B. Methyl- cellulose, Tragant, Alginate usw. in Betracht.

Process for dyeing or printing textile fibers made from regenerated cellulose with reactive dyes It is known that reactive dyes are fixed on cellulose by alkali treatment, mostly by simultaneous alkali and heat treatment.
As a rule, however, results are obtained on regenerated cellulose, especially staple viscose, and in particular also on matted fibers, significantly unfavorable results than on native cellulose; the color yield is smaller and the dyeings and prints produced remain unsatisfactorily weak or even unusable.
Surprisingly, these disadvantages can now be remedied very easily if regenerated cellulose, in particular rayon, with practically alkali-free solutions or printing pastes containing reactive dyes, in the substantial absence of alkali, but in the presence of water-soluble amides of carbonic acid or of carboxylic acids, padded or printed and steamed briefly before the dyes are fixed on the cellulose by treatment with alkaline agents.
As reactive dyes are mainly acyl amide dyes and ss-sulfato or (-bromo or chloropropionylamino-containing water-soluble dyes of the azo, anthraquinone and phthalocyanine series, as well as corresponding dyes to be mentioned, the reactive grouping a heterocyclic, halogen-containing Grouping, e.g.
B. have one or more mono- or dichloro-1,3,5-triazine groups, di- or trichloropyrimidine groups, chloroquinoxaline, chlorophthalazine, chloroquinazoline and chloropyridazine or chloropyridazone rings.
Suitable water-soluble amides of carboxylic acids are those which have the -CONH2 group at least once, such as the amides of mono- or dibasic carboxylic acids, eg. B. the what water-soluble amides of low molecular weight aliphatic carboxylic acids, z.
B. formamide, acetamide or malonic acid diamide. Further suitable amides of carbonic acid are urethane and especially urea. Aqueous solutions or printing pastes of the dyes in question are expediently used which contain 1 to 50% of the specified urethanes or amides.
With such solutions, which are practically free of substances with an alkaline reaction, the goods to be dyed can be padded, preferably cold or at only moderately elevated temperature, and squeezed off as usual; It is expedient to squeeze in such a way that the impregnated product retains from 0.5 to 1.3 parts of its initial weight of dye solution.
Instead of padding, the specified dyes can be applied to the textile materials by printing according to the present process. For this purpose one uses z. B. a printing ink that, in addition to the aids commonly used in printing (e.g.
Wetting and thickening agents) and optionally finely divided, non-reactive disperse dyes, water-soluble amides or urethanes and at least one of the specified dyes.
As an aid for the production of printing pastes, alkali-free or practically alkali-free Ver thickeners, such as alkoxy cellulose, eg. B. methyl cellulose, tragacanth, alginates, etc. into consideration.
Before the dyes are fixed, the padded or printed goods are steamed briefly according to the invention. For this purpose, the padded or printed rayon, preferably after prior partial drying, z. B. in a damper a few seconds to a few minutes, e.g. B. 1-6 Minu th, the action of water vapor at at least 100 C, usually a little over 100 C, exposed to who the.
After steaming, the dyes are fixed by treating them with alkaline agents. In general, treatment with alkali carbonates or alkali hydroxides in a rinsing bath or on a wide washing machine is sufficient.
According to the present process, regenerated cellulose, including the matted fibers, especially viscose viscose, produces very valuable, strong, mostly very full dyeings and prints with excellent wet fastness properties and good levelness, while the usual processes mostly only cloudy and weaker dyeings and Prints result. The prints obtained by the present process often also allow the unfixed dye to be washed out easily.
In certain cases it is advisable to use larger amounts (i.e. more than 20%) urethane or another arm, while otherwise amounts of 10 to 20/10 urethane or amide (based on the dye solution or printing paste used) in general suffice.
In the following example, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. The dyes are usually given as free acids, but are used as alkali salts.
