PATENTANSPRUC : HE
Process for the production of sets or hand mirrors
The invention relates to a method for producing adjustable or hand mirrors, the mount of which consists of a thermoplastic material. A method of this type is known in which the frame around the mirror glass is injected with polystyrene in a corresponding machine. With this procedure, each mirror in the relevant machine must be individually! The mirror glass has to be fed to the machine and held in the machine.
Here, care must be taken to ensure that the mirror glass is not damaged. The manufacture of such mirrors is cumbersome and time consuming. Since between the frame and the mirror glass intermediate layers, for. B. made of cardboard, can not be inserted, this mirror rattles uncomfortably loud when placed on a surface. In addition, this mirror can break easily.
In another known method, the mirror mount is made from two parts made of thermoplastic material, which are glued together after the mirror glass has been inserted. This production is also laborious and expensive because the two socket parts must be produced separately in two different expensive forms.
Furthermore, a method is known in which the frame is made from two celluloid parts. One part is plate-shaped and forms the rear wall of the mirror, while the other part is designed like a frame and flanged on both sides.
This known mirror has the disadvantage that over time the two frame parts do not hold together with sufficient security, so that they fall apart and the frame becomes worthless.
The invention is based on the object of improving the known methods and of developing them in such a way that the frame has great stability and a long service life, the mirror glass is protected during manufacture and in use, and simple mass production is achieved. This object is achieved according to the invention in that a cup-shaped socket is produced from a thermoplastic plastic film by thermoforming using a vacuum, its edge is trimmed parallel to the bottom and, after inserting the mirror glass, flanged with an intermediate layer or on the inside with a circumferential vein or a frame is provided.
The cup-shaped design of the mount has the advantage that this mount is very stable and protects the mirror glass against damage. Even during production, the mirror glass is not stressed in a harmful way, but rather protected. In the method according to the invention there is also the possibility of placing an intermediate layer between the mirror glass and the bottom of the cup-shaped holder, e.g. B. made of cardboard, so that the mirror is protected against damage during use.
The method according to the invention will be explained, for example, with reference to the figures. Show it:
1 shows a perspective view of a plate provided with shaped bodies, over which a plastic film to be deformed is arranged,
FIG. 2 shows scrap through the plate according to FIG. 1 with already deformed plastic film,
3 shows the deformed film according to FIG. 2 resting on a flat base with a band saw cutting off the cup-shaped sockets,
4 shows a cup-shaped version according to FIG. 3 with a stand attached therein and mirror glass arranged above it,
5 shows the mirror according to FIG. 4 before and after the rim of the frame is flanged and
6 shows the mirror according to FIG. 4 with the frame glued to the inner edge of the frame.
In Fig. 1 shows a plate 1 on which a larger number of shaped bodies 2 are attached, which are used to shape individual cup-shaped mirror mounts. Above the molded body 2 is a plastic film 3 made of a thermoplastic material, which is placed on the molded body 2 and drawn into the spaces 4 between the individual NEN molded bodies 2 by vacuum and is deformed under the action of heat. The vacuum can be applied to the channels 5 located between the molded bodies 2. Such channels can of course also be provided in the molded bodies 2. In order to achieve a full contact of the plastic film 3 on the molded bodies 2, the plastic film 3 can have an opening for the stand 7 in the area of the fastening plate 6 (FIG. 4).
Furthermore, a gap 1 ′ can be provided between the molded bodies 2 and the plate 1, through which the air is sucked off and the plastic film 3 is thus brought to lie snugly against the side walls of the molded bodies 2. To form the gap 1 'between the molded bodies 2 and the plate 1 spacers 2', for. B. made of cardboard, through which the fastening means for the molded body 2 can reach. The molded bodies 2 can be of different sizes.
After the plastic film 3 has been deformed according to FIG. 2, this plastic film 3 is placed on a horizontal table 8, and individual cup-shaped sockets 9 are sawn off from it by means of a band saw 10. Here, rollers 11, which engage in the interstices 4 'corresponding U-shaped recesses 12 of the film 3, press the plastic film 3 against the table 8. The rollers 11 are here in the area of the band saw 10, so that the sawed-off cup-shaped sockets 9 always have the same height.
Thereafter, as shown in FIG. 4, an intermediate layer 13, for. B. made of cardboard, and the plate 6 is pressed with the rear wall 14 of the cup-shaped socket 9 and the intermediate layer 13. A piece of cardboard can also be placed on the bends 15 of the fastening plate 6 in order to protect the mirror glass 16 located above it against damage by the bends 15. After this mirror glass 16 has been placed in the cup-shaped mount 9, the edge of the cup-shaped mount 9 is crimped by a crimping tool 17 as shown in FIG. The crimping tool 17 can, for. B. consist of a heated brass plate, which has a groove 18 on the underside, which consists of an obliquely downward and outward part 19 and an approximately semicircular part 20.
Part 19 causes the upper edge of the cup-shaped socket to be bent inwards and the semicircular part 20 causes this edge to curl in as shown in the right-hand part of FIG. 5.Instead of flanging the edge of the cup-shaped socket 9, the inner wall of this socket 9 a frame 21 made of a thermoplastic material can be glued, for example, has an approximately semicircular cross-section. Of course, there is also the possibility of gluing or welding in a corresponding wire of the same cross section instead of the frame 21.
The plastic film 3 can consist of polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene or celluloid. Great care must be taken when heating celluloid.
The plate 1 can be approximately 100 cm X 60 cm in size.
For the formation of the smallest version 9 z. B. 24 moldings 2 can be arranged on the plate 1.
The surface of the shaped body 2 can be patterned raised or deepened.
