Steam converting valve The invention relates to a steam converting valve in which the steam is simultaneously cooled by the injection of water on the outflow side and an expanding flow space is connected to the adjustable valve cross-section.
Such valves are already known. In a known valve, the cooling water is supplied in the vicinity of the valve seat at the location of the strongest constriction of the steam flow so that it is entrained and finely distributed by the high steam speed prevailing there, and evaporated by the temperature difference between steam and water. As long as a certain percentage of water added is not exceeded, the water can be absorbed by the steam inside the valve. By designing the spray opening as a ring slot, the percentage of water added reaches higher values.
A disadvantage is the high cooling water pressure required when reducing high-pressure superheated steam to low-pressure steam. The cooling water must either be taken from the boiler feed pump so that it has to be designed correspondingly larger, which makes the system more expensive, or a special high-pressure injection pump must be set up that works poorly and uneconomically at the required high pressures and the small injection quantities .
In existing steam boiler systems whose superheated steam cooler is to be replaced by a steam converting valve, the boiler feed pumps do not have the necessary reserve to convey the injection water.
However, the delivery pressure of the existing cooling water pumps of the superheated steam cooler to be replaced is not sufficient for the water supply of the known steam converting valve, which is why the purchase of special high-pressure injection pumps is necessary. Another disadvantage is that steam cooling to close to the saturated steam state is not possible because the temperature difference between steam and water and thus the heat exchange disappear before evaporation is complete.
It is known that by coupling the cooling water valve with the steam valve or by allowing a pressure-dependent control device to act simultaneously on the steam and water valve, but a temperature regulator only on the water valve, the control behavior of the known steam conversion valve can be improved. It is also known to provide an abrupt expansion of the flow channel behind the mixing zone of steam and water in order to intensify the turbulence and evaporation effect. However, the disordered flow can cause unbearable noises and dangerous vibrations.
When the cooling water is injected near the valve seat, damage and malfunctions of the valve are possible as a result of the thermal stress. Therefore, in a known steam converting valve, the cooling water injection is provided in the, outflow, side valve part, which is preferably designed as a Venturi tube to achieve pressure recovery.
However, this valve is only suitable for use with subcritical pressure gradients. In another steam conversion valve, a second constriction is provided on the outflow side, in which the water is injected. This eliminates the risk for the valve seat, but the steam speed, which is decisive for the droplet size, is greatly reduced.
In the case of a known steam converting valve with water injection on the discharge side, the water is also injected into the steam flow at a suitable speed at partial load through a regulating annular gap.
Because of the strong noises associated with the disordered flow, this valve is followed by a powerful labyrinth throttle section, which keeps the pressure level so high that the conical tube between the steam valve and the throttle section acts as a venturi tube.
There is also a throttle valve with an outflow pipe adjoining the passage point of the steam and a throttle body projecting into this known, which can be adjusted by means of the valve spindle and is shaped so that in every position of the throttle body the guidance of the steam as in a Laval nozzle takes place.
The task of this valve is to keep the steam flow constant with a fixed valve setting and fluctuating back pressure; but it is not suitable to regulate the counterpressure and at the same time to cool the steam with means of injection water.
A common feature of the known steam converting valves is that the water supplied is atomized by the relative speed and the evaporation by the temperature gradient between water and steam. The disordered flow associated with this throttling and mixing process is associated with unbearably loud noises and not infrequently also with dangerous vibrations.
It is therefore necessary to connect these valves downstream of throttle labyrinths, which destroy the majority of the pressure gradient at full throughput and also act like fillers that bring the remaining droplets to post-evaporation. Because of the quadratic dependence of the throttle loss of the labyrinths on the steam throughput, there are control difficulties and strong expansion noises with a small steam throughput.
The invention avoids the disadvantages of the known designs in that, according to the invention, the expansion of the flow space is so great that the expansion of the steam causes the pressure to drop to a value that is considerably below that required to expel the amount of steam with subsonic levels speed is necessary,
that at the end of this flow space there is an obstacle and / or a concave edge for generating the missing pressure by a compression surge and that a device for injecting the cooling water is provided directly in front of the compression front.
The evaporation within the compression front even enables cooling down to the saturated steam state, because any moisture is retained by the compression front, because the increase in pressure prevents the water droplets from penetrating the area of higher pressure.
Because of the strong expansion of the steam and the associated temperature reduction, it is possible to attach a servomotor to which hot water from the feed water tank is applied directly to the valve housing on the low pressure side and which actuates the valve. The valve-side cylinder space of the servo motor can be connected to the cooling water supply of the steam converting valve, so that a stuffing box is unnecessary on the steam side, especially when the feed water used as cooling water is injected along the valve stem.
The steam converting valve according to the invention works only with the cooling water and its relatively low pressure and does not require any further aids, so that it is particularly reliable in operation.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawing, which one. Shows a longitudinal section through a steam conversion valve.
The hot steam to be relaxed and cooled enters the valve housing 2 through a connector 1. The flow space 3 around the valve stem 4 is designed in such a way that, like a Laval nozzle, it accelerates the steam flow by expanding to supersonic speed.
The upper surface 5 of a guide hub 6 suddenly narrows the flow space 3 so that a compression front 7 is formed in which the supersonic flow changes discontinuously into a subsonic flow of higher pressure.
The valve stem 4 preferably has throttle slots 8 arranged in a helical manner for the supply of cooling water. The cooling water entering the flow space 3 through a nozzle 9, an annular space 10 and the throttle slots 8 arrives immediately in front of the compression front 7, where the vapor pressure and temperature are greatly reduced and the vapor is already wet in some cases. The screwing entry of the water spreads it radially. When using hot water, e.g. B.
Boiler feed water, the evaporation pressure of the cooling water is higher than the steam pressure in front of the compression front 7, which has the consequence that the water droplets burst through internal steam formation and only then get into: the compression front 7, where they are completely shattered and evaporated.
In a flow chamber 11 adjoining the compression front 7, the speed is subsonic. To rectify the flow and to support a bell wall 12, ribs 13 are arranged on the guide hub 6, which guide the flow into the low-pressure chamber 14, from where the steam reaches an outlet 15. A servo cylinder 17, in which a piston 18 can move, is arranged on a connection cover 16. The same pressure prevails in the cylinder space 19 as in the annular space 10.
In the cylinder space 20, on the other hand, there is a pressure modified by a pressure regulator 21, which causes the piston 18 to move against the force of the spring 22 when the steam pressure to be regulated falls. The throttle slots 8 are shaped in such a way that the water / steam ratio remains constant during the stroke movement of the valve stem 4, which ensures low-inertia regulation of the steam temperature.
The steam temperature is regulated in that the regulator 23 changes the cooling water pressure prevailing at the connection 9.
