Caissette repliable
Folding crate
The present invention relates to a collapsible box with elements that can be folded over one another in order to be of reduced bulk after use.
The advantages of the invention will emerge from the description which will follow with reference to the appended drawings, given solely by way of example, and in which
figs. 1 and 2 are schematic views showing, respectively, the ready-to-use box and the box with its elements folded down.
Figs. 3 and 4 show the two arrangements of a box produced.
Fig. 5 is a partial elevational view of a box being assembled.
Fig. 6 is a sectional view along A-A of FIG. 5.
Figs. 7, 8 and 9 illustrate in perspective three construction variants.
Fig. 10 is a sectional view along A-A of FIG. 9.
In the case of fig. 1 to 9, the box comprises a bottom 1 and walls 2 and 3 formed by elements cut in a single piece and which can be folded over one another by means of a groove or a fold line 4, determining a real hinge that matches the fold lines.
In the case of fig. 4, two of the walls of the box, for example the walls 3, are each provided with a series of slots, in the form of arcs of a circle, 13, 14, 15 (see fig. 5), these slots with a radius of increasing curvature being concentric and having a common center which is located at the point 4 of folding of the walls 2 on the bottom; each of the slots (see Figs. 3, 4 and 5) has a hole which determines a buttonhole 7 which happens to be placed at the start of the slot.
On the other two walls are provided as many pins 17, each provided with a head 18, as there are slots in the form of circular arcs, as indicated above (see fig. 3, 5 and 6), said lugs being housed in the slots for fixing the walls 2 to the walls 3 by a mucus displacement from the bottom to the top. Each of the circular arc-shaped slits 13, 14 and 15 has at its end a bore 21 and a bulge 22 of limited length, which reduces the width of the slit, said bulge being in addition, relative to the plane of the wall, projecting by a suitably calculated distance M.
The aforementioned bulges are intended to adhere with a certain force the heads 18 of the lugs 17 passing through the slots 13 to 15 while the bores 21, which are of a diameter greater than the width of the slots facing the rell- flements 22, are intended to maintain the lugs 17 in the position of the mounted box with absolute safety, thus eliminating any danger of accidental or unwanted release.
To place the box in the desired arrangement for its use, as shown in fig. 4, the walls 2 are one after the other raised with the two walls 3 so that the heads 18 of the pins 17 pass at the same time through the buttonholes 16 to protrude relative to them, then to the two walls 2 an angular displacement towards the outside of the box so that the lugs 17 engage in the slots 13, 14 and 15 of the two walls 3. Thanks to the action of the heads 18 of the lugs 17 on the bulges 22 and housing the lugs in the bores 21, the box is ready for use and has absolutely identical stability to that of the monolithic type boxes.
On the other hand, if the walls 3 are subtracted from the action of maintaining the heads 18 of the lugs 17 (see FIG. 5), the box is presented with its extended elements and is, therefore, of a very small size. , a condition which makes the box particularly practical and convenient in all its fields of use, above all for transporting fish or fruit.
In the case of the box shown in FIG. 7, there is provided on each of the walls 2 and 3 a side edge shaped so as to allow assembly by vertical U-grooves 5. Due to the elasticity of the plastic material used, the installation of the walls 2 and 3 in the position which they must occupy, when the box is ready for use, is found to be notably facilitated while also ensuring the possibility of a rapid separation for the folding of the various elements on the bottom, while the box is stored after its employment, or even shipped.
In the case of the box of fig. 8, each of two of its walls, for example the walls 2, has at its lateral ends a vertical bead with an enlarged head 6, while in each of the other two walls, that is to say the walls 3, there is provided a seat 7 for housing by fitting the cords 6 so as to obtain the connection shown in said figure.
In order to obtain a perfect assembly of the elements, there is also provided a safety strip 8, the purpose of which is to keep the various constituent elements of the box linked together, said strip being housed in the spans provided for this purpose or being provided with fixing and guiding means.
In fig. 9 and 10, another variant embodiment has been shown. In this case, the box has on two of its walls, for example the walls 2, and along the lateral edges thereof, several lugs 9 provided with an enlarged head 10, provided with a slot 1 1 of expansion, while on the other two walls, for example on the walls 3, there are slots 12 which each correspond to one of the aforementioned lugs for the housing by force thereof.
Practically, in all the cases which have just been described, the elements of the box, that is to say the walls and the bottom, can be folded over one on the other in order to be able to reduce the size of the box. the assembly after use and in particular for storage and shipping.
