B. Stahlschrot, be steht.
Brake drum with a damping device for the braking noise The invention relates to a brake drum with a damping device for the braking noise, in particular for motor vehicles.
To dampen brake noises, it is known to see the brake drums on the outer circumference with spiral springs or pipes filled with sand.
A brake drum with a damping device is also known in which a helically running groove is machined into the friction surface of the drum, the pitch of which corresponds approximately to a thread of the width of the friction surface.
Brake drums are also used for this purpose, the open end of which is covered by a brake support plate and in which a ge slotted, resilient ring is inserted into a groove on the open end of the brake drum.
The present invention relates to a brake drum with a damping device for the braking noise and consists in that on the outer circumference of the brake drum at least one cavity running in the circumferential direction is provided, which is filled with a loose, fine-grained, non-caking damping mass of high specific weight .
Appropriately, the cavity is either formed by a groove in the drum circumference, which is covered by a welded sheet metal strip, or by a tightly fitting, annularly curved tube on the drum circumference, where the damping mass consists of metal shot.
The subject of the invention is shown in two exemplary embodiments in the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a radial section through the brake drum in one embodiment, and Fig. 2 is a developed view in the arrow direction of FIG. 3 shows a side view of the damping device, partially in section, in the other embodiment.
Figure 4 is a cross-section of Figure 3 along the line A-A.
According to FIG. 1, the brake drum 1 has on its outer circumference the two grooves 2 and 3 running parallel to one another in the circumferential direction. However, there are also versions possible, please include in which only one groove or more than two grooves are provided. The sheet metal strip 5 welded together at both longitudinal ends 4 (FIG. 2) covers the grooves 2 and 3. At the welding point of the two ends 4, the opening 6 is provided, which is intended for filling the damping mass 7, which is made of heavy metal, e.g. B. steel shot, be available.
After the damping compound 7 has been filled in, the opening 6 is closed with the cover 8 and the edge of the opening and the cover are then welded together.
In Fig. 3, the tube 20, the cross section of which is shown in Fig. 4, is bent annularly and arranged closely on the outer periphery of the brake drum 21 and attached to this device 22 immovable by means of the Spannvorrich. The plugs 23 are welded to the pipe 20. Their free ends 24 are designed in such a way that they rest on the circumference 25 of the brake drum 21, so that only tensile forces act on the tube 20.
The filling of the grooves 2 and 3 or the pipe res 20 is such that a space of a few cm3 remains free and the damping mass 7 or 9 can move continuously during operation.
