Snow chain for pneumatic tires The present invention relates to a snow chain for pneumatic tires.
Currently, there are several types of snow chains. Non-elastic chains, that is to say chains not subject to extension under the effect of centrifugal force, are generally composed of two parallel longitudinal chain strands, one outside and the other inside relative to each other. to the wheel of the vehicle, of transverse chain portions, generally made up of a different type of links, connecting the two longitudinal chain strands according to a given design, with a hook fixed to one end of the inner strand,
as well as a tensioner fixed to one of the ends of the outer longitudinal strand.
These chains have a major drawback, namely the difficulty of fixing them: on the wheels when this operation must be done on the road, in snow, mud and cold.
The object of the invention is precisely @de to facilitate the fitting of snow chains on tires. The snow chain according to the invention also comprises two parallel strands connected by transverse strands.
It is characterized by the fact that one of the parallel strands is longer than the other, that one end of the same strand has a loop, the end adjacent to the other strand a tensioner, and its other end of a loop or a hook, the whole in such a way that the part protruding from the longest strand can, when fitting the chain on the wheel, be introduced first of all into the loop attached to the other end of the same strand, then in the loop or hook attached to the opposite end of the other parallel strand to then be hooked to the tensioner attached to, the end of the shorter strand adjacent to the first loop.
The appended drawing represents schematically, and by way of example, an embodiment of the snow chain which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a view of the stretched chain before assembly.
Fig. 2 shows this chain, placed on the wheel, seen from the outside, in the first phase of assembly.
The chain shown in the drawing comprises an outer strand 1 and an inner strand 2 longer than the strand 1. The strand 1 has at one of its ends a loop 5 and at the other a tensioner 6 of conventional construction. The strand 2 has at one of its ends a loop 4 at the same height as the tensioner 6. The strands 1 and 2 are connected by transverse chain elements 7 arranged in a zigzag fashion.
Part 3 of strand 2 is composed of two different types of links, one, a, @ of the same type as the transverse elements 7, the other, b, b ', of the same type as the longitudinal strands 1 and 2.
The location of the rings 4 and 5, as well as the length of the portion b, are chosen in such a way that the chain, once in place, has a pattern evenly distributed over the entire circumference of the tire. The tensioner 6 and the ring 5 exchange their position according to the drawing formed by the transverse elements 7, for example on a so-called ladder chain.
To fix the snow chain to the tire, place it on the wheel as shown in fig. 2. We, then launch part 3 towards the ring 4, then we pass this part 3 through the ring 4, we stretch, then we pass the part 3 through the ring 5, < / B> to finally hook the end of part b 'to the tensioner 6.
Such a chain can therefore be placed easily without moving the vehicle, and more quickly than conventional chains.
The invention is of course not limited to the embodiment shown in the drawing. In particular, the loops 4 and 5 can have a shape other than circular. The location of the loop 5 and of the tensioner 6 is of course dictated by the design of the chain. In addition, the number of loops can be more than two.
On the other hand, the outer loop 5 can be replaced by a hook.
