Dans une seconde forme d'exécution, le corps s'étend. radialenent et axia:lement vers l'extérieur de la partie centrale et il est incurvé axi;
Wheel and method for its manufacture The present invention relates to a wheel, for example for carts used to transport golf clubs or goods in a self-service store or for toys, and a method for the manufacture of this. wheel.
The wheel forming the subject of the present invention is characterized in that it comprises a body and a rim integrally molded from a rigid thermoplastic synthetic resinous composition and comprising an annular flexible part arranged so as to give elasticity. radial to the rim.
The flexible part can be formed at the same time as the annular part of the body is formed. In cross section, the body may be of uniform thickness or it may be thinner in the flexible part than in the remaining part. The annular flexible part is preferably formed by an outer radial portion of the body.
This outer portion may be curved, for example, to form a flexible structure. This structure may have a curved part on 1800. In a shape.
Execution of the wheel, the annular flexible part curves axially inwards with respect to the wheel from the peripheral part of the body. The flexible part may have a semi-circular cross section.
In a second embodiment, the body extends. radial and axially outwardly from the central part and it is axially curved;
inwardly to form the flexible part. This can be formed by pressing the body outward in an axial direction from the rest of said body.
The flexible part can comprise a repeated flexible structure and / or several flexible parts can be included in the body. The rim can be a continuation of the flexible part. For example, the rim can be the continuation in the axial direction of the flexible part.
The rim may be formed so as to hold a tire in the usual manner between two raised edges or by means of a hook extension embedded in the tire.
The bandage can be solid or padded. A solid tire can be made of natural or synthetic rubber molded onto the rim, for example, or by extrusion of a tape: cut from a piece of suitable length and placed around the rim.
The wheel can be molded from a single sheet of the resinous composition. Any known molding technique can be used for such a composition, for example injection molding or compression molding,
but preferably a pressure molding of a fluid such as vacuum or blow molding is used. Normally,
the resinous composition is hot softened before molding. A separate hub can be formed from the same or other similar material. This hub can be joined to the wheel by hard welding or by adhesive, for example.
An advantageous method consists in making a weld by rotation, the two parts being kept in contact and one of them rotating rapidly with respect to the,
other. The heat produced melts a part of the composition on each surface and a bond is established by cooling. A socket for one axle, nylon or metal, can be fitted to the center of the wheel and / or hub.
Among the thermoplastic synthetic resin compositions which can be used, mention may be made of vinyl polymers and polyolefins, as well as copolymers for molding a diene with at least one monoene. Among the vinyl polymers, polyvinyl chloride is well suited.
One of the copolymers mentioned above can advantageously be a copolymer of acryionitrile, butadiene and styrene. The resinous composition must be chosen for its properties of lightness, strength and rigidity, combined: with uniform elasticity sufficient for the finished wheel.
The thickness of the material making up the wheel can be variable in order to ensure an appropriate balance between resistance on the one hand and elasticity under a given load on the other hand.
The body of the wheel, with the exception of the flexible part, may have radial ribs and have a fluted structure to increase the resistance of the wheel.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, four embodiments of the wheel which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial section of the first embodiment; fig. 2 is an axial section of the second embodiment; fig. 3 is a partial section of the third embodiment, and FIG. 4 is a partial section of the fourth embodiment.
Each of the embodiments shown comprises a body 1 and a rim 2 formed in one piece from a single sheet of a rigid thermoplastic synthetic resinous composition. Each wheel further comprises an annular flexible part 3. The rim 2 is a continuation in the axial direction of the flexible part 3.
The wheel shown in fig. 1 comprises at its central part a bearing comprising an annular housing 4 extending axially outwardly from the surface of the body and having at one end a groove 5 cut into the radially inner surface of the housing and a lip annular 6 directed radially inward. A nylon bush 7 is fixed inside the housing 4 by means of an annular flange 8 which engages in the groove 5 abuts against the lip-6.
The wheel body is curved from the bearing both radially and axially outward in the same direction as the housing 4 to form a cup 9. The edge of the cup 9 is turned radially outward but axially outward. inside to form a re-entrant part 10.
The wheel extends from the re-entrant part 10 both radially and, to a lesser extent, axially outward to form a broad conical part 11 which continues radially outwardly through a peripheral part 12. .
The annular flexible part 3, which has a substantially semi-circular cross section,
is axially bent inward from the peripheral part. The rim 2 extends axially inward from the axially innermost surface of the flexible part 3 and ends with a raised edge 13 representing a radius of curvature similar to that of the flexible part 3. A solid tire 14 , in rubber, formed by an extruded tape, is mounted around the wheel on the rim 2.
The band 14 is appreciably wider than the rim 2 and has curved recesses 15 on both sides of its base which correspond to the curved surface of the flexible part 3 and the flange 13.
A hub 16 comprising a molded plate 17 and an inclined annular peripheral extension 18 is fixed to the body 1 in a contact zone between the internal surface of the extension 18 and the external surface of the re-entrant part 10 of the body 1. The hub 16 comprises - in its center a bearing aligned axially with the bearing of the wheel.
The hub bearing 16 includes a short annular housing 19 extending axially outward from the face of the hub and having an annular groove 20 cut into the radial inner surface of the housing and an annular lip 21 directed radially toward the hub. interior. A nylon sleeve 22 is fixed inside the housing by means of an annular flange 23 which engages in the groove 20 and abuts against the lip 21.
When the wheel is used, an axle is threaded through the bearings of the body 1 and of the hub 16. The tire 14 rolling on the ground supports the rim 2 which is radically elastic as a result of the deformation of the flexible part 3. A further elasticity is due to the deformation of the body around the re-entrant part 10, so that the latter part acts as a secondary bending structure.
The wheel shown in fig. 2 comprises in its central part a bearing comprising a short annular housing 24 extending axially outwardly from the face of the body 1 and having a groove 24 'and a lip 24 "for fixing a nylon bush 25 in the manner described for the first embodiment.
The body 1 extends radially outward from the bearing, forming a disc 26. At the periphery of this disc 26, which is moved slightly outside the plane of the central part of the disc, the body 1 turns axially. outwards to form a cylindrical part 27.
From the cylindrical portion 27, the body comprises a rod portion 28 extending radially outwardly and comprising radial ribs 29 alternating with radial recesses 30 in V. The annular flexible portion 3 is formed by blowing the body both radially and axially outward from the periphery of the spline portion 28 and by bending the body back both radially and axially inward from <RTI
ID = "0002.0153"> so that the flexible part has a cross section. in C, the upper half of this section being substantially semicircular. The rim 2 extends axially inwardly from the axially innermost surface of the flexible part 3 and has at its end a raised edge 31 disposed substantially in the plane of the disc 26.
A solid rubber tire 32 is mounted around the wheel on the rim 2 and held in place between the flexible part 3 and the raised edge 31.
A hub 33 comprising a cylindrical part 34 and a flat end part 35 is fixed to the wheel in a contact area with the outer surface of the cylindrical part 27. The flat part 35 has at its center a bearing comprising a short annular housing 36 extending axially outward from the outer surface <B> of </B> the planar part and having a groove 37 and a lip 38 for receiving a nylon bushing 39 as described for first embodiment.
When the wheel is used, an axle is threaded in the bearings of the body 1 and of the hub 33. The tire 32 rolling on the ground supports the rim 2 which is radially elastic thanks to the deformation of the flexible part 3.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 3 differs from that shown in FIG. 2 by the fact that the body 1 is a disc and does not include a splined part, and that the annular flexible part 3 is formed by a more gradual blowing outwards with a curvature of a small radius towards the inside from the body.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 4, the rim 2 comprises an extension 40 in the form of a hook which is embedded in a solid rubber tire 41. The flexible part 3 is formed by a weak blowing towards the outside with a curvature towards the inside of the body, no portion of the flexible part being turned axially inward.
