Description
Seal in roller vehicles The invention relates to a seal between a rotating roller and a stationary frame cheek in roller vehicles for soil compaction purposes. In such roller vehicles, a ring gear with internal teeth is often provided on the end face of the roller or drum, with which a toothed wheel mounted in the frame cheek of the roller frame engages.
The roller is driven via this gear wheel and this ring gear. The invention is based on the task of protecting these or similar drive parts from dirt and sealing.
For this purpose, it is provided according to the invention that a ring made of material with low friction is guided in an annular groove on the end face of the roller and is pressed against the frame cheek by pressure means. The ring can be made of soft gray cast iron, self-lubricating bronze or plastic, for example.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the figures and described below: FIG. 1 shows a section through a device according to the invention.
Fig. 2 and 3 show on an enlarged scale A details of the construction at different points on the circumference.
With 10 the bandage of a roller is referred to, which sits with a bearing plate 11 on a shaft 12. The shaft 12 is mounted cheek by means of a bearing 13 in a frame. On the bearing plate 11 sits a ring gear 15 with an internal toothing 16 via which the roller is driven in a manner not shown. In order to protect the drive elements from contamination, a seal is provided between the rotating roller and the stationary end shield 14.
For this purpose, an annular groove 17 is provided on the end face of the toothed ring 15. A ring 18 made of soft gray cast iron, self-lubricating bronze or plastic is guided in this groove so that it can move axially. This ring 18 is under the influence of springs 19 (Fig. 2), which are evenly distributed over its circumference,
on the cheek of the roller frame. In this way, the gap between the roller or ring gear 15 and the roller frame is sealed and dirt is prevented from entering.
So that the ring 18 runs cleanly with the roller, it is carried along at some points by driving pins 20, as shown in Fig. 3, but so that the axial contact on the cheek 14 is not adversely affected. The groove 17 can advantageously be filled with grease. This makes it easier for the sealing ring 18 to rest on the cheek 14 and also prevents water and fine dust from penetrating into the groove 17.
