Process for the production of new diepoxides The present application relates to a process for the production of new diepoxides of the formula:
EMI1.1
The new Mepaxyd is obtained according to the invention by adding the diether of the formula
EMI1.2
epoxidized.
The diether of the formula II can be prepared by adding 1 mole of glycerol to 2 moles of dicyclopentadiene.
The C =C double bonds can be epoxidized by customary methods, preferably with the aid of organic peracids, such as peracetic acid, perbenzoic acid, peradipic acid, monoperphthalic acid. Etc.; mixtures of H2O2 and organic acids, such as formic acid, or acid anhydrides, such as acetic anhydride or succinic anhydride, can also be used. It is also possible to react with hypochlorous acid, with HOC1 being added to the double bond, and in a second stage under the action of HCl-releasing agents, e.g. B. strong alkalis that form epoxy groups.
The diepoxide obtained according to the invention reacts with the usual hardeners for epoxy compounds. It can therefore be crosslinked or cured in the same way as other polyfunctional epoxy compounds or epoxy resins by adding such hardeners.
Basic or, in particular, acidic compounds are suitable as such hardeners.
The following have proven to be suitable: amines or amides, such as aliphatic and aromatic primary, secondary and tertiary amines, e.g. B. p-phenylenediamine, bis [p-aminophenyl] methane, ethylenediamine, N, N-diethylethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, tetraoxyethyl] diethylenetriamine, triethylenetetramine, N, N-dimethylpropylenediamine, Mannich bases, such as tris [dimethylaminomethyl] phenidol, urea -Formaldehyde resins, melamine-; Formally hydharze, polyamides, e.g. B. those from aliphatic polyamines and the or trimerized, unsaturated fatty acids, polyhydric phenols, z. B.
Resorcinol, bis [4-oxyphenyl] dimethyl methane, phenol aldehyde resins, reaction products of aluminum alcoholates or phenolates with tautomeric compounds of the acetoacetic ester type, Friedel Crafts catalysts, e.g. B. AlCl3, SbCls, SnCl4, ZnCl2, BF5 and their complexes with organic compounds, metal fluoroborates such as zinc fluoroborate, phosphoric acid, boroxines such as trimethoxyboroxine. Preference is given to using polybasic carboxylic acids and their anhydrides as hardeners, e.g. B.
Phthalic anhydride, ffiMethylendomethylene tetrahydrophthalic anhydride, dodecenylsuccinic anhydride, hexahydrophthalic anhydride, hexachloroendomethylene tetrahydrophthalic anhydride or endomethylene tetrahydrophthalic anhydride or mixtures thereof; Maleic or succinic anhydride, you can optionally accelerators such as tertiary amines or strong Lewis bases, z. B. alkali metal alcoholates, also advantageously polyhydroxyl compounds such as hexanetriol, glycerol, also use.
When hardening the diepoxide mentioned with carboxylic acid anhydrides, it is advantageous to use only about 0.3 to 0.9 gram equivalent of anhydride groups for 1 gram equivalent of epoxide groups. When using basic accelerators, such as alkali alcoholates or alkali salts of carboxylic acids, up to 1.0 gram equivalent of anhydride groups can be used.
The term hardening as used herein means the conversion of the above diepoxide into an insoluble and infusible resin.
The curable mixtures of the aforementioned diepoxidized ether and curing agents for epoxy resins, such as preferably die or polycarboxylic anhydrides, also advantageously contain a proportion of the otherwise corresponding ether, the epoxy groups of which, however, are wholly or partially saponified to hydroxyl groups and / or other crosslinking polyhydroxyl compounds, such as Hexanetriol.
Of course, other epoxides can also be added to the diepoxide mentioned, such as. B.
Mono- or polyglycidyl ethers of mono- or polyalcohols, such as butyl alcohol, 1,4-butanediol or glycerol, or of mono- or polyphenols, such as resorcinol, bis-oxyphenyl] dimethyl methane or condensation products of aldehydes with phenols (novolaks), and also polyglycidyl esters of polycarboxylic acids , such as phthalic acid, and also aminopolyepoxides, as they are, for. B. obtained by dehydrohalogenation of reaction products of epihalohydrins and primary or secondary amines, such as n-butylamine, aniline or 4,4'-di [monomethylamino] diphenylmethane.
The said diepoxide or its mixtures with hardeners can also be mixed with fillers, plasticizers, coloring substances etc. in any phase before hardening. Asphalt, bitumen, glass fibers, mica, quartz powder, cellulose, kaolin, finely divided silica (AEROSIL) or metal powder can be used as extenders and fillers.
The mixtures of the diepoxide and hardeners mentioned can be used in the unfilled or filled state, optionally in the form of solutions or emulsions, as textile auxiliaries, laminating resins, paints, varnishes, dipping resins, casting resins, spreading, filling and leveling compounds, flooring compounds, insulation compounds for electrical engineering , Adhesives, molding compounds, etc. Like. As well as for the production of such agents.
In the following examples, parts are parts by weight, percentages are percentages by weight; the ratio of parts by weight to parts by volume is the same as that of the kilogram to the liter; the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
