On remplit
dans le rapport OR'/Si = 1 ; 30 g de white spirit;
Process for the formation, on the surface of a mold,
a solid coating facilitating demoulding
It is known to use, for demolding parts prepared by press molding, in particular parts made of rubber or other plastics, mold release agents, such as stearate or other type soaps, special oils or organosiloxane compounds such as fluids, emulsions. or suspensions of these fluids. It is also known to use resinable organosiloxane compounds. However, the film obtained on the molds by means of these mold release agents is quickly carried away and must be renewed very frequently.
The present invention makes it possible to avoid this drawback; it relates to a process for the formation, on the surface of a mold, of a solid coating facilitating demolding.
In accordance with the invention, a thermosetting mixture is applied, formed at least in part by a silicone resin and a titanium compound, and which can be a solution of said resin and said compound in a solvent or diluent such as for example white spirit on at least a portion of the molding surface of a mold and the mixture is hardened by heating.
As silicone resin, one can advantageously use organopolysiloxanes whose organic radicals are alkyl radicals, such as methyl, ethyl, phenyl, etc., alkoxy radicals such as methoxy, ethoxy, etc., or acyloxy radicals such as acetoxy. , etc., these radicals being alone in the resin or associated. This resin can also contain hydroxy groups. In organopolyxiloxanes, the R / Si ratio of the organic radical to the silicon is between 1 and 2.
As titanium compound, one can advantageously use compounds of general formula TimOm ¯, (OR ') ,,,,. i> p (RCOO) v, in which OR 'is an alkoxy radical such as methoxy, ethoxy, butoxy, etc., and RCOO an acyloxy radical such as acetoxy, etc., m is an integer equal to or greater than 1 and p an integer equal to or greater than 1 but less than 2 (m + 1). When, for example, m is equal to 3 with p less than m + 1, we have a liquid which is difficult to obtain in the pure state. When p = m + 1, the product is crystallized and easily obtained in the pure state. When p is between m + 1 and 2 (ion + 1), there is also a solid but of poorly defined composition and difficult to purify.
The thermosetting mixture can be applied to the molds in any suitable manner: with a brush, by dipping, or better by spraying with a gun or by means of an aerosol canister, after dilution in freon.
In the latter case, conventional aerosol cans can be used, since there is no need to fear the clogging of the valves under the influence of traces of humidity, thanks to the relative stability to hydrolysis of the titanium compounds described.
After depositing on the mold, the mixture is subjected to a hardening heat treatment. For this purpose, it is possible to carry out the application of the mold release agent cold, then heat the molds in order to obtain the hardening of the mold release agent. However, it is more convenient to apply the mixture on the mold already brought to the hardening temperature.
This temperature must be chosen all the higher as it is desired to obtain a more rapid curing. Thus, the complete hardening of the mixture generally requires a time ¯ of the order of 30 to 45 min at 120, while the hardening is only 5 min at 1500, at room temperature the hardening is obtained after 24 hours. It is generally chosen to carry out the heat treatment at the normal temperature of use of the molds, in particular in the case of the molding of natural or synthetic rubber or of thermosetting resins.
The above-described thermosetting mixture wets the surface of the mold well and gives a very regular and continuous film, which solidifies quickly giving a very smooth and resistant hard coating, strongly adhering to the surface of the mold. It is then possible to mold rubber or plastic parts and easily demould them because the coating does not adhere to the molded materials. In particular, the adhesion to the mold of the hardened mixture and its resistance are such that it is possible to carry out numerous moldings without renewing the coating.
To obtain the best results in the treatment of molds, it is necessary to adapt the quantity of titanium compound used to - the reactivity propt - of the silicone resin employed in the composition of the mixture, the ratio of the number of Ti / units. If can vary between 0.001 and 1.
The following examples describe implementations of the process of the invention.
Example 1
The following compounds are cold mixed: 70 g of a silicone resin containing groups
methyl in the ratio R / Si = 1.25 and
ethoxy groups in the ratio OR '/ Si = 1; 30 g of white spirit; 12.2 g of the compound Ti (OC4H9) 8 (CH8COO) at 11; 45 8 / o
titanium.
The liquid obtained is sprayed either on a steel mold or on an aluminum alloy mold brought to 1500 C. It wets the surface of the mold well and gives a very regular and continuous film. After 5 minutes at this temperature, a hard, shiny, very smooth coating is obtained, with which it is possible to mold a very large number of parts based on
rubber in particular of the kind of compositions for shoe soles, the mold release remaining
also easy for the whole series of parts.
Example 2
The same composition as that obtained in Example 1 is diluted in 670 g of freon.
an aerosol can of the solution and sprayed on a steel or aluminum alloy mold brought to
1500, as for Example 1. A glossy, hard, very smooth coating is obtained, exhibiting remarkable non-stick properties.
Example 3
The following compounds are cold mixed: 70 g of a silicone resin containing groups
methyl R / Si = 1.25 and ethoxy groups
in the ratio OR '/ Si = 1; 30 g of white spirit;
9.9 g of the compound Ti5O9 (OC4H9) 4 (CH3COO) 4.
The liquid obtained is applied to a steel or aluminum alloy mold brought to 1500 C. it wets the surface of the mold well and gives a regular and continuous film. After 5 min at this temperature, a hard, shiny, smooth coating is obtained, with which it is possible to mold a very large number of plates or parts based on rubber compositions, soles, stoppers, etc., from mixtures. more or less loaded entering into the composition of these pieces. These are then very easy to demould even after a prolonged series of molding operations.
Example 4
Diluted - in 670 g of freon the same composition as that used in the previous example. An aerosol canister is filled with the solution and sprayed onto a steel or aluminum alloy mold brought to 1500 ° C. as in Example 3. A glossy, hard, very smooth coating is also obtained, exhibiting remarkable non-stick properties. .
