Device comprising a slide subjected to a thrust spring
and a mechanism to release this slide
The present invention relates to a device comprising a slide subjected to a thrust spring and a mechanism for releasing this slide, this mechanism being formed by a set of levers and a trigger and the slide having an active part through which the action of the The released slide is transmitted to an element to be projected.
This device is characterized by the fact that said mechanism is constituted by a first lever, one edge of which engages, in the armed position, with a corresponding edge of the slide, this lever being mounted on a second lever fixed to pivot on an integral axis of the frame of the mechanism, said second lever abutting by its free end against a stop element under the action of a third lever pivoted on an axis and on the free end of which said detent rests, all so that when the trigger is actuated, the second lever released from the pressure of the third lever rocks under the effect of the force applied to the slide by the thrust spring and releases the latter.
The accompanying drawings show, by way of example, one embodiment of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a sectional elevation thereof, where the slide is shown in the armed position and in the released position.
Fig. 2 is a partial plan view, showing several mechanisms aligned on a common support.
In the drawing, (1) is a percussion head, one face of which has a striker (2) and the other of which is secured to a rod (3) slidably mounted in a nut (4) screwed into a frame (5) of the device. The head (1) is subjected to the action of a spring (6) tending to move it in the direction of an element (7) forming a stop and pierced in its central part with a shaped opening corresponding to the striker (2 ). This element also constitutes the bottom of a chamber (8a) of a support (8) in which a cartridge, not shown, is inserted.
The head (1) and its firing pin (2) are held in the armed position by a lever (10) articulated at (lOa) on a second lever (11) pivoted on an axis (lla) integral with the frame (5), a part of the lever (11) being cut to form a foot (they) by which the lever (11) is held pressed against an inclined facet (7a) that the element (7) presents, under the action of a lever (12) ) on the right end of which is engaged a trigger (13). This trigger blocks the lever (12) under the action of a spring (13d) against a stop (14).
The trigger can be operated by remote control by powering an electromagnet (15) which attracts the armature (13a) of the trigger (13); the lever (11) is then no longer locked by the lever (12). The force produced by the spring (6) on the head (1) which is transmitted to the lever (11) by the lever (10) then causes the tilting of this lever in the anti-clockwise direction and the unlocking of the head ( 1) by the element (10) so that this head can move to the left in the housing of the element (7) under the action of the spring (6), the striker (2) striking the base d 'a cartridge arranged in the chamber (8).
When the mechanism has operated, the striker can be cocked again against the action of the spring (6). Return springs (lob, 12d and 13d) return the lever (10), respectively the lever (12) actuating the lever (il), as well as the trigger (13) in position.
In practice, several mechanisms can be placed side by side as shown in fig. 2, each mechanism being capable of being controlled individually. For this purpose, the frames (5) of the strikers fixed to the end of the rods (3) can be mounted on the support (8) in which the chambers (8a) are formed in the extension of each device.
The device shown and described is particularly intended for marking the roadway by spots of coloring powder; such a marking can in fact be useful for determining, for example, the distance traveled by a vehicle between the moment when the braking of this vehicle is controlled and the moment of its stop. Of course, this vehicle will then be fitted with two similar devices, the first of which can be, for example, controlled by the brake pedal and the second by an oscillating mass stopping in a vertical position when the vehicle comes to a stop.
With such a device, it is also possible to measure the average speed of a vehicle, by associating the projection of a dye with the starting or stopping of a chronometer; the time separating the actuation of two devices corresponds to that which was used to cover the distance separating two successive marks on the roadway.
The device described could very well be adapted to uses other than that envisaged, in particular the head (1) could be intended to carry out the projection of bodies of all kinds. The electromagnetic actuation of the trigger could also be replaced by a mechanical or manual actuation.
