Plug-in coupling for pipes The invention relates to a plug-in coupling for pipes, with a cuff housed in a ring, which is provided with a central stop rib for the end faces of the pipes to be coupled and on each side of the stop rib with sealing ribs.
In a known plug-in coupling of this type, the z. B. made of asbestos cement ring rigidly closed. A disadvantage of this coupling is that only well-calibrated pipes with very low tolerances can be coupled with it.
The invention avoids this disadvantage in that the ring consists of a metal band, the opposite ends of which are not firmly connected to the miteinan, but slidably overlap each other, and that organs are attached to these ends, with which on a clamp before existing counter-organs in Are engaged, wherein the clamping piece can be squeezed together by oppositely directed forces in order to pull together the metal ring and thus also the elastic cuff housed in it.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing. 1 shows a side view of a plug-in coupling for pipes before a clamp is squeezed together, FIG. 2 shows a section along line II-II of FIG. 1 and FIG. 3 shows a view of the clamp and the neighboring coupling parts after they have been squeezed together the clamp.
The plug-in coupling shown has a steel band 1 which is bent together to form a cylindrical ring, the opposing En the 2 and 3 of the steel band 1 are not firmly connected and in the position of FIG. 1 slightly overlap each other. Both circular edges of the steel band 1 are provided with inwardly directed flanges 4 and 5, which hold an elastic sleeve 6, which is inserted into the ring. On a small piece 7 of the steel band 1 near the end 3, the flanges 4 and 5 are missing, so that this end piece 7 can be pushed forward between the flanges 4 and 5 of the opposite end 2.
At the ends 2 and 3 two outwardly protruding guides 8 and 9 are provided, which consist of two steel strips with a U-shaped profile, wel che set back at the end 2 or by the end piece 7 with respect to the end 3, on the steel strip 1 are welded on.
A clamping piece 10 consists of a rectangular piece of sheet steel, the longitudinal edges of which are flanged to the Füh ments 8 and 9 matching counter guides 11 and 12 and whose profile is slightly convex to the outside. The length of the clamping piece 10 is equal to the width of the steel strip 1 or the length of the guides 8 and 9.
The elastic sleeve 6, which, for. B. consists of natural or synthetic rubber, has an inwardly directed, central annular rib 13 of right angular profile, the clear diameter of z. B. about 60 or 100 mm the inside diameter of the dash-dotted lines 14 and 15 speaks ent, which are to be coupled together ge by the plug-in coupling. On each side of the central ring rib 13 serving as a stop for the tubes 14 and 15, the collar 6 also has three inwardly directed ring ribs 16 of triangular profile, the inner diameter of which is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the tubes 14 and 15 to be coupled.
The plug-in coupling described can be easily plugged onto one of the tubes 14 and 15 after being coated with a lubricant in the state of FIGS. 1 and 2 and then the other tube can be inserted into the same, the edges of the ring rib 16 fold in the direction of the central stop rib 13 (not shown) while resting against the outer surface of the tubes 14 and 15. The resulting sealing is now significantly increased in that the clamping piece 10 is deformed by oppositely directed forces acting on the mating guides 11 and 12, as indicated by arrows 17 in FIG.
The clamping piece 10 is given a strong kink 18 so that the counter guides 11 and 12 or the guides 8 and 9 are brought very close to one another. The size of the overlap of the end 3 over the end piece 7 of the end 2 of the steel strip 1 increases, so that the diameter of the ring or sleeve 6 formed by the same increases. As a result, the pressure between the sealing ribs 16 and the tubes 14 and 15 is greatly increased and the seal is thus improved. Furthermore, this also greatly increases the stability of the mechanical connection of the pipes brought about by the coupling.
The main advantage of the plug-in coupling be, however, is that the sleeve 6, when the clamp 10 is squeezed together, adapts very well to the outer diameters of the tubes 14 and 15, so that even uncalibrated tubes are perfectly connected to one another. B. Asbestos cement pipes with a diameter tolerance of 2 now. Of course, smooth tubes made of any other material can also be coupled to one another with the present plug-in coupling.
The necessary to squeeze the clamp 10, opposing, strong forces are preferably exerted by means of a specially designed clamp, the jaws of which, for. B. purely mechanically, by levers and / or screws or the like, or by means of a small hy draulic press can be moved towards each other.
All steel parts of the plug-in coupling described are preferably made of stainless steel, in particular chrome-nickel steel. In principle, it would of course also be possible to manufacture these parts from another metal, if this should be desired for any reason.
