Radiant burner This invention relates to a radiant burner in which gaseous fuel is burned on the surface of a sheet structure having passages in order to heat the latter to white embers.
It is known that under the same conditions, the speed and effectiveness of the combustion increase accordingly when the amount of air mixed with the gas reaches the maximum amount required for complete fuel combustion. This applies to natural gas, in which the ratio of air to gas should be approximately ten to one.
The purpose of the invention is to create a radiant burner in which the optimum gas-air mixture is always guaranteed in the company, even if the gas flows into the burner under low pressure.
It is also known that all other things being equal and with sufficient and constant heat supply per unit area, the radiant energy emitted increases with each increase in the radiant area and a flat wire mesh represents the smallest area within a given circumference, while a wire mesh repeatedly heated to incandescence after cooling is subject to extreme values of expansion, expansion and contraction, and that a flat wire mesh heated and cooled in this way is permanently deformed, especially if its edges are firmly clamped.
Another purpose of the invention is to provide a radiant burner which does not have these disadvantages.
The radiant burner is characterized by a casting, which encloses a cavity and has an opening formed therein on one side, wherein: the remaining surface of said casting side has an edge surrounding the opening, a venturi that is fluidly connected to the interior of the cavity is to feed gas and air into it, a first flat, the opening covering, perforated part, a second flexible, perforated,
combustion maintaining part having a central portion which lies over the opening and the corresponding portion of the first part, the central portion having a number of parallel, wave-shaped, the opening overlapping formations, and means for releasably clamping the perforated. Share with their circumference on the edge.
In the accompanying drawing an example embodiment of the subject invention is shown. 1 shows a diagrammatic view, viewed from below, of a radiant burner according to the invention, the position of the burner being shown which it assumes when it is used in the roasting tube of a cooking range.
Fig.2 one, of. seen below, diagrammatic, exploded view showing the individual parts from which the burner according to Fig. 1 is gebil det, Fig. 3 is an exploded longitudinal sectional view along the line 3-3 in Fig. 1 to better show NEN, how the parts of Fig. 2 are assembled, Fig. 4 is a front view of a roasting tube,
which is provided with a radiant burner according to the invention, and FIG. 5 shows a side view of the burner looking in the direction of the line 5-5 of FIG. 4.
A radiation burner according to the invention has a burner head formed by a casting 10, which encloses a cavity 12, and a mixing chamber 14, the inner end 16 of which leads to the burner cavity 12, while its outer end 17 can receive gas from a line 18 and with the atmosphere is connected.
The mixing chamber can be designed as usual, but in order to achieve more efficient and faster combustion an ample supply of primary combustion air is required "which should be natural gas in the range of approximately ten parts air to one part gas. If the end 17 of the mixing chamber is cylindrical is formed, then the amount of air which is entrained by the gas flowing out of line 18 does not reach the required volume, especially at low gas pressure.
To ensure a sufficient supply of combustion air, the mixing chamber is designed like an oversized Venturi tube and its outer end 17 is bell-shaped and has a larger diameter than the remaining part of the Venturi tube, as can be seen in FIG.
With this arrangement, a sufficient amount of combustion air from the vicinity of the outer end 17 of the Venturi tube is carried along by the gas, even if the latter is supplied under relatively low pressure.
Laboratory tests have shown that the air inlet end 17 of a Venturi tube that supplies a radiation burner with an output of 3000 kcal should be approximately twice as large as the air inlet end of a Venturi tube that supplies a burner with a conventional opening, as can be found at the top of a cooker and has the same heat output.
In order to prevent excessive pressure of the combustion mixture in the middle of the cavity, a baffle 20 with an opening 22 is arranged between the inlet end 16 of the mixing chamber and the opposite wall 24 of the combustion chamber, as can best be seen in FIG.
The radiant burner also has an inner perforated part, such as a fine-meshed wire mesh 26, also an outer, flexible, fine-meshed wire mesh 28, and an intermediate, coarse-meshed wire mesh or another relatively inflexible, perforated part 30. The flow capacity the elements 26 and 28 should correspond to those of a wire network of 8 meshes per 5 mm, while the flow capacity of the intermediate part 30 should be equal to the capacity of a wire network of 8 meshes. The ele ments 26, 28 and 30 are joined together in their respective positions as shown in FIGS.
The wire meshes together can be attached to the edge 32 of the burner casting by means of screws or the like, which pass through openings 34 in a mounting frame 36 and through: similar openings in a seal, not shown, to come into engagement with screw openings 38 in the edge of the burner chamber . In such a loading, the outer edges of the parts 26, 28 and 30 are clamped together in a leak-proof manner between: the fastening frame 36 and the edge 32.
The outer wire mesh 28 is repeatedly heated to incandescent heat and cooled, which means that it must expand considerably and contract again. When the network 28 is flat and. its edges are clamped, then the expansion and contraction to which the net is subjected causes a permanent deformation: the wire net. On the other hand, if the edges of the wire mesh 28 are loosely pinched to allow expansion and contraction, ignited gases will seep around the perimeter of the wire mesh, causing explosions.
In order to allow clamping of the edges of the wire nets and at the same time to protect against permanent deformation, the outer wire netting 28 is given a wave shape so that depressions 44 and elevations 46 result, as FIG. 3 shows. The corrugated formations 44, 46 enable the network 28 to expand and contract again without permanent deformation. Through these wellenför shaped designs, the entire surface area of the network, and thus the total radiant energy emitted, is increased considerably.
Since the outer wire mesh 28 is heated and thereby expands to a much greater extent than the intermediate part 30, it must also move relative to the part 30 during its expansion and contraction. If the outer wire mesh 28 has total, or substantially total surface contact with the part 30 (or in the absence of the part 30, with the part 26), then its movement caused by expansion and contraction is inhibited, resulting in deformation or damage Consequence.
According to the drawing, the bulging parts of the elevations 46 have approximately line contact with the surface of the part lying immediately inward from the network 28, such as part 3-0 (or part 26). As a result, the possibility of movement of the outer wire mesh 28 is made much easier and the risk of damage is reduced.
The wire mesh in between, or the perforated part 30, is strong enough to provide the necessary strength and to have enough mass and surface area to absorb and distribute most of the inwardly radiated heat. Any remaining heat is absorbed or distributed by the internal, fine-meshed wire mesh 26, so that the temperature in the combustion chamber always remains below the flash point of the combustion mixture.
This radiant burner is particularly suitable for use in the roasting room of a gas-fired kitchen stove, or in a room radiator, but any other possible uses are also possible.
One advantage of this radiant burner is that the inflowing gas itself entrains the major part of the required primary combustion air and then flows in at a relatively low pressure, as is the case with natural gas, for example. Another advantage of this radiant burner is that the The radiation surface of the wire net is increased without increasing its circumference and that the radiation net is repeatedly heated to incandescence and removed without any permanent deformation. cool.
Another advantage of this radiant burner is that the contact points between the outer mesh and the inner perforated part is reduced to a minimum, so that a relative movement of the meshes can take place without damaging one of the same.
