Process for the preparation of new azo dyes It has been found that valuable dyes are obtained if dyes of the formula
EMI0001.0008
where R is the remainder of an azo group-free diazo component, one Y is a hydrogen atom, the other Y is an SO, H group, n is a positive integer not exceeding 2 and m is a positive integer not exceeding 3,
with diazotized aminobenzene-o-sulfonic acids.
The starting dyes can be prepared using trihalo-1,3,5-triazines, in particular 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine, on the one hand with an amino monoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0021
where R and n have the meaning given in the explanation of the formula (1) and m is a whole positive number with a value of at most 3, and on the other hand with 1-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-3,6- or -4,6- Condense disulfonic acid in such a way that halogen-containing triazine condensation products are formed.
For the preparation of the dyes of formula (2) come as coupling components such. B. 2-methoxy-1-aminonaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid and especially 1-aminonaphthalene-6- or -7-sulfonic acid into consideration.
The diazo components to be coupled with these coupling components can be water-solubilizing and non-water-solubilizing, e.g. B. contain strongly acidic water-solubilizing substituents such as sulphonic acid groups. These D.iazo components can also be relatively simple compounds, e.g.
B. aminobenzenes and their sulfonic acids, anunonaphthalenesulfonic acids, aminopyrene or -chrysenesulfonic acids or aminonaphtholsulfonic acids as well as more complicated diazotizable compounds, which, however, must not contain azo groups.
Examples of amines whose diazo compounds can be used for coupling with the specified azo components containing acylatable amino groups include, for example, the following:
1 aminobenzene 2-, -3- or -4-sulfonic acid, 1-aminobenzene-2-, -3- or -4-carboxylic acid, 2 amino-1-methoxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid, 1 amino-4-methoxybenzene-2- sulfonic acid, 3-amino-2-oxybenzoic acid-5-sulfonic acid, 3-amino-6-oxybenzoic acid-5-sulfonic acid, 2-methoxy- or 2-methyl-1-aminobenzene-4-sulfonic acid, 5-acetylamino-2-aminobenzene -l-sulfonic acid, 4 acetylamino-2-aminobenzene-l-sulfonic acid,
4 acetylamino-2-methyl-5-methoxy-1-aminobenzene, 5-acetylamino- or 5-benzoylamine, o-2-aminobenzene-1-carboxylic acid, 5-amino-2-methylbenzoic acid, 2,4-dimethyl-1 -aminobenzene-6-sulfonic acid, 2-methyl-4-chloro-1-aminobenzene-6-sulfonic acid, 2 aminobenzoic acid-4- or -5-sulfonic acid, 1 aminonaphthalene-4-, -5-, -6- or -7 -sulfonic acid, 2-aminonaphthalene 4-, -6-, -7- or -8-sulfonic acid,
1 aminonaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid, 1 aminobenzene-2,5-disulfonic acid, 2, aminonaphthalene-4,8-, -5,7- or -6,8-disulfonic acid, 1- (3'- or 4 '-Aminobenzoyl) -aminobenzene-3-sulfonic acid, 3-aminopyrene-8- or -10-monosulfonic acid, 3-aminopyrene-5, 8- or -5,10-disulfonic acid, 4-nitro-4'-aminostilbene-2,2 '-disulfonic acid,
also O acyl derivatives of aminonaphtholsulfonic acids; z. B. the O-acyl derivatives of 1-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-3,6- or -4,6-disulfonic acid, dehydrothiotoluidine mono- or disulfonic acid, etc.
The coupling of the z. B. with the help of mineral acid, especially hydrochloric acid, and sodium nitrite he obtained diazo compounds with the aminonaphthalenesulfonic acids mentioned can be carried out according to methods known per se.
The condensation of 1-amino-8-oxynaphthaa- 3,6- or -4,6-disulfonic acid and the aminomonoazo dyes of the formula (2) with a trihalotriazine is expediently carried out using acid-binding agents such as sodium carbonate or sodium hydroxide and under such conditions that an exchangeable halogen atom still remains in the finished product, that is, e.g.
B. in organic solvents or at relatively low temperatures in an aqueous medium.
The diazotization and coupling of the aminobenzene-o-sulfonic acid can be carried out by methods which are customary per se.
The new dyes obtained according to the invention are suitable for dyeing and printing a wide variety of materials, such as wool, silk, leather and superpolyamides, but especially cellulosic materials of a fibrous structure, such as linen, regenerated cellulose and especially cotton.
They are particularly suitable for dyeing by the so-called pad dyeing process, according to which the goods are impregnated with aqueous and possibly also salt-containing dye solutions and the dyes are fixed after an alkali treatment, preferably with heat.
This process and the direct dyeing method, which can also be used with many of the dyes obtained according to the present process, result in valuable, washfastly fixed dyeings, while true prints are obtained after the printing process.
The dyeings and prints obtainable on cellulose-containing fibers with the new dyes are generally characterized by good lightfastness and, above all, excellent wetfastnesses, in particular very good washfastness.
In the following example, unless otherwise specified, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Example 22.3 parts of 1 aminonaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid are stirred with 300 parts of cold water and 100 parts of ice, 25 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid are added and the mixture is diazotized with 7.1 parts of sodium nitrite. As soon as the diazotization has ended, the pH 7 solution of 22,
3 parts of 1 aminonaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid in 200 parts of water at a temperature of 5 to 10 flow in. The clutch ends after a few hours.
The dye can be separated out by felling with sodium chloride. The aminoazonaphthalene disulphonic acid formed is condensed with cyanuric chloride and the primary condensation product is isolated. After this condensation product has been resuspended in 600 parts of water, the neutralized solution of 31.9 parts of 1-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid in 200 parts of water is added.
The temperature is set to 40 and the pH is kept at 5.5 to 6 by slowly adding dilute alkali metal hydroxide solution. As soon as the condensation has ended, 30 parts of sodium carbonate are added and, at 0 to 5, the diazo compound from 17 is coupled , 3 parts of 1-aminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid. The dye is precipitated with sodium chloride, isolated by filtration and getrock net. It dyes the cellulose fiber in real red tones.
Following the process of the above example, very similar dyes can be prepared by coupling the specified diazo compounds of column III with the condensation product of cyanuric chloride with the compounds of columns I and II; the shade of the dyeings and prints achieved on cotton with the dye thus obtained are given in column IV.
