Protection device for motor vehicles The invention relates to a protection device for motor vehicles in the form of a protective weir or parapet arranged along the road. Such a parapet has the task of holding back a vehicle that has come out of the road. There are already such devices in the form of a guardrail arranged along the edge of the road. Steel cables and nets are also used for this purpose.
At moderate speed of the vehicle, the known devices fill their purpose by dampening the impact of the vehicle and allowing it to slide along the rail. At higher speeds, however, the known devices have the effect that the vehicle is thrown back after the impact and possibly ends up in the middle of the street or on the opposite side of the street. As a result, in addition to the vehicle involved in the accident, all road traffic at the scene of the accident is also at risk.
Recognizing these circumstances, the inventor has set himself the task of creating a protective device for motor vehicles that not only restrains the impinging vehicle, but allows it to continue traveling only along the parapet and at the same time causes an inevitable braking of the vehicle.
A solution to this problem is seen according to the invention in that a groove serving as a wheel guide of the motor vehicle is seen in the parapet.
The effect of this groove is that when the motor vehicle crosses the roadside border with at least one wheel, it tracks into the groove and inevitably continues to drive in this groove. This achieves strong braking of the vehicle.
However, other devices can also be provided which prevent the vehicle from tipping over and reduce the vehicle speed by resilient means. In this way, the occupants of the vehicle are protected from the consequences of an accident without the assistance of the vehicle driver. There is a practical increase between the roadside and the groove. It is also advantageous if a protective wall or guardrail adjoins the side of the groove facing away from the road.
Resilient devices for damping the impact of the motor vehicle can also be provided on the parapet. For example, resilient planks or stretched wire ropes are arranged along the breast within the vehicle height. The planks or the ropes are connected to a weight load, for example via a cable pull.
Exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawing. 1 shows a protection device in section for an arrangement on the roadside, FIG. 2 shows a protection device for an arrangement in the median of the road with separate lanes, FIG.
In its simplest form, the protective device according to FIG. 1 consists of a cement block 1 that is either poured on site or composed of transportable pieces. With a heightening 2, the block protrudes above street level 3. Reinforcement 4 in the form of a metal rail covers the increase 2. The essential feature is the groove 5, the width of which is slightly larger than the tires of a motor vehicle wheel. The senseite of the groove 5 forms a slightly inclined wall 6, which serves as a guardrail and prevents the wheel from jumping out of the groove.
For streets that have median strips between separate Fahrbah NEN, a Schutzvorrich device according to Fig. 2 can be formed. A groove 8 or 9 is provided on each side of the cement block 7. The middle wall 10 serves as a guardrail on both Be th and also carries masts 11, at the upper end of which two movable arms 12, 13 are arranged so that a ver connected to the arms plank 14 or a wire rope 15 when a vehicle hits a weight Lift 17 using a cable 16.
The weight 17 exerts a counter pressure so that the vehicle cannot tip over.
The concrete block 18 according to FIG. 3 contains, in addition to the grooves 19, 20, steps 21, 22 and 23, 24. In this way, the double wheels 25, 26 of the rear axle 27 have space to the side of the groove. Since the double wheels 25, 26 are inclined obliquely towards the roadway, the outwardly acting forces are partially canceled. The front wheel 28 revolving in the groove 19 slides down on the bevel 29 and assumes an inclined position opposite to the rear wheels 25, 26. Here through and as a result of the ge inclined wall 30 is prevented that the front derrad 28 can leave the groove 19 again. Between the grooves 19. 20, a wall 31 is pulled up, which serves as a parapet.
Along the groove 19 contacts 32 are angeord net, which close an elec tric circuit when a wheel meshes and trigger an alarm device or a light signal 33 at the accident site or at a remote reporting point can illuminate and thus indicate the accident. The depth of the grooves 19, 20 expediently depends on the largest existing wheels. If a smaller wheel 34 falls into the groove 20, the axis 35 will be looping on the step 24. Although this can lead to damage to the axis 35, which, however, are irrelevant in view of the avoidance of accidents.
In order to prevent the steps 21, 24 from being damaged, they are reinforced with metal rails 36, 37.
