Process for the production of sheets or plates from thermoplastics with embedded reinforcement systems
The invention relates to a method for producing webs or plates of thermoplastics with embedded perforated reinforcing inserts, wherein the reinforcing insert and then a second partial plate is first applied to a partial plate produced using an extrusion press, and it consists in that the first partial plate Partial plate is kept at a significantly higher temperature than room temperature until the reinforcement inserts are placed and is covered with the second partial plate while it is still plastic,
whereupon both sub-panels are adhesively united with one another under continuously increasing pressure through the perforations in the reinforcement inserts.
The invention creates the prerequisite for the production of webs or plates in greater lengths than was previously possible, and also in an improved quality and consistency, as is particularly desirable for transparent plates. Instead of the usual use of presses with discontinuous operation, the partial plates can be subjected to a continuously progressing pressure action, for example in a calender and in a continuous process in any length with the reinforcing insert arranged between them.
In order to achieve a perfectly adhesive bond between the two part panels, a good surface finish and adequate temperature control are prerequisites. The best conditions are obtained if after the first partial plate has been produced, an intermittent cooling is avoided and a significantly higher temperature than room temperature is maintained until the reinforcement inserts are applied, for example by placing the partial plate as a roll in a heating cabinet. As a result of this measure, the surface activity, which experience has shown to decrease sharply with falling temperature, is retained. The effect can be supported by irradiating the plate surfaces at least for the duration of the application of pressure, preferably immediately in front of and behind the calender, with infrared heat radiators.
In the case of polyvinyl chloride in a soft setting, it is advisable to bind the partial plates to one another using the heat still resulting from the extrusion.
The invention is then explained using the drawing, for example. Show it:
Fig. 1 shows the production scheme of a plastic plate with reinforcement insert and
2 shows a section of a plate produced by the method according to the invention.
According to FIG. 1, an essential component of the manufacturing device is an extruder 1, which is designed, for example, as a screw press and is provided with a wide slot nozzle for pressing out the two plate plates 2, 3 over their entire width. The width of the slot nozzle is dimensioned in such a way that the sub-panels each have approximately half the thickness of the finished panel. A partial plate 2 is first produced in the intended length and rolled into a roll 4, which is placed in a heating cabinet (not shown in detail) or immediately afterwards held ready for further processing.
While the second sub-plate 3 emerges from the extruder 1 in the subsequent operation, the still plastic sub-plate 2 running off the roll 4 is covered with the reinforcement insert 5, which can be designed, for example, as a wide-meshed fabric or wire mesh, and in the further course of the process together with the Part plate. 3 fed to a calender 6. Under the pressure of the heated calender rollers, the adhesive union of the two sub-plates 2, 3 through the meshes and gaps of the enclosed Ver reinforcing insert 5 takes place with each other. In order to achieve favorable adhesion conditions, infrared radiators 7 are provided which, through intensive irradiation of the plate surfaces, cause thorough heating of the adhesive surfaces before entering the calender and after the finished plate has emerged.
The finished plate 8 is drawn off in the direction of the arrow by means of guide rollers 9 and, rolled or cut into pieces, can be used for its intended purpose.
In the illustrated embodiment according to FIG. 2, the plate 8 is made of a transparent polyvinyl chloride with an embedded wide-meshed wire mesh 5 as a reinforcement insert. According to the thickness dimensioning of the original part panels, the reinforcement insert is located in the middle level of the total layer thickness. Panels of this type are suitable, for example, as door leaves for swing doors in industrial plants.
Instead of a coherent braid or fabric, the reinforcing insert can also be in the form of unrelated individual fibers of limited length, as is desired, for example, for shoe sole plates for fixing and securing the seams.
In this case, the individual fibers are electrostatically applied in a manner known per se and aligned parallel to one another. In the basic procedure, nothing changes due to the different nature of the reinforcement inserts.
The materials used for the plates are primarily thermoplastic plastics, i.e. H. those naturally obtained or synthesized, mostly macromolecular substances and their conversion products that are not or only weakly crosslinked or cannot be crosslinked at all, so that they become more plastic with increasing temperature. This includes, for example, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene and the like. However, the invention can also be applied to a limited extent to elastomers and duromers.
