Sorting system for documents, in particular letters, with one or more sorting stations. The invention relates to a system for sorting documents, in particular letters.
The sorting process plays an essential role in the postal service, so that the sorting system on which the invention is based is primarily intended for this purpose, although it can also be used in the same way for sorting documents in other companies.
Because of the large volume of mail, it is necessary to put several workplaces, each with one person, into operation at the same time. These workplaces are expediently arranged in a row, and each workplace is supplied with the items to be sorted from a central point. At each sorting station there is the entrance to an outgoing conveyor system, which leads over switches to collection points that are assigned to the respective distinguishing features of the letters.
The mail items to be sorted are continuously displayed at the sorting stations; and in the rhythm of the actuation of the control mechanism for the Wei chen individually brought into a reading field in which the Sortieret can read the destination of the letter, whereupon he, for example with a keyboard, gives the characteristics of the destination on a control system. The shipment then leaves the reading field and is replaced by a subsequent shipment. The letter emerging from the reading field arrives on a conveyor system and from there to the collection points.
The problems of the sorting systems occur to a large extent between the entrance of this conveyor system and the corresponding collection points. As long as the number of collection points can be kept low and only a single sorting point is available, the collection points can be arranged near the sorting point, which can be done without difficulties.
If, on the other hand, the number of collection points is so large that they take up a large amount of space and require access routes, especially if there are several sorting stations, the individual mail items must be provided with the sorting features or placed in containers on which the sorting mark - times can be set, or the sorting features must be stored on the corresponding switches until the corresponding document arrives there.
The first method requires a very high mechanical effort, in particular with regard to setting or applying the sorting features on the containers or on the letters and with regard to the device for scanning or reading the features, while the other method requires a high level of electrical effort and expense heavy use of the system, i.e. if there are a lot of letters on the conveyor system at the same time, does not guarantee that it will work properly.
It is an object of the invention to avoid these difficulties and disadvantages in the known arrangements.
The invention relates to a sorting system for documents, in particular for letters, with one or more sorting stations controlled by operators and with upright conveyor systems for feeding the documents to the sorting stations and for discharging them to the individual collection points assigned to the respective distinguishing features of the documents,
in which each sorting station at the exit of the delivering conveyor system has a device for feeding the documents individually into a reading field in the field of vision of the sorter.
The sorting system is characterized in that a single upright conveyor channel runs diagonally from the sorting station over a multi-channel conveyor line running to the individual collection points, whereby the upright conveyor channel can be connected to the individual channels of the multi-channel conveyor system via switches that can be controlled from the sorting station.
The invention is described below using an exemplary embodiment, the drawings of which in Fig. 1 represent the funding scheme, in Fig. 2 the arrangement of the workplaces and conveyor lines and in Fig. 3 switch distribution lines with the slides and the multiple upright conveyor line for collecting Sam in a perspective view, bring.
With this sorting system, it is possible to keep the path from the sorting station to the switches enabling the connection of the discharge conveyor channel with the channels of the collecting conveyor line so short that there is practically only a single letter on the individual channel in front of the switch be can find.
In most cases, there is no need to save the license plates. The switches are controlled immediately when the control device is operated at the sorting station, which means that the letter is also sent to the individual conveying channel at the same time.
It thus arrives in the shortest possible time in the relevant conveyor channel of the multi-channel system, which leads directly to the associated collection point. In order to further increase the sorting speed or in order not to have to limit the length of the individual conveyor channel, the identifier can also be saved.
The multi-channel conveyor line 4 of the sorting system leading to the collection points runs past all the sorting stations 2, and the feeding individual upright conveyor channels 3 are above this multi-channel system and their switches 5 are connected to the individual channels by chutes 7.
The exit of the feeding conveyor system 1 to the sorting station 2 and the entrance of the outgoing individual channel 3 at each sorting station run at right angles to one another. The individual channel 3, however, runs diagonally over the multi-channel conveyor system 4, so that there the shipment only needs to be deflected slightly out of its direction.
The sorter thus either scans the switch itself or a memory device at the workplace by reading the address and determining the associated identifier, or it scans in features of the address that are recoded by a converter, which also causes the associated switch is provided.
The sorting system requires a special channel of the multi-channel conveyor line for each collecting container connected. The largest number of collecting containers is therefore equal to the largest possible number of channels in these conveyor lines. If more distinguishing features and thus more collecting containers are desired than can be accommodated in channels, the system is used for pre-sorting. In connection with the subsequent fine sorting systems, the number of distinctions and the collection containers is practically unlimited.
In Fig. 2 you can see the staggered list of jobs 2. In the drawing, only three jobs are shown, each at the output of the delivering conveyor channel 1 have a device for individually feeding the documents in a field in the face of the sorter reading field. The number of workstations to be set up depends on the volume of letters and the processing time that is available. The passage of the letters is indicated by arrows.
In Fig. 3, two switch distribution routes 3 are shown, which distribute the delivered letters on six upright conveyor routes. When the letter is entered in channel 3, one of the switches 5 is set. If there is a long way from the sorting station to the switch, the switch is actuated via a storage device. As soon as a letter 6 has arrived shortly before the diverter 5, the diverter tongue folds over and the letter reaches the conveying channel 4 via the chute 7.
Each channel can end in a collecting container 8 - or forklift - from which the sorted conveyed items can then be removed. At the end, the channel 3 can also open into a collecting container (not shown), which receives the mail items for which the operator has set an identifier for which no collecting container is provided.
