Tilting hook device for chalet gutters It is known that in times of snowfall, chalet gutters are liable to deteriorate under the weight of accumulated snow. It often happens that the hooks intended to support the cottage gutters give way and that the gutter, no longer normally supported, is torn from the inclined roof of which it forms the lower edge.
The present invention, which aims to obviate this drawback, relates to a tilting hook device for a chalet gutter. It is characterized in that it comprises a support formed of a flat iron, this support being provided with holes intended to be traversed by a means for fixing the support at the desired inclination, on a rafter supporting the roof purlins. of a chalet, one of these holes serving for the passage of a tilting axis of a gutter fixing hook, this maneuver being carried out after the removal of a removable plug intended to keep the gutter hook parallel ment at the inclination of said support,
the gutter being supported at regular intervals by means of hooks fitted with the said device and the removal of the plugs allowing the gutter to be tilted to bring it into a position of release from the edge of the roof so that the snow accumulated on the the chalet's sloping roof falls directly to the ground without damaging the gutter.
The appended drawing shows an embodiment of the device, given by way of example.
Figs. 1 to 3 are overall views of the positive device, FIG. 1 being a view in elevation, FIG. 2 being a plan view of FIG. 1 and fig. 3, an end view. Fig. 4, on a larger scale, is a partial elevational view of the attachment of a gutter to a hook.
Figs. 5 and 6 show a guide stirrup for the front rolled edge of the gutter, FIG. 5 being an elevational view of the caliper and FIG. 6, a transverse sectional view, taken along the line VI-VI of FIG. 5, the bracket being fixed on the hook.
Figs. 7 and 8 show a guide stirrup for the posterior straight edge of the gutter before the bending of said stirrup, FIG. 7 being a view in elevation and FIG. 8, a transverse sectional view, taken along the line VIII-VIII of FIG. 7.
Fig. 9, on a smaller scale, is a partial elevational view of the roof of a chalet for a view of the tilting hook device shown in FIG. 1.
The device, in the embodiment shown in the drawing, comprises a support 1, comprising a flat iron of oblong shape. The support 1 is provided with holes 2 traversed by lag screws 3 (Fig. 9) intended for fixing the device to a rafter 4 of the roof 5 of a chalet.
The support 1 is in contact with the rear part 6 of a hook 7 intended for fixing a gutter 8. The rear part 6, comprising a flat iron of oblong shape, is articulated on a fixed axis 9, for example by matting the rod, on the support 1. The front part 10 of the hook 7 is connected to the rear part 6 by a twist 11 of the flat iron and has an arc of a circle of about half a circumference, intended to receive the oak 8.
The front edge 12, rolled, of the gutter 8 is guided in each of the devices described by a stirrup 13 (fig. 5 and 6), of circular section and with parallel branches, one of the branches of the stirrup being fixed on the front part 10, by a rivet 14. A stirrup 15 (fig. 7 and 8), U-shaped with branches of unequal length, covers the posterior edge 16, rectilinear, of the gutter 8, the longer branch being fixed on the front part 10 by a rivet 17.
An L-shaped pin 18, engaged in coaxial holes of the support 1 and the rafter 4, keeps the hook 7 in the normal position corresponding to the superposition of the upper edges of the rear part 6 and the support 1 respectively, as shown in solid lines in Figs. 1 and 9. The pin 18 is attached by a chain 19 to the hinge pin 9 for the com modity of maneuvering the device.
By removing the pin 18, the hook 7 swings around the axis 9 in the direction of the arrow f and occupies the disengaged position shown in phantom in fig. 1 and 9, so that the snow, accumulated on the roof 5, falls to the ground, without damaging the gutter 8.
In the event that the protrusion of the rafters 4 relative to the front wall of the chalet would be too great, provision could be made for the fixing of a stop on each of the supports 1 so that the tilting operation of the hooks 7 is limited to the position shown in phantom lines in fig. 1 and 9, so as to avoid the possible swaying of the channel and its tilting hooks under the effect of the wind.
