Distribution box for an aqueous suspension of fibers The present invention relates to a distribution box for an aqueous suspension of fibers, in particular for paper pulp.
In industries which form slicks of matter starting from a liquid suspension, the homogeneous and uniform three-dimensional distribution of suspended solids is of paramount importance.
The formation of a sheet of paper poses this problem in a particularly difficult way because of the complex and heterogeneous composition of the pulp which is used to form it: multitude of fibers of very different characteristics, mineral fillers, glues, dyes and others. adjuvants, some of these constituents tending to segregation and leading to sedimentation phenomena, others relating on the contrary to flocculation and flotation.
The distribution of this mass, strongly diluted in water, is carried out in open or closed distribution boxes with permanent flow. On leaving one of these boxes, the aqueous suspension is therefore spread over the entire width of this box and deposited on a continuously unwinding fabric, slightly wider than this box. This web retains solid substances contained in the suspension and allows dilution water to flow through its mesh back to the dilution devices.
In the considerable variety of dispensing boxes that exist, a good distribution of the components of the liquid paste can be achieved, but this only in a relatively narrow range of flow rates. The aim of the present invention is precisely to extend this range while creating additional advantages and facilities for use.
The distribution box according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises means for adapting the internal static profile of the box to the hydrodynamic profiles developed by the aqueous suspension in its flow inside the box as a function of the ratios variable between the different inlet and outlet streams of the liquid. The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the distribution box forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of this body, partially in section.
Figs. 2 and 3 are cross sections of the body in two different operating positions.
The distribution box comprises a body 1 having a collecting channel 5 through which the aqueous suspension 2 to be kept homogeneous enters the body 1, where it is divided into two streams, one represented by the arrow 3 constituting the useful flow, and the other die signed by arrow 4 and constituting the adjustment flow.
The collecting channel 5, which can be constituted by a diffuser or by a battery of tubes, distributes the aqueous suspension in a homogeneous and uniform manner and ends in a turbulence chamber 6. A deflector 7 closes the upper part of this. turbulence chamber 6 and forms with the body 1 of the body an ejection section 8 and 9 for calibrating the flow of the aqueous suspension.
A retaining member 10, having an edge 11, forms a compartment 12 in the body 1, communicating with a recycling device (not shown) through an orifice 13.
The useful flow 3 leaves the box 1 through an adjustable lip slot 14 extending over the entire width of the box. The opening of this -slot determines the useful flow rate as a function, on the one hand, of the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid inside the body and whose level is shown at 15, and on the other hand, d 'a pressure exerted in the body 1 when it is closed. The useful flow 3 therefore pours over the entire width of the body onto a canvas 16 moving continuously.
This fabric 16 retains most of the solid substances, while the rest drains with the dilution water through the mesh of the fabric and is collected in a basin 17 to be returned to the mixing and dilution devices.
The recycling flow rate 4 consisting of the difference between the feed flow rate 2 and the useful flow rate 3, passes into the compartment 12 of the body 1 formed by the retaining member 10 and leaves it through the orifice 13 to join the drainage water in the basin 17. The liquid level 15 is normally kept constant by means of an automatic regulator (not shown) acting either on the feed flow rate 2 or on the recycling flow rate 4.
By modifying the ejection profile 8, 9 of the total flow as a function of a variation of this total flow or of the proportion of the two outgoing streams, the flow and the distribution of the aqueous suspension can be carried out in an ideal way. without causing disturbances such as stagnation, uncontrollable scattering, vein detachment, sedimentation, flocculation, etc.
What is possible in the vertical direction is also possible in the transverse direction thanks to the articulated deflector 7 which thus makes it possible to compensate for the flow irregularities of the collecting channel 5.
By modifying the position of the retaining member 10, that is to say by making it pivot around its articulation axis, its edge 11 can be directed and blocked in the zone of natural separation of the two projected currents, which virtually eliminates any rate limitation or rate reporting.
The optimum effect of this adjustment is obtained when the pivoting of the retaining member 10 or of the deflector 7 or of these two members is made automatic, for example, by slaving to the regulator of the liquid level in the body, the movements of this regulator acting on the variations of the flows to be distributed.
Fig. 2 illustrates the case of a flow profile ratio such as it occurs when the recycling flow rate 4 is significantly greater than the useful flow rate 3.
Lowering the deflector 7 of the swirl chamber 6 drives most of the initial flow 2 towards compartment 12 but the simultaneous lowering of the retaining member 10 prevents the disturbance of the currents which, in the absence of sections proportional offered to the passage of the aqueous suspension, would become uncontrollable.
Fig. 3 illustrates the opposite case of a very high useful flow 3 and low recycling 4. In this case the deflector 7 of the swirl chamber is pivoted upwards to increase the useful flow 3 and the retaining member 10 is rotated in the same direction to reduce the recycling section.
The fiz. 2 and 3 are not limiting because depending on the shape of the adaptation members and the position of their respective articulation axes. the adaptation movement of these organs may be different, or even reverse.
Alternatively, the floating retainer 10 could be mounted in such a way that it itself assumes the position which is suitable for the proportion of the two currents. As a result, it is possible to achieve the adaptation of the profiles by the single retaining member 10 according to its shape and the choice of its articulation axis, this in particular in the case of small variations in the distribution currents.
One could also obtain similar if not equivalent effects of -correction of the flow profiles ment by keeping the deflector 7 of the swirl chamber and / or the retaining member 10 fixed, but by modifying the shape, the position or the inclination. of the rear wall 18 of the body 1.
The described distribution box can be adapted, in service or at standstill, to extremely varied flow rates and characteristics of dough, ensuring in each individual case the proper flow conditions required to prevent segregation, flocculation, the formation of harmful deposits or currents.
In addition, the described distribution box lends itself particularly well to manufacturing processes with a constant feed rate, independent of production, compositions, dilutions and basis weight, replacing manual adaptations with increasingly essential automation, thanks to recycling. a fraction of the feed flow by means of a reverse re-rotating, with the water drained onto the canvas,
mixing and dilution devices. Now, it is precisely when it comes to distributing the two dough streams respectively towards use and towards recycling that the distribution box described proves its greatest utility.
On the other hand, these wide possibilities of adaptation to the infinitely variable hydrodynamic profiles of the operating regimes also allow a very advanced standardization of the distribution boxes in terms of their construction, that is to say the models and tools to be created and the methods and machining and assembly time, which will significantly lower the cost price.
Between different paper and cardboard machines to be fitted with such distribution boxes, the adaptation of the construction will be limited to that of the body of the box, caught between two flanges always identical and built in series, for a considerable difference. machine widths.
