Electrical switch The subject of the present invention is an electrical switch with a fixed contact element and a leaf-shaped contact spring, wel che back and forth between the fixed contact element and a stop and is connected by a spring to a drive member, which is due to changes in a physical quantity, such as temperature, pressure, water level, etc., shifts the direction of the force of the spring so
that the contact spring instantly tilts from one pivot position to the other.
Switches of the type mentioned are known and have the advantage that no arc occurs as a result of creeping opening or closing of the electrical circuit. A certain disadvantage of the known designs, however, lies in the relatively large difference between the value of the physical variable acting on the drive element causing the switch to open and close.
If this size changes from bottom to top, the switch is not operated with the same value of the size as when the size changes from top to bottom. With the help of the known switches, therefore, the physical variable in question could not be regulated to a constant value because it always oscillated back and forth between two limit values that were quite distant from one another.
The aim of the invention is to at least considerably reduce the described after part.
The electrical switch according to the invention is characterized in that an elastically flexible buffer member is arranged between the fixed stop and the contact spring, which in its rest position has a distance from the contact spring when it is in contact with the fixed Kontaktele element. Further details and refinements can be found in the dependent claims, the description and the accompanying drawing, in which, for example, an embodiment of the invention is illustrated.
1 shows a side view of a temperature regulator switch designed according to the invention in the cold state; 2 shows the same temperature regulator switch in a warm state; 3 shows the electrical circuit diagram of a heating circuit with the temperature controller switch according to FIGS. 1 and 2;
Fig. 4 illustrates the time course of the temperature regulated by means of the switch, with the dash-dotted line showing the temperature profile when using a switch of the previous design; .
Fig. 5 shows a detail of an embodiment variant of the switch, .part in section and in relation to FIG. 1 enlarged scale.
The temperature regulator switch shown in Figs. 1 and 2 has a frame-shaped housing 10 made of ceramic material. With the aid of a screw 11, a metal plate 12 is fastened in the interior of the housing 10. In a threaded hole of the plate 12, an adjusting screw 13 is arranged, the inner end of which serves as a fixed contact element.
A metal plate 15, a lamellar bimetallic piece 16, a metallic carrier 17 and two spacer plates 18 are also fastened within the housing by means of a screw 14, which is arranged axially opposite the adjusting screw 13.
A leaf-shaped contact spring 19 carries at one end part a movable contact piece 20 which cooperates with the fixed contact piece formed by the adjusting screw 13.
The other end of the contact spring 19 is riveted to the carrier 17 with the interposition of spacer plates 21. To open and close the switch, the contact spring 19 can be pivoted back and forth between the setting screw 13 serving as a fixed contact element and the setting screw 14 serving as a fixed stop. Between tween the contact spring 19 and the carrier 17 there is an additional leaf spring 22, one end of which is firmly held between the spacer plate 21.
The leaf spring 22 extends in its ent stressed rest position at least approximately parallel to the carrier 17 and the contact spring 19 when the contact element 20 the adjusting screw 13 touches. The leaf spring 22 is then approximately in the middle between the contact spring 19 and the end of the screw 14 serving as a stop. The leaf spring 22 has at least approximately the same spring properties as the contact spring 19.
The bimetal piece 16 serves as a drive element for actuating the contact spring 19 and consists of two closely interconnected metal layers with different thermal expansion coefficients, which are arranged directly one above the other. For clarity, the boundary between the two metal layers of the bimetal piece 16 is not shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
The free end of the bi-metal piece 16 is angled upwards and forms an anchorage for one end of a helical tension spring 23, the other end of which is hooked into an opening in the contact spring 19. In a threaded hole in the plate 15 there is an adjusting screw 24 with which the rest position of the bimetal piece can be adjusted within certain limits.
Two soldering lugs 25 and 26 for connecting electrical conductors are fastened with the aid of screws 11 and 14 and connected to metal plates 12 and 15.
For the following description of the effect of the described temperature controller switch is assumed. that it is installed according to FIG. 3 in an elec trical heating unit 25 which also has a heating resistor 26. The temperature regulator switch designated 27 in FIG. 3 is in series with the heating resistor 26. The unit 25 is connected to a power source 29 via a main switch 28.
When the switch 28 is open and the heating unit 25 is cold or at normal room temperature, the bimetal piece 16 assumes the position shown in FIG. 1, in which it is curved upward. If you close the switch 28; a current flows through the heating resistor 26, where the unit 25 is heated.
The time course of the temperature T from the moment the switch is switched on is illustrated in FIG. As the temperature increases, the bimetal piece 16 gradually stretches. If a temperature T1 of 84 C is reached, for example, the bimetal piece 16 assumes the position shown in FIG.
The contact spring 19 then tilts instantly from its obe ren position according to FIG. 1 into its lower position according to FIG. 2, whereby the temperature regulator switch opens and the current flow through the heating resistor 26 is interrupted. The contact spring 19 is tilted by shifting the anchoring point of the spring 23 downwards, which results in a change in the direction of pull of the spring 23.
When the contact spring 19 tilts into its lower position, it moves against the leaf spring 22, which serves as an elastic buffer member and is pressed by the contact spring to the end of the screw 14 and is elastically tensioned at the same time. By means of the leaf spring 22, the contact spring 19 finds a firm stop on the screw 14, so that the opening path between the contact elements 13 and 20 is clearly defined.
As a result, the temperature in the unit 25 decreases, the bimetallic piece 16 slowly bending upwards. Long before the bimetal piece 16 reaches the starting position shown in FIG. 1, the anchoring of the spring 23 is again shifted so far upwards that the contact spring 19 tilts back into its upper position and the circuit is closed again.
This closing movement of the contact spring 19 is supported by the mechanical energy stored in the leaf spring 22, which causes the bimetal piece 16 to apply less force to tilt the contact spring 19 upwards and consequently requires less deformation than it would without the leaf spring 19 of the Case. The closure of the regulator switch is therefore carried out at a temperature T2 which is only relatively slightly below the value T1, which z. B. 76 C.
If the leaf spring 22 were omitted, as was the case with earlier designs of the temperature controller switch, the unit 25 would need to be cooled to a temperature T of about 62 C until the switch would close the circuit again.
When the upper limit temperature T1 is reached again, the toggle switch interrupts the circuit again, etc. Fig. 4 shows that the temperature of the unit 25 is kept at a relatively constant temperature by means of the controller switch 27, which in the present example is about 80 on average C and has only slight fluctuations upwards and downwards.
If you wanted to achieve a similar constant temperature control using the known regulator switch, in which the leaf spring 22 is missing, the adjusting screws 13 and 24 would have to be changed so that the opening path of the movable contact piece 20 is considerably smaller and the contact pressure is lower. Both are disadvantageous for the functioning of the controller switch,
because on the one hand, with the same switching capacity, there is a risk of arcing between the contact elements 13 and 20 when the switch is opened and, on the other hand, the contact resistance is greater when the switch is closed.
The arrangement of the leaf spring 22 as described means that a lower force is required to bring about the tilting movement of the contact spring 19 in its upper closed position than for its movement into the lower open position. This is the reason for the small difference between the limit temperatures T1 and T2,
which can be achieved by means of the switch according to the invention, as well as for the sufficiently large contact pressure between the contact elements 13 and 20; when the switch is closed.
Temperature regulator switches of the type described are suitable, for example, for installation in electric heating pads, since they can be made with small dimensions.
Instead of the leaf spring 22, the switch can have another resilient buffer member aufwei sen that z. B. has the training shown in FIG. The screw 14 is then provided with a cavity 30, in which a bolt 31 engages, which is guided in the cavity 30 so as to be longitudinally displaceable and is under the influence of a compression spring 32 which is also arranged in the cavity 30. This spring 32 tries to push the bolt 31 upwards until a shoulder of the bolt strikes a crimped portion 33 of the screw 14.
The upper end part of the bolt 31 then protrudes a little out of the screw 14, but has a certain distance from the contact spring 19 when it rests with its movable contact element 20 on the stationary contact element 13. If the contact spring 19 tilts downwards, however, it presses the bolt 31 against the influence of the spring 32 into the cavity of the screw 14 until a firm stop for the contact spring 19 is created. The mechanical energy stored in the spring 32 supports the tilting back of the contact spring 19, so that the bimetal piece 16 has to apply less force for this.
One thus achieves the same before partial effect as in the embodiment of FIGS.
The invention is not limited to temperature controller switches. Instead of the bimetallic piece 16, another drive element for actuating the contact spring 19 by means of the spring 23 can be present, e.g. B. a membrane responding to changes in pressure or a piston serving the same purpose, a float responding to changes in the level of a liquid, a balance subject to changes in weight, etc.
