Description

Rotary pump The present invention relates to a rotary pump with elliptical piston, used, for example, for thick or pasty materials.

The pump according to the invention is characterized by the fact that it comprises a casing comprising at its upper part a cover provided with a suction orifice and a discharge orifice, the cover forming the support of a semi-cylindrical shutter that can oscillate transversely,

the longitudinal edges of the shutter being continuously in contact with the wall of a piston of elliptical section, the shutter being provided with a sealed cylindrical head, housed in the support and constituting the axis of oscillation.

The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of the rotary pump object of the invention, given by way of example.

Fig. 1 is a longitudinal sectional elevation view of the pump in its suction position. Fig. 2 is a sectional view, similar to FIG. 1, showing the pump in the material compression position carried out in the lower part of the crankcase.

The fie. 3 is a sectional view, similar to FIGS. 1 and 2, showing the piston in the material discharge position.

Fig. 4 is a cross section taken on the line IV-IV of FIG. 2, the pump.

The rotary pump, in the embodiment shown, comprises a molded casing 1 in which is housed a rotary piston 2, the casing having a circular shape extending over about two-thirds of the revolution of the piston 2. The part upper casing 1, in the form of a chimney, is provided with a cover 3 comprising two orifices, including a suction orifice 4 and a discharge orifice 5.

The rotary piston 2, of section: elliptical, is provided with a sealed shaft 6 actuated by conventional means.

A transverse shutter 7, in the form of a shell with a semi-cylindrical section, is provided with a cylindrical head 8, forming an axis of oscillation, the head being housed in a support 9, forming part of the cover 3.

The pump described operates as follows: the liquid charged, for example, from the valve, is sucked into the pump through the port 4 and falls into the housing 1 (fig. 1). The shutter 7, constantly pressing through the edges of its two lower extremities on the wall of the rotary piston 2, prevents material from spilling into the discharge compartment of the casing.

When the piston 2 occupies the horizontal position shown in FIG. 2 and that it moves by turning in the direction of the arrow, it compresses all the quantity of material introduced into the casing 1 and drives it @ towards the discharge compartment (fig. 3) by forcing it out of the casing through hole 5.

In fact, the other face of the shutter 7 prevents the material from returning to the suction compartment.

It should be noted that on the one hand, the shutter 7 rests without particular force on the walls of the rotary piston 2 whatever the successive positions that this piston occupies and that on the other hand, the reciprocating movement of the shutter prevents wear of the parts in contact.

The advantages of the pump described are in particular a simplification in its construction, a reduction in weight and a reduction in the size of the pump. In addition,

as the pump can be made of molded materials that are unalterable and above all resistant to acids and that it has no internal mechanical part,

its use can be extended to many industries and in particular to all those intended to treat more or less pasty or corrosive materials.
