:Fernen .bezieht sich die Erfindung auf ein Ver fahren .zur Herstellung einer solchen Druckdecke. Beim Sieb- oder Filmdruck werden die zu druk- kenden Gegenstände von einer .Druckdecke getragen, welche die Form eines endlosen Bandes hat. Der Druck wird tauf ;
Die Teilungsbedingungen für den Filmdruck sind weniger streng .als diejenigen bei Gnavurendruckwal- zen beim Rotationsdruck von Textilien. ,Die Druck decke beim Sieb- Lund Filmdruck hat nicht die grosse von -drer Farbrolle ausgeübte zusammenpressende Kraft aufzunehmen wie beim Rotationsdruck; Die Arbeitsoberfläche hat somit nicht der wandernden Kompressionswälle zu widerstehen, welche entlang der Druckunterlage verläuft;
die beschichtete Basisschicht runter Bildung einer Schleife zwischen einem ZylinderroNen- paar gestreckt wird, ;
Du Pont de Nemours and Co., Inc., Wilmington, USA).
Printing blanket for printing machines The invention relates to a printing blanket for printing machines, in particular for film or screen printing machines, with an endless loop, the base layer of which consists of textile material and which is provided on the outside with at least one layer of vulcanized rubber, which, outside, a wing for,
the material to be printed forms and which printing blanket is provided with a non-stretchable element which runs in the longitudinal direction of the printing blanket and which prevents stretching of the printing blanket when it is subjected to tensile stress.
: Far. The invention relates to a process. For the production of such a printing blanket. With screen or film printing, the objects to be printed are supported by a printing blanket, which has the shape of an endless belt. The print is baptized;
the print material is applied in successive steps in such a way that a continuous series of a print pattern is produced. For every subsequent; printing process, the printing blanket is moved forward according to the .length of a .printing pattern.
For this reason, the entire printing blanket has to be set in motion and stopped again while maintaining a very high degree of accuracy in order to obtain a satisfactory transition between the individual prints applied. If the deviations exceed about 1 mm at any point during the entire handling of the loop, misprints will result. If the stretching of the printing blanket is different within the individual feeds, the pattern at the cutting points is no longer correct,
which is to be regarded as a serious mistake: since it is essential that the colors applied one after the other are applied exactly to the intended location. If .but: the fit is insufficient, there will be misprints and an unattractive appearance of the printed materials, which can only be sold at lower prices. However, the problem of producing satisfactory printing blankets is associated with considerable difficulties.
Blankets used on film printing machines are very long and heavy; some are ibis to 254 cm wide and 91 m long.
As a result, even small inaccuracies in the fit have a cumulative effect over the entire length of the printing blanket. So far it has not been possible to produce printing blankets with the necessary dimensional stability, which is why numerous mechanical precautions had to be taken on film printing machines in order to stop the advance of the printing blanket at exactly the right point. The problem remained, however,
that different tensile stresses and thus different expansions occurred in the printing blanket, which resulted in a non-uniform feed over the entire ceiling loop, which caused poor fits.
The division conditions for film printing are less strict than those for gnavure printing rollers for rotary printing of textiles. The printing cover in screen and film printing does not have to absorb the great compressive force exerted by the ink roller as in rotary printing; The work surface therefore does not have to withstand the wandering compression walls which run along the printing pad;
Furthermore, it does not have to absorb any significant other forces, because, for example, the washing device is also provided with its own drive. In short, the only requirements for printing blankets for film printing are that they must be tight, lie flat, have essentially no tendency to creep and be strong enough,
to move their own weight without stretching.
With regard to the successful formation of textile printing blankets, which are used in gravure printing cylinders and which have a relatively long service life even under unfavorable conditions, it would be expected that
id that such printing blankets would also be suitable for film printing machines. Surprisingly, however, this is not the case.
Although such printing blankets produce a very clear, sharp and shiny print image on rotary printing presses for textiles, the fit is very inadequate when used on film printing machines. Careful measurements have shown that, with film printing, these printing blankets are constantly changing their length while these printing blankets are moving step by step.
The invention aims to eliminate the disadvantages mentioned and to solve the problem (when the work surface is moved:
to keep the pitch errors as close as possible, so that such a printing blanket can be used in particular for film printing machines, even if the length of the printing blanket is very large, without a mechanical pitch correction being necessary.
The printing sheet according to the invention is characterized in that (the non-stretchable element has windings of a string which is layered on the base, the loop is wound in the shape of a screw and embedded in a rubber layer.
The process according to the invention for producing such a printing blanket is characterized in that the surface of a base layer made of textile material is coated with a vulcanizable rubber compound,
the coated base layer is stretched down to form a loop between a pair of cylinders;
the outer surface of this loop, the coated surface, the loop being moved by rotation of the one roller and being gradually placed under tension, the rotation of the loop being continued while maintaining the tension until essentially no further stretching can be measured, then on:
the coated bias layer is a continuous, rubber-coated string, made of an essentially non-smacking material, applied in the form of a helix in at least one layer:
this layer is covered with at least one layer of rubber-coated textile material and the layers thus formed are vulcanized with one another.
When using this printing blanket according to the invention: the working speed can be 720 in per hour or more, whereby even at this speed a tolerance can be maintained with the printing blanket that the error is measured at any point along the length, not greater than 0 .39 mm. It was found
that the position of the strings in the immediate vicinity of the lowest layer (cylinder layer) is important and that an alternative construction, which is known from the transmission belt ', B: au, in which a continuous position of strings in the longitudinal direction essentially in the The middle of the .Decke is wound, is unsatisfactory.
These strings are also in a dex-like position that the compression and extension forces are transferred to them when the top runs over the deflection rollers. Such tapes cannot be used for the purpose envisaged here, as the strings are intended to determine the length of the printing cover, and their dimensional stability is insufficient for film printing.
The invention is based on the knowledge that the critical level for defining the dimensions is neither the middle level nor the working level, but a level which is as close as possible to the deflecting cylinder.
This finding is all the more remarkable when it is taken into account that the length of material: when printing a film rests on a work surface,
Which of the strings is removed is round that it is the distortion of the textile tape together with the movement of the work surface that reduces the sharp and clear print image. It was also found
that the critical position with regard to linear deviations lies in the vicinity of the surface which is in contact with the drive roller through which the printing blanket is driven step by step.
The use of glass strings has proven to be particularly useful. The low elongation of such .glass strings allows the construction of printing blankets, .which result in a slight general elongation and a complete elastic resilience, which in turn results in improved dimensional stability, compared for example to rayon cords.
Since such glass strings have a greater tensile strength per unit than RTIID = "0002.0230" WI = "10" HE = "4" LX = "1831" LY = "1845"> other essentially inextensible strings, G1as @ strings of little. Diameters are used which have a much lower tendency to
to pass through the surface of the top layer of the finished printing blanket and which nevertheless have the necessary tensile strength and dimensional stability.
Since the glass strings applied to the cylinder layer have a tendency to curl during the production of the printing blanket, while they are guided around the pulleys, it is desirable to apply a greater tension to the cylinder layer, both during the production of the printing cover, as well as during vulcanization,
.as if strings are made, a material other than glass is used. The tension applied during manufacture to the top, round layer during vulcanization depends on the diameter of the string and the diameter:
the pulley. In a preferred embodiment, the tension is 3.56 to 7.2 kg / cm: width and preferably about 4.45 kg / cm. A suitable manufacturing method is the following:
A basic or cylinder layer made of canvas is coated on one side with a vulcanizable rubber mixture.
Two rollers are arranged so that the cylinder layer, when stretched over them, forms a loop. The ends of the layer are then spliced together. Then a force is exerted on one of the rollers and the layer is slowly placed under tension until the tension is around 1.75 kg / cm wide.
The layer is then allowed to run in, keeping it under constant tension until there is no significant slackening and no further increase in length can be measured. : The enema; it is variable and depends on the tightness of the: canvas fabric: from.
An essentially non-extendable string is wound on this, which was previously surrounded by a vulcanizable rubber jacket.
This string is wound onto the rubber-coated surface of the cylinder layer while maintaining the tension in the cylinder layer. A continuous length: this string is wound layer by layer, from the middle to the edge.
In order to avoid seams or stretching, two turns are wound at the same time, which lead from the center against the two side edges, namely one against the left edge and the other against the right edge. The tension: in the cylinder layer with the wound position of the strings is then set to a value in the order of magnitude from 3.56 to. 7.12 kg / cm increased.
A layer of canvas, which is provided with a vulcanizable rubber layer on both sides, is then placed on these strings and spliced at a point that is away from the splice point of the cylinder layer.
Another (third) layer of canvas, which is provided with a vulcanizable rubber mixture, is then placed on the last layer applied and spliced, with the splice point being offset from the other two.
The outer surface of this third layer is usually provided with a heavy coating made of a solvent-resistant rubber mixture and, after vulcanization, forms the working surface: the printing blanket.
If certain adhesives are used to attach the textile tape, it is desirable that the canvas penetrate the work surface. According to this: the top rubber layer can also be left out. The layers, which are twisted one on top of the other, are then put together under pressure and heat in a vulcanization press; adds.
As a result, the strings are totally embedded in the rubber compound, as are the layers of canvas and the work surface has a fine, even appearance.
The running in of the coated cylinder layer under tension and before the ceiling is joined is a necessary step. If this step is omitted, it will result in the printing blanket.
It is also necessary to maintain the tension when: The strings are wound around the cylinder layer, the tension to be maintained essentially unchanged. : The one that affects the strings: The tension should, however, only be minimal and preferably less than 0.9 kg per string.
In order to avoid uneven stretching of the print blanket and to eliminate seam defects, it is preferred that the string windings, which lie above the cylinder layer, form two helical lines with opposite winding directions, which extend from the center to the: Emden .
Certain linen fabrics are available which are so dense that there is no greater stretching of one edge than of the other when the string is unwound. If such a canvas is used, the string can also be wound continuously from one edge to the other @.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the Invention is shown.
Fiig. 1 shows a perspective view of a section from the printing blanket.
Fig. 2 is a cross-section through the printing blanket in an exploded view.
According to Flg. 2 there is a base layer 12 which is intended to rest on the deflection or cylindrical rollers and which has a rubber layer 13 on the outside (which latter is part of the rubber embedding: the strings). This layer 12 is called the cylinder layer below.
The strings 14, which are covered with rubber, are: wound up on top of the rubber layer 13. This is followed by a cover layer 15 which is provided on both sides with a rubber layer. The lower rubber layer 16 forms the lower one.
Part for setting the strings in concrete. The upper rubber layer 17 is connected to the lower layer 1, 8 of a canvas 19. The upper surface of the canvas 19 carries a rubber sheet 21, which forms the work surface during operation.
If desired, one or more additional intermediate layers can also be added. The canvas 19 can at most, also be omitted, provided that the cover layer 15 is woven strong and tight enough; however, their presence is an advantage.
The vulcanization: the temperature and the pressure used should be chosen so that the rubber layers are inseparably connected to one another and form a coherent rubber mass in which all fiber-containing elements, both the strings and the canvas, are embedded . : During vulcanization, the rubber flows into the spaces between the textile fabric and into the hollow spaces of the canvas inlays.
The strings are completely embedded in rubber, and rubber flows around them. The surface of the top, which is preferably pressed into a polished layer during production, is fine and free of irregularities. The strings 14 - also called cord - take. (thereby a layer, a,
which are immediately adjacent to the cylinder layer 1, 2. <I> Example 1 </I> A base layer of No. 12 canvas is applied on one side with a layer of vulcanizable neoprene-rubber mixture (neoprene type WRT, E.I.
Du Pont de Nemours & Co., Inc., Wilmington, USA) in a thickness of 0.056 ik! G @ m @. Two cylinders are then applied, so that when the cylinder layer winds stretched over it, the loop has a length of 36.6 m.
The layer is then spliced. Then one of the cylinder shafts is removed from the other while applying pressure and the loop is slowly stretched until the tension has reached 1.78 kg / cm in width, there is no slackening and the layer maintains its exact length.
Then two 6-layer, 270 denier strings made of saponified Aze-bat-aReyon Fortisan are used, which have been previously covered with a vulcauizable neoprene rubber compound (neoprene type WRT)
. These strings are wound onto the cylinder layer over the entire length of the loop, while the cylinder layer: is under constant tension.
The winding of the strings begins in the middle and each string thus runs from .the middle. To the outside towards an edge. as a continuous helix, with one helix running to the right and the other to the left. The diameter of the string will be; chosen so that uniform spacing. between the suites of about 3.17 mm is created.
During: the entire winding process, the tension on the string is kept at a constant level. Then a canvas layer No. 12 placed over the 'string and spliced at a point which is offset from the splice point of the cylinder layer.
This canvas layer is provided on its underside with a vulcanizable neoprene mixture (neoprene type WRT) with a thickness of 0.056 kg / m2. The upper side is provided with a neoprene mixture with a thickness of 0.014 kg / m2 (Neogren latex type 571, E.I.
Du Pont de Nemours and Co., Inc., Wilmington, USA). A third layer of canvas, with 0.014 kg / m @ a neoprice mixture (neoprene-latex type 571)
is coated on the underside and the top is coated with a sufficient layer of butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber (Hycar 1051, high acrylonitrile content, B.
F. Goodrich Company, Cleveland, USA) is provided to produce a layer thickness of about 0.39 mm. This layer is placed over the layer which covers the strings and splices them at a point which is offset from the two lower splice points.
The blank prepared in this way is passed cda.nn through a vulcanization press with a polished metal plate between -the upper .plate and .the uppermost rubber layer. The ceiling is vulcanized at 154 C at a pressure of 35 kg / an2.
<I> Example 11 </I> From a printing blanket which was produced in the described manner, as described in Example I: P. test pieces were cut out with a (width of 25.4 mm and a length of 45.7 cm. Some of these test pieces contained splices, while others did not.
These test pieces were subjected to a tensile test, whereby the tensile force could be varied in such a ratio that the start-up and:
corresponded to the shutdown of the printing device. The elongations occurring under the train were carefully measured, and indeed. a series of tensile stresses to which each sample was subjected. The spliced and original spliced patterns showed no deviations in their behavior.
For comparison, a sample 25.4 mm wide and 45.7 cm long, which was cut out of a conventional printing blanket, was exposed to the same tensile stresses. The different extension between a spliced test piece in relation to -to,
an unspliced one was 0g65 mm under a load of 1.78 to 8.9 kg per cm of width. When the tensile load increased from 8.9 kg to 17.8 kg, there was an additional deviation in the extension of 0.41 mm.
The blanket according to Example I was placed on a printing machine of the type Ichinose RTI ID = "0004.0234" WI = "15" HE = "4" LX = "1726" LY = "1670"> automati @ screen printing machirre.
Extremely difficult patterns were then selected for a number of tests, which had previously led to printing errors on this mixer.
It. We tried different lengths of the repeating patterns and different printing speeds, with a total printing length of <B> 91 </B> 440 m. No deviations were measured at any point that were greater than 0.39 mm.
In contrast to this, the deviations on the same machine with conventional printing blankets were 4.76 mm.
<I> Example 111 </I> A canvas fabric No. 12 as a base is coated on one side with a vulcanizable butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber mixture (Hycar 1051, high acrylonitrile content, B.
F. Goodrich-Company, Cleveland, USA) provided with a covering of 0.056 kg / m2. Two rollers about 25.4 cm were then used so that, when the cylinder layer was stretched over them, the loop so formed was 22 m in length.
This layer was then spliced. The rollers were then driven apart and the loop slowly stretched until. the tension in the layer was 1.78 kg per cm of width. This layer was then run in with a tension of 1.78 kg / cm, with no slackening and the layer maintaining its exact length.
Then two, three-layer glass layers (Owens-Corning-E. C.
G. 150 1/3), which were previously coated with a vulcanisable butad'.pnacrylonitrile rubber mixture (Hycar 1051), which contained 20% solids and a wet surface absorption of 1.32 kg / 1000 m string applied to the entire loop length of the cylinder layer.
The winding of the strings began in the middle of the layer and each ran from there, towards one side edge as a continuous line of screws, one to the left and the other to the right.
around. The pitch of the strings was chosen so that a uniform spacing of 12.7 mm wide resulted. Each of the strings was pulled under a tension of about 0,
45 kg and the tension was evenly maintained during the entire winding operation. This carcass was then removed from the winding frame and taken to a receiving and vulcanizing station. Two rolls about 10 inches in diameter, similar to those used in the winding process, were used.
However, these rolls were arranged in front of and behind the vulcanization press so that the loop ran between the press. The axis of one of the rollers was then shifted until there was a tension in the carcass between the rollers of 45 kg per cm of width.
A canvas layer No. 12, which was provided on one side with a vulcanizable layer of butadiene acrylonitrile rubber mixture (Hycar 1051), in a thickness of 0.056 kg / m2 and the top side with 0.014 kg / m2 butadiene, acrylonitrile rubber mixture i (Hycar 1042, medium high acrylonitrile content, B.
F. Goodrich Company, Cleveland, USA) was placed over the strings and spliced at a point that was offset from the plaisssitelle of the cylinder layer.
A third layer of canvas is provided on its underside with a layer thickness of 0.014 kg / m2 made of butadiene acrylonitrile rubber mixture (Hycar 1042), around the top of which is coated with a .sufficient layer of butadiene acrylonitrile rubber mixture (Hycar 1051) To obtain a surface 0.39 mm thick, which is placed over the intermediate layer and spliced at a point that is distant from the two splice points below.
A tension of 4.45 kg per cm of width is maintained and the whole ceiling! Is then passed through the vulcanization press, which has a polished stainless steel band between the upper plate around the uppermost rubber surface. The ceiling was then vulcanized at 154 C and a pressure of 35 kg / cm2.
This cover was then used in a machine of the Stork Automatic Screen Printing type and tested in the following manner. After the ceiling had been properly installed and stretched, a layer of paint was applied to the surface of the ceiling and hairlines were drawn across the length of the ceiling.
The D; The head was then set in motion until the hairlines reached the head end of the machine where a reference hairline index was attached to a stationary part of the machine. The ceiling was then allowed to run in a step-wise manner, with hairlines being made on the ceiling at the head end. After each repetition, the deviation was then measured. And the index mark was read, and that over several cycles.
In no case was the deviation more than 0.39 mm per deactivation revolution.
The use of the printing blankets described on film printing machines, namely those with a simple end roller drive, for example of the Ichinose and Stork type, avoids the need to use mechanical stops, as well as steel chain reinforcements and other complicated feed devices.
The only mechanical stop required is the one to control the movement of the drive roller. In machines that have only one control device for stopping the roll, the color marks have a remarkably good correspondence of pattern repetition to pattern repetition over the entire product length.
The rubber @ or. Rubber which is used in the printing blanket described can be one which is conventionally used in textile printing deoks and can be varied depending on the requirements desired. It is possible to use mixtures that are on the manufacturer's production line.
The rubber-coated layers can: also be cold-pressed together in order to achieve sufficient adhesion of the rubber to the adjacent layers, or the rubber mixture can be of the pressure-sensitive type in order to achieve such cold-pressing.
The term rubber should be understood in a generic sense and encompass long-chain, vulcanizable, polymeric substances, regardless of their chemical origin, which have the required physical properties, such as flexibility, resilience and resistance, @ against inks and solvents in the printing industry to have.
Such printing blankets should not be restricted for use on film or screen printing machines, but they can also be used for: other printing applications, in particular with existing printing presses, in which the work is carried out by a blanket that is linearly under a rotating Pressure cylinder is pulled through other presses,
in which the printing surface is attached to the blanket itself and is passed under a cylinder which contains the sheets or ribbons to be printed.
