, which is used to periodically raise the table, works so that the top sheets of the stack are carefully brought under the suction cups. This mechanism is controlled by a sensing device. This malfunction includes a bracket 401 which is pivotally mounted on the stub shafts 341 and 342, and usually by the spring 402, one end of which is attached to the bracket and the other end to the pin 403 on the plate 302, so is tensioned so that it touches the top sheet of the stack.
When the crank arm 383 is actuated and causes a movement of the suction feet 351, then the actuating arm 387 is raised and strikes the pin 404 on the rule 405 on the left end of the iron 401 (Fig. 6), whereby the bracket of the Paper lifts as long as the feed movement continues. Further actuation of the crank arm 383 pulls the actuation arm 387 downward and the bracket falls down onto the top sheet. As soon as a sufficient number of sheets have been removed from the stack so that the height of the top sheet is below a predetermined height, the bracket is no longer stopped by this sheet if it falls down in the direction of the top sheet.
Rather, the egg falls down so far that the control pin 406 on the rule 405 can touch the adjusting screw 388 on one end of the control arm 386. As a result, the control arm 386, which is normally biased clockwise by the torsion spring 415, is now rotated counterclockwise, whereby the other end of the control arm 386 is guided by the adjusting screw 388 away from the cam surface of the crankshaft 411.
The crank arm 384 is also driven by the eccentric 382. At one end it has an outwardly rotated part on which an actuating pin 389 is attached. This crank arm also has an elongated slot 394, which from the release pin 407 of the block 408, which is attached to the crank arm 411, which in turn is pivotally seated on the shaft 394, can receive.
While the eccentric 382 is rotated with each revolution of the shaft 381, which is driven via the one-revolution clutch as previously described, the release pin 407 slides in the elongated slot 394 of the crank arm 384 while it is raised or lowered, since this release is set by the cam shape of the crank arm 411 contacting the end of the control arm 386 so that it is out of contact with the ends of the slot 394. The crank arm 411 is normally biased by the spring 412, whereby the cam lobe of the crank arm comes into a grip position with the end of the control arm 386 (Fig. 7).
In order to prevent the end of the control arm 386 from bending, the upper end of this control arm is held in a groove of a retaining ring 413 on a holder 414 in the plate 302. As already described, the control arm 386 is normally tensioned by the torsion spring 415 in the clockwise direction, see FIG. 7, so that the crank arm 411 comes into engagement with the cam elevation.
The crank arm 411 has a pivotable pawl 416 for engaging a pawl 326, which pawl is normally held in this position by the spring 417.
In the position in which the crank arm 384 has been rotated counterclockwise as a result of the drop in the height of the paper stack, this movement causes the crank arm to disengage from the cam part of the crank arm 411, which is then due to the spring tension 412 rotates and brings the trip pin 407 into driving connection with the lower end of the slot 394 in the crank arm 384.
When the trip pin 407 is operated by the crank arm, then the crank arm is rotated clockwise and causes the pawl 416 to engage a tooth of the ratchet wheel 326 and advance it by one step, thereby rotating the shaft 324 with a worm gear, which engages the drive wheel 321 and raises the table by the mechanism previously described. Another rotation of the crank arm 411 causes its cam to come out of engagement with the control arm 386.
In order to lower the paper table 310 by hand using the hand wheel 325, the claw 416 must be released from the ratchet wheel 326. This is effected by a lever 421 which is pivotably connected to the lever holder 419 on the plate 302 via the pivot lever 418.
The stop pin 426 protrudes from the lower end of the lever and serves to stop the pawl 416 when the lever is rotated clockwise, see Fig. 7, by the knob 422 attached to the opposite end of the lever. When the lever is rotated, the striker 426 engages in the claw 416 and drives it against the retaining pin 489 on the crank arm 444. The lever 421 is normally tensioned counterclockwise to the striker 426 outside the claw 416 above the one with tig attached spring 425 to hold. The spring 425 is attached at one end to the pin 423 in the lever bracket 419 and at the other end to the pin 424 on the lever 421.
In connection with the separation of the individual sheets of paper from the stack, the following should also be mentioned: The pressure side of the vacuum pump is connected via lines 431 to lines 432, which are arranged at opposite ends near the leading edges of the paper stack. Openings 433 in the ducts direct a stream of air under pressure against the sides of the topmost sheets of the stack, separating these sheets from one another and preparing them for removal by the suction cups.
The paper conveyed by the feed rollers 391 and 392 is moved onto the paper transport 44 for further movement to the xerographic drum 320 by the paper guides 395 located between the plates 301 and 302.
