Device for lighting and monitoring gas-heated devices The invention relates to a device for lighting and monitoring gas-heated devices, which has a pilot burner with a mixing tube and a thermocouple connected to a thermoelectric ignition safety device in the area of this pilot burner.
Devices of this type are already known; in addition to the pilot burner and the thermocouple, an electric igniter, for example a spark plug, is usually arranged with which the flame on the pilot burner is ignited.
The thermocouple arranged in the area of the pilot burner must be exposed to the heat developed by the flame of the pilot burner, since in the event of an undesired failure of the pilot flame the ignition safety device should be activated as quickly as possible, in order to either block the gas supply to the pilot burner or to keep the igniter active put. The greatest sensitivity of the thermocouple would be achieved if the thermocouple protruded into the pilot burner flame. Such an obstacle in the pilot burner flame could, however, disrupt the function of the pilot burner, namely the reliable ignition of a gas burner.
It is also already known to provide an annular chamber open to the combustion chamber around the flame opening of a burner, which is supplied with a gas-air mixture via lateral channels from the mixing chamber of the burner so that a weak ring of flames is created in the annular gap. This so-called holding flame ensures that the burner is ignited again at the burner opening even after the flame flashes back into the burner.
Furthermore, a thermocouple consisting of two tube parts is known, which is also designed as a pilot burner. An inner tube is provided as a mixing tube, which has an outlet opening for the pilot flame on its head. An outer tube with an end that is open in a cup-like manner below the head of the inner pipe is connected to the inner pipe at the base of the cup by a soldered point. In the edge area of the cup, outlet openings for heating flames for heating the thermocouple are formed on the circumference of the inner tube.
Reliable heating of this thermocouple is not guaranteed in every case when using gases with low ignition properties.
According to the present invention, a high sensitivity of the thermoelectric ignition safety device is achieved in a gas ignition burner with a mixing tube, avoiding the disadvantage mentioned above, in that the mixing tube of the ignition burner is surrounded at its burner opening by an annular chamber open to the combustion chamber is connected to the mixing pipe via throttle bores arranged on the circumference of the mixing pipe,
that the mixing tube and the annular chamber are each provided at the same height with an opening laterally directed towards the thermocouple to form a heating flame and that the two openings in the mixing tube and in the annular chamber are larger than the openings formed by the throttle bores between the mixing tube and the annular chamber , wherein the opening in the annular chamber is open at the top and has a larger diameter than the opening in the mixing tube.
In this way, intensive heating of the thermocouples during operation of the pilot burner is ensured without the thermocouple protruding into the actual pilot flame and thereby interfering with the function of the pilot burner. Furthermore, the formation of a weak ring of holding flame is not influenced by the side flame for heating the thermocouple.
A pilot burner that can be used for all types of gas is therefore created which, together with the thermocouple, forms a structural unit with little space requirement, which is expediently completed by a common support plate for the pilot burner and the thermocouple, so that the individual

NEN organs of the device are secured in their relative position.
All details can be found in the following description in conjunction with the drawing, on which an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in section. In detail: FIG. 1 shows a vertical longitudinal section through the device for lighting and monitoring, FIG. 2 shows a partial section along the line II-II in FIG. 1.
The device shown in Fig. 1 consists of the pilot burner, generally designated by the reference number 1, and the thermocouple 2 with its sensor 2a. Both devices are fastened in tubular holders 3 and 4 which are arranged in a common flange plate 5. The thermocouple 2 is held in the holder 3 by means of the connection screw 6.
In the tubular holder 4 for the pilot burner, the pipe connection screw 7 is arranged in its lower part, with which on the one hand a tube (not shown) for the ignition gas supply and on the other hand a sealing cone part 8 are attached, with the aid of which a cup-shaped nozzle body 9 with the The nozzle opening 10 is clamped in the holder 4 in the desired position. In the holder 4, in the region of the nozzle opening 10, lateral openings 11 are also provided for sucking in combustion air.
The upper part of the tubular holder 4 in the drawing thus already forms the mixing chamber of the burner, which is continued in the mixing tube 12 pushed into the holder 4 from above, which is bent at its upper end towards the edge of the burner opening 13 and thus narrowed.
A pipe section 14 is pressed over the upper part of the mixing tube 12, the enlarged upper part 14a of which forms an annular chamber 15 with the wall of the mixing tube 12, which is open upwards via the annular gap 16 running concentrically to the burner opening 13.
In the area of the annular chamber 15, the mixing tube 12 is provided with throttle bores 17 evenly distributed over its circumference, through which the gas mixture from the mixing tube 12 enters the annular chamber 15 as a result of the constriction of the tube cross-section in the area of the burner opening 13, so that in the annular gap 16 can form a relatively weak ring of flames which, in a manner known per se, ensures a renewed ignition of the burner and thus the retention of the pilot burner even after the flame has flashed back into the pilot burner.
In the widened part 14a of the tube section 14 pushed onto the burner and forming the outer wall of the annular chamber 15, an opening 18, which is open upwards towards the combustion chamber, is attached at the point opposite the sensor 2a of the thermocouple 2. In the same direction as this opening there is an opening 19 in the mixing tube 12, which is larger than the throttle bores 17 in the mixing tube 12, which establish a connection to the annular chamber 15. In addition, the opening 18 in the pipe section 14a is kept somewhat larger than the associated opening 19 in the mixing pipe 12.
By appropriately dimensioning these openings 18 and 19, a flame 20 directed laterally towards sensor 2a of thermocouple 2 and shown in the drawing with dashed lines can be achieved, the tip of which flame core 21 is also drawn in dashed lines and exactly touches sensor 2a . The dimensions are of course based on the distance between the thermocouple 2 and the pilot burner 1 and on the dimensions of the burner opening 13 for the pilot flame and the size of the annular chamber 15.
Favorable results have been achieved, for example, with a ratio of the areas of the burner opening 13 for the pilot flame to the opening 19 for the heating flame 20 of 3 to 4: 1, the area ratio of the burner opening 13 for the pilot flame to the throttle bores 17 opening into the annular chamber 15 can be about 2: 1.
Due to the cross-sectional narrowing of the mixing tube 12 in the area of the burner opening 13, the gas-air mixture quantity required for the formation of the heating flame 20, as well as for the formation of the retaining flame ring in the annular gap 16, is passed through the openings 19 or 17 through the annular chamber 15 or promoted into the annular chamber 15. The heating flame 20 can be achieved without influencing the retaining flame ring in the annular gap 16.
When the pilot burner is ignited by means of a vorzubsweis2 electrical igniter, not shown in the drawing, the lateral heating flame 20 is also ignited in the opening 18 which is open at the top. The side flame is retained in essentially the same way as the retaining flame ring in the annular gap 16 even in the event of a brief flashback of the pilot flame into the pilot burner tube 12. The heating flame 20 only goes out when the pilot flame above the burner opening 13 also goes out completely, that is, when the gas burner is not reignited in an undesirable manner or the gas supply to the pilot burner is disrupted or blocked.
In the absence of the heating flame 20, the thermocouple 2 and thus the ignition safety device connected to it reacts much more quickly than if the thermocouple were arranged outside a direct flame area.
