Machine for the packaging of processed cheese
The main patent relates to a machine for packaging processed cheese in various forms of presentation, such as slices, portions and cocktail cubes, this machine comprising two parallel lines of rotating barrels, respectively working and transferring, likewise pitch diameter for each line and at work and transfer stations arranged in a star shape and carrying removable dies for packaging the cheese, an endless chain picking up the dies from the finished product discharge station to bring them to the starting station packaging, these barrels being distributed over juxtaposed frames each corresponding to one of the operations of packaging the processed cheese,
each frame comprising a working barrel and a transfer barrel with their controls and upstream and downstream control sockets, the barrel controls and the endless chain being driven by a single motor, the output frame not having a working barrel , the pitch diameters of the barrels, the number of their stations and their order being determined to obtain a displacement of the dies at a rigorously uniform tangential speed with respect to their pitch circles.
In the embodiment described in this patent, the dies are formed by independent parts provided with shanks penetrating into semicircular notches made at the periphery of the barrels, the dies of the dies arranged on the same barrel being held by a fixed guide in arc. This embodiment does not make it possible to ensure that the dies are always present in the desired position under the operating devices associated with each working barrel.
To remedy this drawback, the machine according to the present invention is characterized in that the dies are mounted in a determined position at the points of articulation of the links of the endless chain, the pitch of which is equal to the peripheral distance between the stations of the barrels. work and transfer, the chain winding successively around these various barrels and ensuring by itself the drive of the machines from the discharge station of the finished product to the start of packaging station.
This ensures that the dies occupy a precise position at each station of the working barrels.
In addition, a simplification of the machine is obtained by eliminating the endless chain which took up the dies at the finished product discharge station to bring them to the packaging start station.
The following description indicates, by way of example and with reference to the appended drawing, an embodiment of the machine forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view partially cut away and partially sectioned along line I-I of FIG. 2 of a die transfer chain.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the chain portion illustrated in FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a schematic plan view of the machine.
In the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, representing without limitation a transfer chain for packaging in cocktail cubes, the dies 1 are made up of hollow pieces with internal housing 2 with a square section, the sides of which are equal to those of the cocktail cube at achieve. These square-section housings open out at the base of the dies into openings with an octagonal section leaving internal bearing faces 3 for the blank to form the bottom. These dies are mounted in removable bushings 4 forming articulation axes of an endless chain 5 with upper 6 and lower 6a hollow links, of pitch equal to the peripheral distance between the stations of the working and transfer barrels. the machine it has to equip.
On both upper hollow links 6 are mounted indexing devices 7 fixed to them by hollow rivets 8, some of them 7a being removable and fixed by pins 9 with removable elastic rings 10.
The indexers 7 and 7a have a trapezoidal shape and each ensure the positioning of two successive dies l, by supporting a truncation 11 of the rest flange 12 of these dies on the non-parallel faces of these trapezoids, the inclination of which is determined from so as to ensure that at any work station of one of the work barrels of the machine each die 1 is in an immutable position with respect to the operating device with which this work station is equipped.
With this embodiment, it is possible to switch from one packaging to another requiring a different number of elementary frames either by increasing or decreasing the number of links in the transfer chain of the dies, or by eliminating one out of two dies, the matrices no longer having the shape of those of FIGS. 1 and 2, but the shape corresponding to this other packaging, but still being centered by any known means, a tail for example, in the removable sleeves 4.
Fig. 3 shows a machine for packaging processed cheese in cocktail cubes similar to that of FIG. 6 of the main patent; this machine comprises a machine start element 13 in which is fixed the general drive motor and on which the manual control 14 is mounted. This element 13 is equipped with a spool 15a carrying an aluminum strip 16 previously punched in no blanks to be cut and provided with a tear strip in its middle part, this aluminum strip bearing on its internal face a series of impressions and being coated on its external face with a heat-sealable lacquer. A second coil 15b carried by this element 13 is lined with an aluminum strip 18 previously punched at the pitch of the blanks to be cut and provided on its internal face with a lacquered cheese coating.
Following the element 13, the machine comprises a series of similar elementary frames 19a to 19f each provided with a transfer barrel 20a to 20f and a working barrel 21a to 21f. On the elementary frame 19a are performed the welding of the strips 16 and 18 by a device 22, the cutting of the blanks in the unitary strip obtained and the preforming of these blanks in the dies by a piston device controlled by cam. These various known devices are not described for the sake of simplicity. The frame 19b is used for dosing and pouring the melted cheese into the preformed blank. On the frame i 9c is carried out, under the action of the heat of the processed cheese, the welding of two strips 16a and 18a, of the same nature as the strips 16 and 18 coming from two coils 15c and 15d carried by the elementary frame 19d .
These strips are further cut on the working barrel 21c and the flanks obtained which are to form the lids are arranged by any known means on the mass of processed cheese poured into the blank preformed to the elementary frame 19b.
At the elementary frames 19d and 19e are respectively made the folds of the preformed blank on the cover. Finally, on the frame 19f, the finished cocktail cubes are extracted from the dies and placed on a conveyor belt 23 leading them to grouping, visual inspection, weighing and canning. The matrix transfer chain, freed from cocktail cubes, passes over a 20g transfer barrel carried by the end-of-machine element 24 which transfers it to a chain barrel 25a carried by this elementary frame 24, hence the chain returns to a chain barrel 25b carried by the elementary frame 19a from which the chain is taken up by the transfer barrel 20a for introducing the machine.
In this embodiment, the transfer chain ensures the transport of the dies from the finished product discharge station to the machine introduction station, without it being necessary to use an endless chain as in the case of the machines of fig. 5 and 6 of the main patent. The constitutions of the various barrels and their drives are produced by means similar to those described in the main patent.
