Es ist wichtig, dass das inerte Gas, vorzugsweise Dampf, derart zugeführt wird, dass sich eine reine und gleichmässige Schicht davon auf der Oberfläche der Spinndüsenplatte ausbildet;
Apparatus for melt-spinning synthetic linear polymer The present invention relates to an improvement of the apparatus according to patent claim II of the main patent for melt-spinning synthetic linear polymer.
In the main patent, a melt spinning process for synthetic linear polymers was described, according to which molten polymer is extruded through one or more openings of a spinneret plate, which is characterized in that immediately below the spinneret plate in a continuous and uniform manner a practically homogeneous and laterally not a limited flat layer of an inert gas is maintained which is in contact with the entire surface of the spinneret plate.
According to a particular embodiment of the method, steam is advantageously used as the inert gas, preferably steam superheated to close to the temperature of the spinneret, which is introduced converging inwardly from the edge of the surface of the spinneret plate.
The main patent also describes a device for carrying out the process, which is characterized by a source of molten polymer, a metering pump for conveying the polymer to and through a filter and then through one or more openings of a spinneret plate,
Means for continuously supplying an inert gas to the surface of the spinneret plate from which the polymer exits, which means are designed to supply the gas in a continuous and uniform manner, so that a practically homogeneous and laterally unlimited flat layer of the gas is maintained can, which is in contact with the entire surface of the spinneret plate.
The means mentioned preferably have a slot surrounding the spinneret plate.
It is important that the inert gas, preferably steam, is supplied in such a way that a pure and uniform layer of it is formed on the surface of the spinneret plate;
it is also just as important that the gas supply is regular, i. H. takes place all around in an uninterrupted stream of constant speed and does not interfere with the free flow of the filaments from the spinning nozzle plate openings and the filaments can enter the cooling medium as quickly as possible.
So that the desired uniformity of the gas flow is better guaranteed, you can attach a vapor diffuser ring lying on or within the mentioned ring slot; but such a ring can be damaged more easily than other frame parts, especially if it is attached to the opening of the slot, where it is smeared with polymer and thus partially inoperative.
Improvements in this regard were described in an additional patent, it being stated that above all the steam should be relaxed to atmospheric pressure before reaching the surface of the spinneret plate. Such a state can be achieved by z.
B. the measuring opening for the steam supply line is attached in such a way that the steam between this opening and the spinneret plate is practically completely relaxed.
It has now been found that an improvement in the device, with or without the addition of a steam distribution ring, but preferably without one, and regardless of whether the steam is at atmospheric or higher pressure when approaching the nozzle plate surface, can be achieved if for An annular distribution of the steam around the upper part of the package is ensured in such a way that a virtually even steam flow is guaranteed on all sides,
before it penetrates into the interior of the annular slot, so that an uninterrupted flow of steam is ensured at the opening of the slot.
The inventive improvement of the device according to claim 1I of the main patent, which contains a feed container for the molten polymer and the metering pump for conveying the polymer from the container to and through a filter which forms a package with the spinneret plate,
which is fitted in a recess, with the parts surrounding the package forming an annular slot and just below the spinneret plate means open out for supplying an inert gas passing through the slot to the outside of the package and to the outlet side of the spinneret plate in a continuous flow, is thereby marked that these means are provided with a plurality of openings at equal distances from each other around the outside of the package,
where in these openings lead from the upper part of the recess into a slot adjacent the ring-shaped space.
Examples of implementation of the invention are discussed below with reference to the drawing. Preferably, the annular intermediate space is chosen to be long enough and the number of openings large enough so that there is a guarantee that the individual gas streams from the openings flow together to form an uninterrupted stream at the slot mouth, thereby eliminating the need for any additional distribution means, such as B. a nozzle ring in the slot, having to make use, can be disregarded.
In the drawing, Fig. 1 shows a partial view of a section through a filter of a spinneret assembly.
FIG. 2 is a schematic plan view of the spinning nozzle assembly or package.
The steam supply line 1 is drilled through the metal block 3 of a melt spinning unit and leads into a recess 5 in which the filter plate and the spinneret plate in the package 7 are fitted. The package is only indicated and the spinneret plate located therein is shown schematically by 9.
A throttle screw 11, through which a metering opening 13 leads, is attached to the outlet opening of the line 1.
The package 7 is firmly screwed into the working position within the recess 5 by means of a threaded ring 15. The jaw of the threaded ring 15 presses against a correspondingly shaped flange 17 of the package housing. Immediately above the contact surface, a plurality of openings 19 is drilled through the flange 17 at the same distance from one another, through which openings the steam can pass evenly from the upper part of the recess into the annular cavity 21.
This annular inter mediate space expands towards its mouth near the spinneret plate, and the direction of the cavity walls is bent inward towards the center of the spinneret plate, so that the steam is also directed inward towards the center point of the plate 9.
The shoulder of the package 7 is beveled to facilitate the passage of steam around the top of the package.
In operation, under a pressure of z. B. 0.57 atm through the channel 13 introduced steam, the amount of which is determined by the diameter of the channel. The steam fills the upper part of the recess 5 around the upper piece of the package and passes through the openings 19 into the annular space 21. In the vicinity of the mouth of this space, its direction and thus the steam flow bends evenly from all sides towards the center the spinneret plate.
As a result, these filaments emerging from the nozzle openings 23 (see FIG. 2) are completely washed around dig by an atmosphere of pure, non-tur bulentem steam in a thin layer when leaving the nozzle plate.
