Device for positioning the tables or slides of machine tools or measuring machines
With the movable tables or slides of measuring machines and precision machine tools, in addition to backlash-free storage and parallel guidance, it is particularly important to precisely determine the extent of the respective shift, in other words to position the table or slide without errors. This task occurs especially in coordinate measuring machines, drilling machines and jig boring machines, which requires the positioning of the table or slide with an accuracy of up to 1/1000 mm.
As a rule, the constructive auxiliaries for solving this problem consist of a scale with fine graduation on the movable part and a reading device on the stationary part, usually the machine frame, which essentially consists of a microscope or a projection device with magnifying optics .
As a result, the position of the stationary measuring mark relative to the movable scale is made visible in a suitable magnification. In the enlarged representation of the scale, however, only a very small section can be overlooked. It therefore often happens that the last decimal places of the required dimension are set precisely, but incorrect positioning in the preceding places is overlooked. Even if the positioning is divided into a coarse and a fine adjustment process in order to avoid such errors, which in itself is inconvenient, the result of working with the machines described depends largely on the fact that trained specialists are employed.
Positioning has therefore already been largely automated and for this purpose devices are used which, in addition to the optical equipment already mentioned, also work with photoelectric and electronic means and the movable table or table.
Control the slide using punch cards, perforated tape or magnetic tape. These systems are not only complex and therefore usually not affordable for smaller companies. In addition, because of their complicated facilities, they require highly specialized maintenance personnel who are not always available even in large companies. Positioning devices are therefore required which, despite a simple structure, not only work with the required accuracy, but can also be operated and maintained by less trained personnel.
A device for positioning the movable table or slide of a precision machine tool or measuring machine with a scale attached to the table or slide and with a reading device arranged on the machine frame is created according to the invention in that a number of mutually touching balls of the same diameter are provided as the scale, the center of which lie on a straight line parallel to the direction of displacement, and that the reading device consists of a cylindrical feeler element, which can be moved perpendicular to this movable element for the purpose of contact with two spheres of the scale, which is spring-mounted parallel to the scale and which acts on two mutually opposite measuring probes Dial gauges the zero position of the feeler element parallel to the scale or
show its deviation from this.
The sensing element and the measuring probe can be mounted on a carriage which can be displaced parallel to the scale and whose position relative to the machine frame can be determined by means of end dimensions.
The device can be installed in such a way that a switching drum is provided for the final dimensions of a ten-digit number of 1/1000 mm, on which the final dimensions are evenly distributed on a pitch circle, with all pitch circles having the same diameter, and that the Schalttromrnel are freely rotatable and longitudinally displaceable on two axes, which are parallel to the direction of displacement of the carriage at a distance equal to the pitch circle diameter, so that any combination of the end mass can be produced on a contact line, which is created by one between the Axes arranged stationary stop for this adjacent final dimension is given.
The invention is explained in the following description with reference to the drawing, for example, in which an embodiment is shown schematically, namely in Fig. 1 the positioning device in view, partially in section and in Fig. 2 the compressed air-operated stepping mechanism of this device.
In Fig. 1, 1 denotes the movable carriage of the machine and the number 2 denotes the machine frame, which is also only hinted at. A rail 3 on which balls 4 are arranged is attached to the slide 1. The balls' are fixed in the rail 3, touch each other and have the same diameter, e.g. B. 10 mm. They serve as a scale for the positioning device, which can optionally be supplemented by a rough ruler on the rail 3.
The reading device denoted by 5 is housed in a housing 6 which is attached to the machine frame 2. It has a probe body 7 which is preferably cylindrical in shape and whose axis is perpendicular to the scale. The probe body 7 is attached to a lever 8 which in turn is mounted on a carrier 10 by means of a leaf spring 9 in such a way that the probe body 7 can be moved perpendicular to the scale. A tension spring 11 arranged between the lever 8 and the carrier 10 pulls the lever 8 against a stop 13.
The stop 13 is attached to a piston 14 which is located in a cylinder 15 arranged in the carrier 10. By introducing compressed air into the cylinder 15, the piston 14 is pushed forward so that the stop 13 touches the probe body 7 perpendicular to the scale up to Attachment to two balls 4 of the same moves.
The carrier 10 is mounted on a carriage 18 by means of two leaf springs 16 and 17 such that the parts 10, 16, 17 and 18 form a parallelogram and the carrier 10 can be deflected parallel to the scale. A nose 19 of the carrier 10 engages between the two holders 20 and 21 of the carriage 18. It acts on two measuring probes 22 and 23 which are mounted opposite one another on the holders 20 and 21, respectively. The measuring probes 22 and 23 are in operative connection with dial gauges 24 and 25, which are attached to a suitable point on the reading device 5 and incline the deflection of the holder 10 and thus of the probe body 7 parallel to the scale.
As indicated by the rollers 26, the carriage 18 is mounted in the housing 6 so as to be displaceable parallel to the scale. A spring 27, which is mounted between the housing wall and the carriage 18, presses the carriage 18 to the left so that its on; Beat 28 hits the final mass to be described. In the carriage 18 there is a cylinder 29 in which a piston 30 slides. If compressed air is passed into the cylinder 29, the piston exits to the left and hits a projection 31 on the housing wall, whereupon the carriage 18 is shifted to the right against the force of the spring 27 and its stop 28 is thereby lifted from the end masses.
The position of the carriage 18 relative to the machine frame 2 can be determined by means of gauge blocks, the arrangement of which is described below. In the outer wall of the housing 6 and in the one already mentioned.
Projection 31 of the housing wall is mounted on an axis 32 parallel to the scale. The axis 32 carries the indexing drums 33 and 34, which are freely rotatable and longitudinally displaceable on it. The indexing drum 33 is loaded to the right by a spring 35, which is supported on a shoulder of the axis 32. In the same way, the switching drum 34 is loaded by a spring 36. On the indexing drum 33, preferably ten terminal weights are evenly distributed on a pitch circle. For the sake of clarity, only two end dimensions 37 and 38 are shown. The left ends of the end mass lie in a plane perpendicular to axis 32. The length of the final mass is uniform, e.g.
B. graduated from millimeter to millimeter. As on the switching drum 33, ten end masses e are preferably arranged on the switching drum 34, again only two, the end masses 39 and 40 being shown. The diameter of the pitch circle on which the last-mentioned final dimensions are evenly distributed is the same as that of the pitch circle on the indexing drum 33. The left ends of the final dimensions arranged on the indexing drum 34 lie in a plane perpendicular to the axis 32 Final dimensions of this switching drum are graduated in length, for example with a 1/10 raln difference in length.
At a distance from the axis 32, which is equal to the diameter of the aforementioned pitch circles, there is an axis 41 parallel to this axis.It is mounted in the housing outer wall and an inner wall 42 and carries indexing drums 43 and 44, which are freely rotatable and longitudinally displaceable are.
The indexing drums 43 and 44, like the indexing drums 33 and 34 already described, are loaded by springs 49 and 50. On the switching drum 43 are preferably ten end masses with a length difference of 1/1000 mm each evenly arranged on a pitch circle whose diameter is the same as that of the drums already described. Of the end dimensions that are located on the switching drum 43, only two, namely those labeled 45 and 46, are shown.
There are also preferably ten end dimensions on the switching drum 44, which have a length difference of 1/100 mm. Of these terminal weights, only those marked 47 and 48 are visible. The pitch circle on which these final dimensions are arranged has the same diameter as the pitch circles already mentioned. In the middle between the bearings of the axes 32 and 41, a stop 51 is attached in the wall of the housing 6. The final dimension of the switching drum 43 located in front of it can be supported against this stop.
At this final dimension lies the final dimension of the indexing drum 34 brought into the axis of the stop 51, followed by the corresponding final dimension of the indexing drum 44 and that of the indexing drum 33, on which the stop 28 of the carriage 18 rests under the force of the spring r 27. The spring 27 overcomes the sum of the forces exerted by the springs 35, 36, 49 and 50. If, on the other hand, compressed air is fed into the cylinder 29 and the stop 28 of the carriage 18 is lifted from the end masses, then each of the springs 35, 36, 49 and 50 moves the switching drum to the right up to the respective stop shoulder of the axles 32 and 41 As a result, the end mass lift from one another and the indexing drums can be rotated without the end mass being damaged.
Before the positioning device described is put into use, the measuring probes 22 and 23 are set so that the dial gauges 24 and 25 display the same values in the rest position of the carrier 10, expediently the zero value. For their function it is irrelevant whether the measuring probes work mechanically, electrically, electronically or pneumatically. It is of course advisable to use measuring systems at this point which are able to give the drive device of the slide 1 control pulses.
Using a numerical example, the operations to be carried out for the positioning of the slide 1 will now be described, the coordinate 16.384 mm being required for the position of the slide. In order to be able to put together the necessary combination of the end mass, it is necessary to relieve the end mass from the pressure exerted on it by the spring 27. For this purpose, compressed air is fed into the cylinder 29 of the carriage 18. As a result, the piston 30 moves in the cylinder 29, hits the projection 31 of the housing 6 and pushes the carriage 18 to the right.
The force of the springs loading the indexing drums 33, 34, 43 and 44 is thus released, so that the indexing drums are guided to the right against the corresponding shoulders of the axles 32 and 41 and each indexing drum is freely rotatable. Now the final dimension 0.004 mm of the switching drum 43, the final dimension 0.3 mm of the switching drum 34, the final dimension 0.08 mm of the switching drum 44 and the final dimension 6.0 mm of the switching drum 33 are rotated in the axis of the stop 51. Thereupon the compressed air in the cylinder 29 is allowed to escape so that the force of the spring 27 guides the carriage 18 to the left until its stop 28 hits the gauge block adjacent to it.
Since the force of the spring 27 exceeds the sum of the forces exerted by the springs 35, 36, 49 and 50 on the indexing drums, all the end masses that have just been brought into use are shifted to the left. This establishes the contact between the final dimension and the first final dimension against the stationary stop 51 and the final dimension against the stop 28 of the carriage 18 and the probe body 7 attached to the carriage is at the position 6.384 mm relative to the machine frame 2. The 20.0 mm coordinate of the slide 1, which lies in the middle between two balls 4, is then set to the center of the probe body 7, with deviations of +20 mm permissible due to the resilient suspension of the holder 10 carrying the probe body 7.
By means of compressed air which is introduced into the cylinder 15, the piston 14 and the stop 13 attached to it are displaced, whereby the probe body 7 is guided perpendicular to the scale up to the stop on the two opposing balls 4. As a result of the positioning of the carriage 1, which is only roughly carried out, there is a displacement of the probe body and thus of the holder 10 parallel to the scale.
This shift is scanned by the measuring probes 22 and 23 and displayed on the dial indicators 24 and 25. The position of the slide 1 must now be readjusted until the dial gauges show that the spring parallelogram consisting of parts 10, 16, 17 and 18 and thus the probe body 7 has reached the zero position again. The slide 1 is thus set to the required coordinate 26.384 mm.
Although it is easily possible to carry out the operations mentioned by hand, it is expedient to use the known means of numerical control for this purpose. B. to use punch card, perforated tape or magnetic tape. In particular, it is expedient to operate the switching drums 33, 34, 43 and 44 by means of a pneumatic remote control system. Such a system is shown in FIG. 2, the actuation of the switching drum 43 being chosen as an example. A ratchet wheel 52 and a locking disk 53 are connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the indexing drum 43, which is rotatable on the axis 41.
The notches 54 of the locking disc, which are arranged in the same number and at the same angle as the teeth of the indexing wheel 52 and the final dimensions on the indexing drum, are used to fix the indexing drum 43 in the set position by means of a locking ball 55. This ball is on a leaf spring 56, which in turn is arranged in the housing 6. A plug 57, which is attached to a piston 58, is provided for cooperation with the teeth of the ratchet 52. This piston is located in a cylinder 59 fastened to the wall of the housing 6 and is loaded by a return spring 60.
By introducing compressed air into the cylinder 59, the piston is pushed to the right, so that the indexing wheel 52 and thus the indexing drum 43 are rotated by one indexing step in the clockwise direction. The new position of the switching drum is then secured, as is the previous one, by the catch ball 55 falling into the next catch 54. The compressed air required to actuate the piston 58 is supplied to the cylinder 59 through a line 61 which is connected to a three-way valve 62. The second connection of the three-balance valve 62 leads to the compressed air supply line 63, while the third, not shown, path leads to the open. To control the three-way valve 62, a switching wheel 64 is provided, which can be operated by means of the hand wheel 65.
The indexing wheel 64 has the same number of teeth as the indexing wheel 52 and is non-rotatably connected to the indicator disc 66 and the handwheel 65. The ratchet wheel 64, the hand wheel 65 and the indicator disc 66 are mounted in a bearing block 67 located on the housing 6. The actuating lever 68 of the three-way valve 62 is provided at its free end with a roller 69 which can roll on the circumference of the switching wheel 64. It can be seen from the drawing that with each rotation of the switching wheel 64 by one switching step, which is only possible in a clockwise direction, the lever 68 is pivoted counterclockwise in order to then fall back into the position shown.
First, the connection between the compressed air supply line 63 and the line 61 is established so that compressed air flows into the cylinder 59 and the plunger 57 attached to the piston 58 turns the indexing wheel 52 and thus the indexing drum 43 one shift step further.
When the lever 68 is lowered, the compressed air supply line 63 is shut off and the line 61 is connected to the atmosphere, so that the return spring 60 can return the piston 58 and the plunger 57 to the rest position. Markings corresponding to the lengths of the final dimensions arranged on the indexing drum 43 are attached to the display disc 66, so that a stationary mark 70 can be used to read which of the final dimensions is in the position of use.
The positioning device described is characterized by a simple structure, the principle of which can easily be overlooked by the operating personnel. For this reason, operating errors are almost impossible. The maintenance effort required to maintain the device is extremely low, and maintenance can be carried out by any precision mechanic. With the precision with which the balls, cylinders and final dimensions used to measure the slide position can be manufactured, a positioning accuracy of 1/1000 mm can easily be achieved.
The positioning device also offers the possibility, using the means customary for numerical control, to undertake any expansion in order to; to achieve extensive or complete automation of the positioning process.
