L'invention a pour but d'éliminer cet inconvénient.
Prismatic device for a rangefinder focusing device The subject of the invention is a prismatic device for a rangefinder focusing device.
In order to achieve focusing in photographic or cinema cameras, it is known practice to take a small fraction of the light from the beam forming the image, and to form an image in a viewfinder. This secondary image is placed at the location of a separator device constituted for example by a small cylinder, two prisms placed in opposite directions, a plate bearing parallel stripes, or more simply a biprism.
All these devices located at the location of the image are examined by an eyepiece which inevitably magnifies all their defects and in particular the dust which is deposited on small parts.
The object of the invention is to eliminate this drawback. It relates to a prismatic device for a rangefinder focusing device comprising a member for taking light from the beam forming the image on the film, this prismatic device having the shape of a prism, the edge of which is placed in the area where the image is formed to be observed by a sighting eyepiece. This device is characterized by the fact that it consists of a main prism and two secondary prisms of the same index, contiguous to the main prism, the total of the angles of the three prisms being equal to 360, and the whole constituting a blade with parallel faces perpendicular to the optical axis of the eyepiece.
A particular embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention is set out below, by way of example, with reference to the appended drawing, in which FIG. 1 is a general view of a rangefinder focusing device, equipped with this form of embodiment.
Fig. 2 shows said embodiment on a larger scale. The rangefinder focusing apparatus shown in FIG. 1 is coupled to a camera comprising a main optic 1 and 2 forming the image on the film 3.
On the path of the rays intended to form the image on the film is placed a light sampling device consisting, for example, of a semi-reflecting face 4 or of two small areas arranged on a face oriented at 45 with respect to the film. optical axis of the objective. The light collecting member therefore returns the collected beam at 45 from the optical axis of the objective. This beam can be returned parallel to the optical axis by a total reflection system such as the prism 5 shown in the drawings. The viewfinder may include an objective 6 located after the return prism 5.
This objective 6 can moreover be placed in another place, for example before the prism 5 or even before the light collecting member 4.
The objective of the viewfinder forms an image in a plane 7. In this plane is disposed the active edge of the embodiment of the prismatic device according to the invention. The image is finally observed by the eyepiece 8 of the viewfinder.
When the image is formed exactly on the edge 9 of the prism 10, this observed image is not distorted, but on the other hand if the edge 9 is not exactly in the plane 7 of the image, the image observed appears cut into two parts offset from one another.
If the prism 10 were alone, dust could stick to the edge 9, hampering the observation of the image, especially since this observation is made by the eyepiece which magnifies the dust.
The prismatic device comprises the main prism 10, and two other prisms, constituting secondary prisms 11 and 12 and completing the main prism 10 to produce a plate with parallel faces.
In the example shown in the drawings, the main prism 10 has an apex angle of 1200; prism 11 has a vertex angle of 600, and prism 12 has a vertex angle of 1800.
The prisms 11 and 12 have the same optical characteristics with regard to their refractive index and their dispersion coefficient. These secondary prisms 11 and 12 completely protect not only the edge 9 of the prism 10, but also the faces of this prism against any arrival of dust, the index of the prism 10 is different from the index common to the prisms 11 and 12.
A particularly interesting arrangement is that for which the refractive index of the prism 10 is lower than the refractive index of the two prisms 11 and 12. A prismatic device is thus obtained which is equivalent to a hollow prism. Such a hollow prism would moreover not be possible to obtain without using the characteristics described above. This hollow prism has an important advantage. Indeed, if we consider the half-field observed by the eyepiece 8 located above the edge 9 in the zone 13, this half-field corresponds in the medium which precedes the sampling member 4, to an angle 14 entirely included within the beam coming from the main optics 1 for taking pictures.
The same is true for zone 15 of the image located under edge 9, this zone corresponds to an angle 16 also completely located inside the beam coming from the main optic 1.
There is therefore no risk of losing light in the rangefinder focusing device in the event that a diaphragm exists in the main optic 1. Indeed, if the angles 14 and 16 come out of the beam coming from this optic, any aperture in optic 1 would reduce the amount of light sent through the rangefinder to make up the image in plane 7.
On the other hand, it is possible to choose the dispersion coefficient of the prism 10 less than the dispersion coefficient of the prisms 11 and 12 and thus avoid chroma to the image.
By way of example, one can choose for the prism 10 the refractive index na = 1.52800, and the dispersion coefficient v = 52. For the prisms 11 and 12 one can take na = 1.69650, and the dispersion coefficient v. = 56.
Other embodiments are possible. For example, the angles at the top of prisms 10 and 11 could be different from 1201, and 600. Prism 12 preferably has a flat angle for ease of manufacture.
